Divergent Collector's Kit (Quick) Review, Photos, Swatches
Divergent Collector’s Kit
Divergent Collector’s Kit ($59.50) includes fifteen eyeshadows, two blushes, one bronzer, one highlighter, four lipglosses, and a double-ended eye/cheek brush. I’ve been waiting to hear back from Sephora regarding the Lipglosses to get names (mine weren’t labeled–thank you readers Denise & Thu for your help!), but now the palette is listed as out of stock! I’m not entirely sure it’s going to be back in stock, and as it is listed as only available online, you can’t track it down in stores. Reader Erica, who works at Sephora in Pittsburgh, said stores will have them. (Could this launch be any more confusing–VIB rouge, then VIB, no everyone! online! no, maybe stores, too?!) I’m going to share my overall thoughts on the kit along with full photos and swatches, but I’m not going to consider going as in-depth as I typically would unless it becomes available again.
Overall, it’s actually a decent kit, and you get a lot of product for your money. The eyeshadows were fairly pigmented, soft (sometimes powdery, a couple were dry), and wore well for seven to eight hours. The cheek products were a little powdery but blendable and buildable, and those wore seven to eight hours applied as well. The lipglosses were mostly non-sticky, lightweight, glossy, and sheer to semi-sheer, while they wore two to three hours on average. It performed better than expected, but the colors are more dupable than not.
There is something about the set that feels very familiar, particularly in regards to the lipglosses, which mimic Hourglass’ gloss packaging (and it might be generically available packaging, rather than uniquely made for Hourglass) and the cheek palette feels like they’ve attempted to dupe NARS’ blushes (Orgasm, Amour, Laguna, Albatross), but the blushes aren’t really true dupes for the NARS’ ones that came to mind.

I love the blushes and the second neutral eyepalette. The glosses are all very sheer, I wish they would be a bit more pigmented.
They are on the sheer side!
That’s weird, I totally have names on my lipglosses. (Just got mine yesterday and was about to post swatches myself.)
Mine just say “DIVERGENT” across the gloss but nothing on the back. Nada!
Do you have a line-up you could share?
Yeah! It looks like Denise below has it. The names are printed on labels stuck to the back of the tube.

Thank you, Thu!! This was amazingly helpful. I appreciate yours + Denise’s help!
Also, the eye palettes are labeled too! The first one you have posted (with Intrepid Moss, etc.) is the Abnegation palette; the second one is the Erudite palette; and the third one with the black, navy, etc is the Dauntless palette.
(Also, you should read the Divergent series if you have the time. I’m a big fan, and am excited for the movie, which is why I bought this.)
Thank you, Thu 🙂
xoxo
If my monitor isn’t deceiving me, the glosses are as follows:
1) Natural Virtue
2) Supreme Ritual
3) Temptation’s Choice
4) Fear Not
Where are you getting the info from? Do you have the get the look book? Or maybe it sounds like the ones that you could purchase (mine was a press sample) had names on them… I wasn’t able to get any info from Sephora regarding what each one is supposed to look like (called two Sephoras as well!), just the names listed on Sephora. I keep checking the product page, but they only have the names listed. I didn’t want to assume they’re written in the same order shown in the promo image!
From my kit that I bought. My glosses and palettes have labels. I also have the link to the look cards, from saving the item to my Sephora favorites. Do you want them?
Thank you, Denise! Between you and @Thu, you’ve saved my life!

Thank you, Denise!
Totally off-topic, but the dupe finder is not working for me at the moment, it could be my internet but just thought I would mention it.
It’s fixed!
This kit doesn’t wow me, a couple of the glosses are ok..but even those are a little plain.
It’s a fairly dupable kit!
I’m sad. The packaging is cool and I like the concepts, but all the colors are so uninspired. It feels like they’re just trying to capitalize on the movie without putting any real work into the color choices.
I agree.
Phew! 😀 What a mixed bag!
It’s a shame that Erudite Sapphire isn’t more pigmented (blue eyeshadow obsession ahoy!), but some of the things here look really pretty! Looking forward to your full review 🙂
Some are nice, some are definitely sub-par!
Oh wow…I really like the yellow-ish, golden sheen of Gleaming Pearl! Other than that, this collection is such a snooze fest.
It’s a nice mix of earth tones and neutrals, but the majority are fairly dupable, I think!
As I was worried 90% is too warm for me. The brushes are cool however!
It does seem to run slightly warmer.
There is indeed a lot of product included! but it would be one of those kits i get just because and never really use! So I guess I can pass safely. 🙂
I could definitely see this being the type that gets used a few times and put away.
Looking at your photos, this kit doesn’t seem remotely impressive. However, I bought this and have been using it for a week, and it isn’t nearly as blah as it looks from your post, in my opinion. I actually love the eyeshadows and the highlighter. I think the quality is great, especially over a primer.
I don’t think I said the quality was bad at all – it’s not consistently good across the board, but in general, it was decent to good, depending on the shade. Of course, I don’t typically test over primer, so I’m not reviewing based on performance over a primer and I would imagine that a primer would help some of the most under-performing shades 🙂
Oh no, I know you didn’t say the quality was bad! It’s just, for example, “Dauntless Ink” looked just kind of average in your swatch, but it is great over a primer! Very dark and smooth. 🙂 Even though I don’t care for the lip products, I am overall really happy with my purchase.
I don´t know if I´m the only one being picky but whenever I see double sided brushes, I´m totally put off. Especially if they are put in a collection/palette I don´t want to buy the product anymore.
I don’t like them either personally, but I can’t say they’ll prevent me from buying a kit/set, lol! I usually give them away.
I have a few of the “blockbuster” sets from years past, and all the cheek colors seem to be the same standard shades Sephora puts into all of them. I like this set as a whole, but I honestly have no use for it. That said, the target demographic this speaks to will probably get a ton of use from it!
I haven’t tried many of the blockbusters, so it’s interesting that they put similar shades in over and over again!
I just want to add that Sonia Kashuk does similar shadows to the glittery ones, so someone who likes those, but has a ton of neutrals, can look into those!
What a nice set! I was looking at it online a few days ago but didn’t realize just how much stuff it came with. Wow! Everything looks so pretty! I do wish Sephora would release some solid info about this line though. This is all so confusing lol
Yeah, it’s a HUGE kit!
It’s a lot of products for the price, but I’m just not impressed with some of the color payoff.
Some are really nice, some are less so! It’s a bit of a mix.
Random question but does it say on the box which brand made this line. I’m guessing it’s a Sephora brand line but you never know.
I didn’t see anything, but there were a few things different about my box than the one for sale (some labeling discrepancies/lack of labeling). It is from Sephora as far as I know, since that’s who sent it to me!
I totally thought Hourglass was the brand doing a Divergent collection when I saw the lipgloss packaging.
Haha! I was like, “Wait, I’ve seen these before….”
Oh, I want it….BUT…. I’m not a VIB or VIB Rouge level. Can I buy yours, or from someone else?
It doesn’t say it’s restricted on the site any more!
Yes, but it’s out of stock (of course). Thanks anyway.
The lipgloss containers do look like Hourglass’s. I’m curious about who made it.
I work at a Sephora inside J.C.Penney in Michigan, and supposedly we’re supposed to be getting this set in our stores this month. I’m not sure exactly what date and I’m not sure if it’s going to be in all of the SiJCP stores or just the higher volume ones. So, essentially, I am a HUGE help hahahaha But, it was in our training update materials, so it is coming.
Thank you for the heads up! Hopefully they will be!
I picked mine up yesterday at a Sephora inside JCPenny.
This looks like a great collection for a tween girl just starting out with makeup. Not so much for someone like me with a collection overflowing my vanity drawers already lol. I feel ok about passing on this one…even at that great price point!
Glad you have similar shades, Megan!
I probably have 2 dupes for every single one of those eye shades Christine! And for good reason…those are some grwat, every-day type shades. Bit this could really be a great set for someone just getting into makeup or a big Divergent fan.
(Sorry for the typos…it’s been a long day!)
Ok i’m not even kidding, Christina you eyebrows look AMAZING!!!
Thanks, Judith!
I guess I’ve been a bit behind on my beauty blog following, because I haven’t even seen this. So… these aren’t Hourglass lip products, just the same packaging. Hm. Reminds me of those giant kits you could get from Macy’s and Nordstrom back in the 90s. (Which reminds me of how excited I was as a preteen when I once convinced my dad to let me get one. I can still remember some of the products)
I’m confused about the High Gloss Transforming Eye Shadows. The description says they “impart a shimmery, diamond-like reflection that is transparent when applied dry, and translucent when applied wet.” I’ve been looking for wet vs. dry swatches of these, but haven’t had any luck.
I did them initially, but they looked exactly the same!
The cheek palette looks amazing! I wish there was more variety among the glosses, they are sheer and rather similar.
I really like Gleaming Pearl.
I like the set’s organization. It seems that it can be broken down to be a lot less gigantic and hard to store.
It’s not really a set for me, the eyeshadows aren’t that interesting, and I’m not a huge gloss gal. I’m actually a bit attracted to the cheek palette, but that’s probably the highlighter and bronzer talking to me. XD
I’m actually pretty glad these were sold out when i decided to get them!
Because do I really need another set of neutral shadows?
Plus the glosses are too sheer for my liking..
happy accident lol!
Hey Christine, I work @ Sephora in NYC and this kit was put together by the Sephora pro team whom actually worked on set of the movie. The looks that come in the kit are actual looks that the pro team created on the actresses in the film. The kit will be available for in-store purchase at the end of the month to the public, no restrictions.
Thanks, Rachelle!
The cheek palette is gorgeous! I wish I could just buy the cheek palette by itself…
This looks to run too warm over all to justify buying the whole kit, though I really like the face and smokey eye palettes. Ah well, money saved. 😉
I got this for my daughter and absolutely love it for someone her age. Mostly, it’s fairly neutral and natural (and yes perhaps dupable). She’s a younger teenager into makeup for the first time and her and her friends love to play with makeup together so a big kit is fun. And I like lighter, glittery shadows (though she does shy away from too much glitter).
The Sephora site does let you sign up for an email notification for when it’s back in stock…which for them usually means it will be. Hopefully…I think it’s such a great set for the intended audience. I also just got her the People Divergent special edition.
I like the first two eye shadow palettes, but everything else wont work on me or just doesn’t interest me. I think this is an odd grouping of colors. It looks like this would be best purchased by two friends with different skin tones, one needing to have a yellow undertone for the face products.
Just an update, Christine – I live in Pittsburgh, and our Sephora stores did in fact receive these kits on site! It was on display when I walked in today. 🙂
YAYY!
Hi Christine,
They also have them in the store in the Christiana Mall in Delaware. I saw them on display at the end of last week.
That’s great news!
Will you be searching the smaller palette and nail products also? I can’t seem to find swatches anywhere and want to check them out before I buy.
No, sorry, I won’t be!
In snagged the last one of these at my Sephora yesterday. I have only had the chance to swatch the colors a bit, but I like them all for the most part. Glad I got the last one!
The Sephora associate who helped me said it was made by Hourglass.
Methinks she has been misinformed based on what I’ve read here.
Thanks for all the info, everyone!
Love the site, Christine…you do an awesome job at keeping me in the loop about everything pretty!
Thank you so much, Brooke!! 🙂
Just got this delivered from Sephora! IT IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
