Dior Tutu (769) Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Tutu (769)
Dior Tutu (769) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, plummy-toned five-pan palette that included two matte shades with the rest having varying levels of shimmer in them. The second shade was more sparkly with a more powdery base that was prone to sheering out and had a fair amount of fallout, so it would be best for someone willing to use an adhesive base or who doesn’t mind some fallout during wear.

Tutu #1
Tutu #1 is a very light mauve with warmer undertones and a satin sheen. It had good color coverage with a soft, lightly powdery consistency that seemed a bit thinner and a touch drier. It applied evenly but seemed to lose some of its sheen as I applied and blended it out on my skin. It lasted well for seven and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.
There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.
Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

Tutu #2
Tutu #2 appeared to have a very light, peachy base that was more matte and powdery paired with lighter pink and pale gold sparkle. The sparkles seemed to come away from the base quite a bit, which resulted in fallout if not carefully patted and pressed onto the skin.
I would recommend using it with a dampened brush or fingertip, though, but even those still yielded light fallout over time. It had semi-sheer color coverage that lasted for seven hours but had fallout.

Tutu #3
Tutu #3 is a muted, medium-dark mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff with a soft, lightly powdery texture that was finely-milled and silky, so the powderiness was more present in the pan than the application.
The eyeshadow applied well to bare skin with an even lay down of product that blended out readily along the edges. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Tutu #4
Tutu #4 is a light-medium lavender with warmer undertones and a light, metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque color coverage paired with a smooth, slightly denser texture that wasn’t too thick nor too firmly pressed into the pan, so it picked up well with a brush. It applied evenly to my lid and blended out well without much effort. It wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Tutu #5
Tutu #5 is a blackened plum with neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft, velvety, and denser without being too powdery nor too firmly pressed into the pan. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was buildable to full coverage with less than a second layer. This shade lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Who puts a B rated $65 palette on their wishlist? Me. I just did that. Even though I’m not fan of #2, I absolutely love the other 4 shades. Now to talk myself out of that tree…?♀️
My thoughts exactly! I love this palette and I have a dupe for shade 2.. Definitely on my wishlist
I get it. But ‘we the overstashed’ (it should be a theme song, you know?) usually have dupes. I used to make lists of the dupes I had in X new palette. Regularly. Good, while it lasted. You might have to pull a few, but it often can be done. I’m duped except #5, and will def pull those 4 for some looks.
This one is so tempting, but fortunately, there aren’t many retailers around that carry Dior quints, and it takes alot of convincing to order online these days (I literally had a package sitting in limbo for nearly 3 weeks…).
No dupes for Tutu 5? I’m on my phone and do not see any.
I wanted this quad, but not badly enough to suffer through quality issues.
Should be fixed – so sorry!
I find this color story very soothing right now.
This isn’t for me, even if it had been rated more highly but, as Nancy sort of suggested, a palette at this price should rate better but on so many of them, it’s that 2nd shade that really pulls the rating down into the dumpster. Shame that #4 wasn’t better…there are “some” really good purple shades out there but this doesn’t seem to be one that will set hearts a-flutter with that rating and price. I am still on the edge of my seat waiting for New Look to be reviewed! I decided (because of the out of control nature of my collection of eyeshadows) that I will ONLY get either Jungle or New Look so I want to see how it rates.
It’s a shame that pesky second shade brings the rest of the palette down. The hero shade for me was the fourth one – that lavendar shade offers a contrast to the other plum tones.
I was going to pick this up but it’s warmer than it looks in the pan and this type of warm mauve color really washes me out. It’s a pretty palette though.
Hey Christine thanks for this amazing review! I was waiting for this palette for some time and finally bought it and can definitely say it is not worth the money. My palette stinks really badly – I tried disinfecting it with some 70% alcohol which I use for all my products and it made the smell worse. I had to rewash all the brushes I used with the palette (reliable ones like Hakuhodo and Sonia G). Returning will be a mission impossible level feat so the money seems effectively wasted and I am so disappointed. I loved the colours and textures so much but I have never smelt anything that foul in my makeup and I don’t have a very sensitive nose either. Wanted to let you know in case others run into this issue. I’ll look into the dupes instead sadly…
Thank you for the heads up, Maya! Really sorry to hear that yours smells bad!
