Dior Poison Matte (962) Rouge Blush Review & Swatches

Poison Matte (962)
Dior Poison Matte (962) Rouge Blush ($44.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a bright plum with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff in a single layer with a smooth, lightly powdery texture that was dense but not firm or stiff to work with. It applied fairly evenly to bare skin and blended along the edges, though I noticed that it tended to look lighter and pinker when worn at sheerer coverage levels (less true-to-pan) so keep that in mind based on skin tone and what level of coverage you tend to wear your blush at. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading slightly.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to have a "silky" and "lightweight" texture that's long-wearing and have "buildable" intensity. The blushes had a smooth, lightweight consistency that was finely-milled, though not as silky as I would have expected, without being too powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan.
The majority of the shades I tested had medium, buildable pigmentation that was hard to over-do but could definitely be intensified for higher coverage if desired. They applied evenly and blended out without issue, and they seemed to sit well on my skin with a semi-matte finish or higher. The more shimmery shades were still more low-level and had a sheen rather than overt shimmer that yielded a more metallic finish.
On my skin, most of the hues I trialed lasted eight hours before showing signs of fading. There was a soft, floral scent to the powders.

Although the flankers have adopted different colors, I really expected a purple. Most of this Dior blush collection has been vaguely disappointing, as so many dupes are better than the featured product.
The color itself is just gorgeous for autumn/winter, but that very matte finish could look too flat on me personally. I definitely prefer a more “skin finish” type matte or satin for my aging skin. The color, though!
A subtle plum shade and like the mattish finish too.
