Dior Lucky Addict Extreme Lipstick
Feel Lucky with This Not-Too-Vibrant Pink
Dior Lucky Addict Extreme Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a fuchsia-pink with the barest hint of coral; there’s an underlying warmth lurking just beneath the surface. Tarina Tarantino Fuchsia Lining is a bitter redder. MAC Speak Louder is pinker, cooler-toned. MAC Party Parrot is brighter, less red. Lancome Fuchsia Clutch is a bit darker and has a light smattering of iridescent fuchsia shimmer.
This formula is supposed to be long-wearing and yield bold color with “radiant shine.” I like the formula overall, though it doesn’t deliver particularly stellar results when it comes to wear–Lucky wore for five hours well, though the shine had faded after three–but it’s not much better than other Dior lipsticks (that aren’t marketed as long-wearing) or other lipsticks overall (typically, lipsticks average four hours on me). It lasts for a good length of time, but it’s short of long-wearing, which I would expect to clock in between six to eight hours. It definitely has a distinctly glossy shine that reflects the light well and gives lips a fuller look.
The color is semi-opaque (though almost opaque) with a slight translucency, so some of the natural lip color will peek through. When I applied the lipstick, the color coverage was mostly even but you can see how it didn’t go on perfectly even. It has a somewhat creamy consistency, but it reminded me more of a lip balm in a way, because it feels wetter–think Revlon’s Lip Butters with less slip. There is a light perfume-y scent that’s just noticeable in the tube but not after it is applied.

not at all wowed by this formula – too much like a lustre for me
Looks pretty, but I’d rather see some more NARS blushes! 😉
Me, too!
Great review Christine! I always love the way your eyeliner looks on your waterline. Also,I have noticed the Guerlain Kohl Kajal a couple of times in FAQ. Can you please do a review on Guerlain Blu Acqua Khol Kajal. Thanks
I love these lipsticks. I have been collecting them since their release. I love that a few shades have matching nail laquers as well. I find them very hydrating and adore the colour selection, I haven’t picked one yet that does not work for me, and that is rare b/c my colouring is very tricky. I have been patiently waiting for your review on these 🙂 I think this is the first lipstick purchase I have made in years without consulting your reviews first.Â
I have this and love it, but like you said, I don’t find it to be all that long-lasting. It also pulls redder on me, I think, although I’m not sure why that is. I’ve been wearing it a lot this summer; it just seems perfect for bright days.
I love these lipsticks (I honestly don’t see that much different in formulation between the Addict Extremes and the Addicts, except that the Extremes tend to be more pigmented, so I am referring to both here). I know they are not long-wearing for a lipstick in general, but I think they wear the best and longest out of all the glossy, balmy sheer lipsticks that are on the market right now.
SUCH a pretty color! The Addict Extremes are next on my list of sheer lipsticks to try. I love Burberry Lip Mists and recently bought my first Chanel Rouge Coco Shine. Oh, I want to try the Giorgio Armani Rouge d’Armani Sheers too!
Gorgeous color, but for a $30 lipstick, it looks very patchy. Â
Whoo, this is one of my fav shades! It looks so glossy on your lips too, I feel that it has more of a balmy look on my lips, but love it nonetheless. For a formula that is rather sheer with a semi opaque finish I do think it’s ok on the weartime, but I wished they made it a bit more opaque tho. It’s interesting to see it on your lips, it looks brighter than on mine :).
I have heard that these are similar to Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters. What do you think?
Curiouscreature I mentioned it in the review: “It has a somewhat creamy consistency, but it reminded me more of a lip balm in a way, because it feels wetter–think Revlon’s Lip Butters with less slip.”Hope this helps! 🙂
I recently purchased this and the matching nail color. I have been really enjoying them for the summer. Lucky is a happy color that isn’t too heavy or opaque for warm weather wear.
The formula looks like something I’d really love. I may have to pick some up and see it for myself I suppose. Also, this is rather off-topic, but I’d ask anyway. I know you probably won’t be reviewing the Guerlain Blu Acqua Kajal since it’s sold out in most places. However, I see you wear it on the FotD above, and I assume this means you have an idea how it performs, at least. Would you mind giving a quick rating (mainly pigmentation and longevity) of the liner?
+RYOU+0013+Â It was just okay – it was a little smudgy after eight hours. I only wore it twice before it was mostly sold out! Â I wasn’t thrilled with the pigmentation, either. I’d opt for any number of the $20~ liners on the market over Blu Acqua.
Christine-Temptalia Thank you for the reply. Such a pity about the formula! I was actually thinking of getting one off eBay because I just LOVE that blurple shade, but I doubt it’s worth the price hijack (or the original price tag, for that matter). Does any dupe come to mind?
+RYOU+0013+ Maybe Tarina Tarantino Cute Robot? A little darker I’d say. http://www.temptalia.com/tarina-tarantino-eye-dream-hyper-liners-rockstar-love-puppeteer-cute-robot-review-photos-swatchesHave you tried layering a blue and purple eyeliner? That could work, too 🙂
Christine-Temptalia I thought of layering, but figured I probably still prefer not having to — obvious laziness there. =’DThank you! I’ll check Cute Robot when I can. 🙂
Pretty! And it works so well with your (beautiful!) eye make-up!
I bought it because I loved the colour, and after a few days of wearing went to the shop again to buy three more shades of Extreme – this formula is AWEsome. Moisturising, goes on wonderfully, packed with colour but sort of sheer at the same time, so you end up having a lovely colour without it looking like crayon. I’ve got Avenue, Riviera and Plaza in addition to Lucky, and all I hope for is that they aren’t pulled off production!
I love this lipstick, its like a pricy tinted lip balm I can wear everyday, anytime
