Dior Golden Day Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Golden Day (569)
Dior Golden Day (569) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($62.00 for 0.24 oz.) includes two mattes and three shimmer shades. The shimmers varied from more satiny to sparkly, so there was a lot of differences in texture between the five shades. The quality was decent but the matte black was stiffer to work with, so whether it “works” comes down to preference for sure.

Golden Day #1
Golden Day #1 is a light copper with warm, more orange undertones and a metallic finish. It had a shinier, more metallic finish than most of the brand’s shimmery eyeshadows. It had rich color coverage with a smooth, moderately dense texture that applied evenly and blended out well. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.
There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.
Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

Golden Day #2
Golden Day #2 is a medium, dirty gold with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling sheen. It had larger flecks of sparkle throughout, but they were flatter, which helped them adhere better to skin, though there was light fallout when blended and during wear. It had semi-opaque coverage that applied with better coverage with a fingertip or a dampened brush. This shade stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Golden Day #3
Golden Day #3 is a muted, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a cooler, pale pink pearl that gave it a satin finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a soft, lightly powdery texture that applied well and blended out easily. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.

Golden Day #4
Golden Day #4 is a light-medium, golden brown with warmer, more yellow undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was soft, smooth, and velvety, so while it had a touch of powderiness in the pan, it wasn’t prone to fallout or sheering out too quickly. It had opaque pigmentation that lasted well for eight hours on me.

Golden Day #5
Golden Day #5 is a deep black with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation with a firmer, stiffer texture; it would work well for someone who prefers to use the smallest amount of black eyeshadow but less so for someone who wants more coverage/diffusion. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

A beautiful quints, marred by some lower ratings – the second shade is very muted and the inclusion of the deep black matte, to me, is unnecessary as it is too dark to fit in with the rest of the colour story. A rich sable brown would have been better (I think).
What a bizarre and unattractive combination for a quad. These colors don’t look good together in any way, plus the depth can only be achieved with that black, which really doesn’t belong here. For a luxury company, Dior dropped the ball with their color selection and quality control.
I find this very attractive to look at…but that’s it. I wouldn’t find it useful to have. It reminds me in some ways of the Feel quint which I have and rarely use. I’m so tired of BLACK eyeshadow; in a smaller palette like this, it just seems like “more of the same” and not really necessary (at least not for me) – I like Genevieve’s comment about a rich sable brown making more sense. And that middle shade – just a “no” for me.
A very pretty palette that I can easily dupe with shadows I already own.
