Dior Fire (584) Diorshow Mono Lustrous Smoky Eyeshadow
Dior Fire (584) Diorshow Mono Lustrous Smoky Eyeshadow ($29.50 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium-dark, bronzy brown with warm undertones and gold sparkle over a pearlized finish. The texture was smooth, but noticeably glittery, with a denser feel so that the glitter melded with the base color and didn’t just disappear upon application. It had good pigmentation and applied well to bare skin without losing intensity. Some of the sparkle separated from the base color as I blended, but it just seemed to move it beyond the initial area I put it but didn’t fall off the lid. This shade lasted for seven hours on me before creasing but had minimal fallout. ColourPop Nillionaire (P, $6.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Dior Reflection (684) Diorshow Mono Lustrous Smoky Eyeshadow ($29.50 for 0.06 oz.) is a dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was smoother than some of the other shades, but it still had a ton of glittery bits, which you can feel if you touch it with your fingertip. It had a denser, creamier consistency, though, which worked well to keep the sparkles and base color combined. It was intensely pigmented, applied and blended well, and lasted for six and a half hours before creasing (but fallout was quite minimal!). Dose of Colors Caffeine Queen (P, $20.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). MAC Aloha (LE, $32.50) is cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Tectonic (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Dior Fever (794) Diorshow Mono Lustrous Smoky Eyeshadow ($29.50 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium-dark, reddish plum with warm undertones and a sparkling finish. The texture was slightly drier than the other two shades, but it still held together fairly well when blended and worked with on the skin–I had a little more fallout during application, though. This shade had great pigmentation, but when I blended it, some of the color looked patchy underneath the glitter/sparkle. I was able to wear the eyesahdow for seven hours before I saw creasing. There was a small amount of fallout after eight hours. Anastasia Not Today (P, $12.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Givenchy Inattendue #4 (PiP, ) is cooler (90% similar). Formula Overview
Dior Diorshow Mono Lustrous Smoky Eyeshadow ($29.50 for 0.06 oz.) is supposed to be a metallic, shiny, pigmented powder eyeshadow that will mimic a “wet lid.” The texture was smooth, but I could feel the texture of the glitter and sparkle, as several shades are full of glittery bits. The good news was that the texture is also denser and creamier, which enabled the sparkles and glitters to bind better with the base. I noticed the sparkles would separate from the base when I would diffuse and blend out the edges, but the flecks tended to move rather than fall off the eye. The formula varied from semi-opaque to totally opaque. The eyeshadows wore six to seven hours on me before they started to crease, but I had very minimal fall out over time, though. I didn’t see any mention of using these wet, but I had no issues using it wet as well as dry, for reference (wet application was not considered for purposes of rating the products).
I’m not certain if these are limited edition or permanent, because Dior’s website doesn’t call them out as limited edition (as they did for their fall quints). I’m also not certain about what retailers will get these, because Dior is the only U.S. retailer I’ve seen carrying them, but they are available at a slew of international retailers: Selfridges, Harrods, John Lewis, Escentual, House of Fraser, and David Jones.

SO glad these are permanent. What beautiful shadows. And the “performance” seems pretty good too (Dior shadows are always so “iffy”, especially the 5 pans – a few real winners and a lot of stinkers)
I’m not certain if they are LE or not, but they have not been putting “limited edition” on them… yet only Dior.com has them in stock (though a few are out of stock) and haven’t seen them anywhere in the U.S. other than Dior.com! I sent in an email last week to corporate but no word yet.
I sure hope they’re permanent and soon available at Dior counters. Dior’s kinda nuts (or maybe it’s Sephora) – I waited and waited and waited for Glowing Gardens to arrive in-store and, while they had it online and my local store carries Dior, it just never arrived. I was so glad I check Hudson’s Bay and bought it there or I’d have missed out entirely. I might ask at the Dior counter at The Bay when I’m there next to see if they have any idea whether or not their getting them. They sure are nice.
You should definitely ask! It seems like internationally, the range is all over, so The Bay might just have it.
Well, well, well …..looks like the Dior shadows have been re-formulated for the better! Nice to see some A’s and B’s for Dior shadows. I was eyeing Fire, but I have like 2 dupes already, so I’ll await your reviews for the other colors. The traditional retailers (Macy’s, Nordstroms, Bloomindales) have some of the singles already, so I’m hoping they will also get these brand new shades. Because after my Capital of Light disaster, I’m not buying from any retailer unless it’s easy to return! And for $ 29, it’s nice to see an elegant black case with applicator and mirror. Natasha, please take some notes, no cheapie plastic pillboxes for $ 29 shadows.
It definitely seems to be a different formula altogether, so there’s that! 🙂
Wow. I like all of them. Definitely going to check them out, I can imagine any or all of them for holidays.
Hope you can swatch ’em, AB!
So gorgeous!!!! What a win for Dior. I bet they’d be fantastic over a primer.
I agree!
There’s so much going in each colour and I LOVE it! I think Lustrous is the most autumn-like of the bunch!
They are very dazzling!
All three shadows are so pretty I love 584 & 794 together.
They are!
I wonder if these were released a while ago & they were limited edition and you can’t get them anymore except what might be still in stock on their website?
I’ve been watching them since they launched, which was a few weeks ago… waiting for it to launch elsewhere, actually!
These do indeed look wet! I love that effect so much more than basic frost, as it’s kinder looking on my not so young lids. Fever and Fire are especially lovely looking, I do already own Buxom Bronzed Bod, so that shade seems covered.
They really do! It’s a cool effect 🙂
*grabby hands*
Haha!
These are simply stunning. I love the looks of Fever.
Fever is fun!
Your eye look is gorgeous! I’m really interested in trying a Dior single or palette some day. Every time I go to buy one I chicken out. These definitely seem like nice options. I especially love the look of Fever.
Thank you, Nicole! 🙂
Just got Fever in my Selfridges order yesterday. I think, of all the shades, that’s the only one I need. Thanks for the swatches! Will have to see how it wears on me; it swatched beautifully.
Nice! Hope it works for you, Adele.
Fever is beautiful!
It is!
I ADORE all three!! Shoot!! I’ll have to check my stash!! I love these really sparkly shimmery eye shadows!! I have a few from a Korean brand that’s pressed glitter that I wear all the time 😛
Hopefully you have a few dupes!!
Reflection is making a siren call to my wallet! I’m not a big Dior fan, but I like the Mono shadows.
What are your favorite Monos from Dior?
If I were younger, I would scoop up some of these STAT. I loved your look, Christine. These would make an insane night look. Very beautiful. That Fever is right up my alley.
Aw, thanks Anne!
The texture looks very unusual and intriguing. So good to see a decent performance from Dior!
It’s nice to see a winner! 🙂
Gravity, Temptation and Fire are the 3 new releases for fall. I found them on the Dior website only-& the Gravity & Temptation were sold out. I signed up for an email alert & ordered them as soon as I got the email- 16 hrs later they were sold out again!
The Gravity is a beautiful charcoal silver gray- I dunno how to describe it- but no one does silver/ platinum shadow like Dior!
I wasn’t sure what to do with Fire, but I really like your look Christine. Beautiful.
At least they are restocking – that is good to know!
They’re beautiful!
They are!
