Dior Eden-Rock (233) Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Eden-Roc (233)
Dior Eden-Roc (233) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, limited edition neutral color story with a pop of navy blue. The formula used in this palette seemed to be drier and thinner with some powderiness along with shorter wear time than I’ve normally experienced with more recent Dior eyeshadow releases.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.
There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.
Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

A bit dull! I liked the look of the blue shade but it’s a bit insipid (I’d apply that adjective to the whole palette, to be honest). I do have dupes but as I pretty much never wear blue eyeshadow, I didn’t realize it till I looked at the dupe list.
Regarding the “unassigned dupes”, Christine – please don’t take this as a criticism or impatience or anything, but do you go back when you have time and refine/assign dupes to products you’ve reviewed? I really like Shade #5 in this and wonder if at some point, you will assign more dupes for the shade (right now, unbelievably, it looks like I don’t have any you’ve listed and MAC Bronze was DC’d just before I went to purchase it!)
I totally agree with you about the unassigned dupes, Mariella…
For me, the dupe list with percentages and the looks were the most important features of this blog. But now there’s less attention on these aspects… To the point I’m less interested to come here.
I know it’s a lot of work but… it’s a pity.
I am still adding dupes, but I am not current so that a lot of the dupes being added are from previous reviews! We did survey readers and found that 85%+ did not look at percentages/didn’t take them into account, though.
Disappointing, at this price point it should be at least an A…
Still looking for a good satin palette…
Inspid (you got that right Mariella), dull, boring, underwhelming…all the things you should not be saying about a Dior quint at this price.
That blue, along with all but very last shade, looks downright pathetic and very underwhelming. Dior has been on a good winning streak for awhile, so I don’t know what went wrong with this quint. At this price point, I’m looking for a solid A!
Yikes. The ELF x American Eagle palette is 10x better, with more shades and at a massive fraction of the cost!
