Dior Amber (002) Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder ($56.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a gold-shimmered, light-medium peach-orange with warm undertones and a satiny sheen. MAC Alpine Bronze (LE, $25.00) is darker, browner. MAC Fairly Precious (LE, $30.00) is lighter. Givenchy In Vogue Orange (P, $44.00) is less shimmery, darker. Clarins Graphic Expression (LE, $35.00) is lighter. NARS Puerto Vallarta (LE, $39.00) is a cream product, darker, brighter. NARS Luster (P, $29.00) is darker, more shimmery. MAC Trace Gold (P, $21.00) is browner. MAC Blazing Haute (LE, $25.00) is a touch darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Much like in my review for Rose (001), I regret to pass along that Amber (002) is no replacement for Amber Diamond. They share a similarity in terms of tone, and even in the pan, but applied, they’re very different, as Amber (002) is much darker, more pigmented, and way, way less shimmery. The texture is soft, finely-milled, a little powdery, and easy to blend and apply to the skin. This shade had more noticeable shimmer applied to the skin than Rose (001), though it didn’t emphasize pores too much, there was a very, very slight emphasis that must be noted. It had good color payoff that’s buildable and blendable, so the intensity can be controlled. When worn, the color lasted for eight hours before it started to fade.

You might just like the Milani highlighters. This brand never eases to amaze me. Excellent quality. Often comparable to high-end items except for the packaging.

I like this way better than the pink one! It has a prettier and more obvious sheen. Only problem is that I’m pretty sure it’s too warm for my skintone (NW20 atm). I’m sure I would love it mixed with amber diamond on the brush before applying.

I definitely prefer the originals.. neither of these appeal..one too orange, the other too pink and the pigmentation lends to looking more like dupeable blushes. They are pretty in the pan, though and this warmer toned one looks lovely on you, Christine.

Ohhh the old Amber Diamond is soooooooo much prettier (same with the rose one)… crossing my fingers they don’t discontinue it!!! I think I will buy a backup just in case (since in my experience, when products I love go discontinued, I never find out until it’s too late- maybe I just don’t pay enough attention)

And lo and behold, I tried to look for a backup of Amber Diamond online and it’s gone from every outlet 🙁 None left at Sephora, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Neiman, Bloomingdale’s, etc. Sephora doesn’t even have it listed as out of stock, it’s gone period, which probably means all hope is lost.

And it’s selling on Amazon and Ebay for $100+. Time to start rationing what I have, lol. Thankfully it lasts a long time!

They still have them (amber & rose diamond) at the Macy’s in Boston when I stopped by today. Maybe you could check with your local Macy’s.

Are these limited edition or permanent? It says LE on Sephora’s website but I read somewhere else that they will be added to the permanent line to “replace” Rose and Amber Diamond. Can’t wait to buy this one either way! 🙂

Aye… Seriously? I’m quite apologetic to seem such a negative nut, but really? As I look at the thousands I’ve spent, in many containers throughout my room, I feel such guilt they aren’t laden with drugstore products. What have I contributed to? Yet.. I can’t stop. I’m going to take a wild guess that it’s probably good I haven’t delved into those brands mentioned on another question one day…. I’d be running from more debt. At least I’ve donated at least 1/3 of what monetarily I’ve had.. And I do give things generously. My jelly mixing, Five, Turtle, and I, are going to have an intervention with me.

For anyone who finds this too orange/warm, or just can’t justify the cost, try the Maybelline Master Hi-light in Light Bronze, which has a similar finish (in between this & Amber Diamond), and leans a bit more peachy-pink.
