Dior 999 Rouge Blush Review & Swatches

999
Dior 999 Rouge Blush ($44.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a rich coral-red with warm undertones and cooler, pink pearl that gives it a luminous sheen when applied to the skin. The consistency was smooth, dense but not stiff, and velvety to the touch, so it picked up easily with a brush and could be used with a lighter hand for sheerer coverage or a moderate hand for more opaque coverage. A little went a long way with this shade, though, so I highly recommend using less than you anticipate and building up as needed for the desired effect. I was so pleased that the intense blush color blended out easily along the edges, while the glowing finish looked skin-like without being overtly shimmery. It wore well for almost nine hours before it started to show signs of fading.

Formula Overview
$48.00/0.22 oz. - $218.18 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have a "silky" and "lightweight" texture that's long-wearing and have "buildable" intensity. The blushes had a smooth, lightweight consistency that was finely-milled, though not as silky as I would have expected, without being too powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan.
The majority of the shades I tested had medium, buildable pigmentation that was hard to over-do but could definitely be intensified for higher coverage if desired. They applied evenly and blended out without issue, and they seemed to sit well on my skin with a semi-matte finish or higher. The more shimmery shades were still more low-level and had a sheen rather than overt shimmer that yielded a more metallic finish.
On my skin, most of the hues I trialed lasted eight hours before showing signs of fading. There was a soft, floral scent to the powders.

I picked this one up a few weeks ago and I love it!
It is such a gorgeous color and has such a beautiful, luminous finish to it.
YAY! Glad to hear you had good luck with it, too, Gina!
I can see this being amazing on darker skin tones! I guess even on me, if I were going for tuberculitic chic…
?
Wow, that’s intense! It’s utterly gorgeous, though.
It’s a beauty!!
This is gorgeous!
I LOVE this color on you! It’s doll-like but in a gorgeous, wearable way!
If I didn’t have UD Quiver Afterglow Blush, I would so buy this absolutely fantastic red blush! It is truly gorgeous and applies so nicely! ?
I purchased this at a Dior counter a couple of weeks ago, reviews unread. The shade is unlike anything I have in my largish blush stash. I use my Suqqu cheek brush for this, and it works really well. I agree with your rating, one of the best blushes I have purchased in year. I am loving my new Shiseido powder blush as well. These companies are really raising the bar for blush standards.
The texture/blendability is so impressive!
That blush looks amazing on you! Especially with the minimal eye makeup 🙂
Dior is once again knocking it out of the park. What a year for Dior!
So strange to see you without eye makeup — you look great! (either way…) 🙂
Beautiful, stunning and I think the pigmentation is really tops, but I would never to rarely wear this and there’s just too much product. Here’s an example where a smaller amount for less price would make me consider purchasing it because it’s so beautiful, yet not very useful so I’d only want a little bit.
I’d look like a clown in this (pale skin!) but this would be beautiful on deep skin tones. Gives a real full-blooded flush!
This blush is stunning. I stopped briefly at a Dior counter to pick up a lipstick and Charnelle blush. I saw this blush and thought it was matte (not that I had any time to try it on), so didn’t give it any thought. It’s on the “buy” list.
This is stunning. It reminds me a fair bit of MAC’s Frankly Scarlet, which I have and love but have to be careful with. Same with 999 – I think it might be a bit too much for my fair skin but I’ll probably take a look at it the next time I’m at The Bay.
