CoverFX Halo, Amethyst, Celestial Shimmer Veils Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Halo
Cover FX Halo Shimmer Veil ($28.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a cool, blue-tinted white base with silver to blue shifting sparkle and pearl. The finish was nearly metallic on the skin and lips, though it dried down to a transfer-resistant finish (so it wasn’t truly glossy). Of the shades released, this one did not spread out as evenly as others, so it took a bit of extra effort to get even results, but it also seemed to be more medium to semi-opaque in coverage to begin with. It lasted well for five hours as a lip color, nine hours on my cheeks, and nine hours on my eyes.

Formula Overview
$28.00/0.14 oz. - $200.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "customizable" coverage that delivers a "high-impact finish" that can be used on "eyes, lips, and beyond." These are very sparkling, shimmering, and metallic shades with a thin, lightly mousse-like consistency that dries down quickly and seems to last quite well, even on eyes. I had some trouble diffusing and blending out the edges as nicely as I wanted as they dried down too fast when I worked with brushes (it was easier to blend in time when just applying one shade all over the lid). On the eyes, they worked and applied best patted over another eyeshadow to do a glittery accent, halo eye, or placed onto the lid in a cut-crease look, but I struggled using more than one shade together (as a single eye look) and found they were a little thick and more prone to emphasizing lid texture if applied more heavily or into the crease. I didn't have any issues with the formula flaking or creasing on the eyes, though.
On the lips, they tended to apply with medium to semi-opaque coverage and spread evenly across the lips with little work (I used my fingertip to do so). They dried down to a transfer-resistant finish that felt "matte" in the sense of being flat/not glossy, but the finish itself was more metallic and sparkling overall. They didn't feel as clingy, dry, or as tight as I expected, though on their own, they didn't feel the most comfortable. They were most comfortable, on the lips, when patted over a more matte lip product or topped with clear balm or gloss. I found that creamier lipsticks tended to "eat" the shimmer and cover it up rather than letting it come through. The wear was between four and five hours.
On the cheeks, they spread easily over the skin and diffused gradually along the edges both over bare skin as well as patted over liquid foundation (without lifting up the base). It dried down and looked sparkly without looking chunky, dirty, or gritty on the skin. I was surprised to find it to be rather versatile formula--I could get moderate glow or get really intense, shiny, sparkly results depending on how much I applied. They lasted eight to nine hours on my cheeks.

Amethyst
Cover FX Amethyst Shimmer Veil ($28.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic sheen that shifted between pink and cooler violet. It had medium, buildable coverage that could be sheered out or built up to more opaque coverage and greater sparkle/shine in finish. The consistency was lightweight, thin without being too watery, and comfortable to apply to lips, eyes, and cheeks (no burning on the lids!). This shade wore well for five hours as a standalone lip color, nine hours on my cheeks, and nine hours on my eyes.

Celestial
Cover FX Celestial Shimmer Veil ($28.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a light pink with strong, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It was almost blinding in how shiny and reflective it was, particularly on my lips (and it looked drier than it felt–it actually did not feel dry to me on). The coverage was semi-sheer to opaque, depending on application tool and whether it was layered. The consistency was smooth, thin without being too watery or too dense, and it spread nicely along my cheekbones and blended out fairly well on my eyelid with a brush (and well with a fingertip). It applied evenly on my lips but definitely emphasized my lip texture when my mouth was relaxed and then looked like a blinding ray of light when I smiled. It stayed on well for four and a half hours as a lip color, eight and a half hours on my cheeks, and nine hours on my eyes.

These are gorgeous and I am genuinely intrigued and also hope they expand this range. I’m calling it now: 2018 is the year that I bring CoverFX AND Smashbox to my vanity.
These shimmer veils are all very pretty, but somehow look very similar to one another. I would like to have one of these in my collection, but selecting one would be a challenge for me since they all appear very similar after application.
Celestial as a cheek highlight and as an eyeshadow would be fun for me to do! I could so see doing this during late spring and early summer!
I don’t think I like this product as a lip gloss, but it certainly looks pretty on your cheeks.
Gorgeous but oh my! It exaggerates the lip lines! I’m sure it would look better on the cheeks or eyes.
Celestial looks like the bomb!!! I saw that Alyssa video and I’m intrigued but must have celestial!
How do you feel about this formula compared to the Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops?
I think this would make a great alternative to buying a full-size Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops for people that don’t think they can finish a bottle in a year for the face.
I think they’re denser… slightly larger particle size but not as glittery as the Glitter Drops so they are, in a way, more intense, too. I think they might be a good way to try the Cover FX formula and effect to see if it’s something one likes – particularly if the interest was in using it as a standalone product (rather than for mixing).
Love them all but would have to choose Celestial. Can it be mixed with or added on top of another lip color to soften the “glow”?
Pretty shine – I do believe I will purchase the second one and try it over a lipstick and see how it looks! Maybe pretty?! Thank you (as always) for the swatches and your reviews!
I absolutely love Celestial!Amethyst is another beautiful one.Halo I’m still undecided on.I have been holding off on these instead of just ordering them all because I wanted to see if you had any issues with them flaking or cracking off of the eyes.I read some of the reviews on the Sephora app and most of the reviews were positive but one mentioned that within in an hour of a thin application they had flakes all over their face.It scared me a bit because I hate when that flaking happens.
These are really beautiful! I think for lips, I’d use them over a pencil or lipstick.
