Cover FX Warm Honey Monochromatic Blush Duo Review & Swatches

Warm Honey

Cover FX Warm Honey Monochromatic Blush Duo ($38.00 for 0.51 oz.) contains a satiny, medium brown blush with a more shimmery, peachy-brown blush. The two worked well together with the right side adding shine and luminosity without lightening the left side much. Both shades had good pigmentation, were blendable and easy to use, and lasted for nine hours on me–another winner!

Warm Honey (Left)

Warm Honey (Left) is a muted, medium brown with warm, reddish undertones–more rust than rose–and a satin-matte finish. The consistency was incredibly silky and smooth without having any powderiness, yet was yielding and easy to pick up with a brush. The pigmentation was opaque in one layer, though it was easy to spread and diffuse for less coverage if preferred. It wore well for nine hours on me before fading slightly.

Formula Overview

The duo includes both a "monochromatic matte and shimmer shade" that can be used "individually or layer[ed] together." The blushes are described as having "high-impact payoff" with no other specifics. The consistency of the matte shades was incredibly silky, finely-milled, and smooth without being powdery--they were thinner but not difficult to apply and sat well on bare skin as well as over foundation. The pigmentation ranged from semi-opaque to opaque and was definitely buildable.

Both the matte and shimmer products wore between eight and nine hours on me.

Warm Honey (Right)

Warm Honey (Right) is a soft, peachy brown with warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It’s interesting how shimmery they appear swatched, but the shimmer softens and seems to “melt” when applied and blended out as a cheek color. The blush was smooth to the touch, dense without being too firmly pressed in the pan, and had sat beautifully on my skin without emphasizing my natural texture. It had rich color coverage that adhered well for nine hours on me before showing signs of wear.

The shimmery shades were slightly firmer with more of a powder-gel hybrid consistency that is firmer, denser but is often smoother and more "melted" when applied and blended out on skin. For this type of formula, I'd recommend a moderately dense blush or highlighter brush. Most of the shimmery shades had a luminous sheen--smoother, shinier finish but not intense or metallic. I found that layering the matte over the shimmer to yield a more intense shimmer effect, which is more of a tip from me to you than a pro/con.

Both the matte and shimmer products wore between eight and nine hours on me.

Swatched these yesterday. Chose mulberry, which I hope you’ll review. The peach, honey, and cinnamon all had pronounced orange bases/undertones on me. More orange than peach, brown, brick. When the swatches wore off, the shades were virtually indistinguishable, except for depth. Strange…as was the shimmer side of mulberry, that looked bronze. Your reviews will determine which warmer one I get, but not really sure for me that it makes much difference. Probably this one, as it was the most ‘medium.’ I guess the experience comes from the same place as ‘cool’ foundations looking straight up yellow on me. You live in your skin, and think it’s average/normal/regular, until this type of experience. Then you just get baffled.

I really want to try these blushes. I’m struggling to find the perfect blush that has a a pretty sheen (not glittery). I have the Becca X Malika palette and the Milani Coralina make my cheeks look like there are dry, gold glittery pieces of skin on my textured cheeks. This shade looks so pretty on you!

My personal favorite, and the main one I was looking forward to seeing reviewed by you. And, it is a Temptalia Recommended! These are the sorts of shades that I absolutely love of my own face. Warm, but not yellowish or starkly warm, either. Just right!

Gosh, this is another gorgeous duo. It is going to be very difficult paring down my list! I really need to sit with my blush collection and look specifically for holes in my collection. This looks so pretty on you, Christine and compliments the eye look so well.

How stunning is this? Pefect scores across both shades, this range is so good. I would have to try them in person to see which duo would suit me the best.

I feel like this is the duo I’m most into, but I’m thinking I really need to swatch them in person (and take inventory of my existing blushes) before taking the plunge. Glad to see I don’t own any of the outright dupes, though.

Just dropped in to say that someone did a really nice job designing these compacts — very visually appealing.
