Cover FX Mojave Mauve Monochromatic Blush Duo Review & Swatches
Mojave Mauve
Cover FX Mojave Mauve Monochromatic Blush Duo ($38.00 for 0.51 oz.) contains two, warmer pink hues, one with a matte finish and one with a more pearly, luminous sheen. They can be worn alone or layered with the shimmery shade adding more shimmer but not drastically altering the overall blush color. Both shades had good pigmentation and longevity while being blendable and easy to work with.

The duo includes both a "monochromatic matte and shimmer shade" that can be used "individually or layer[ed] together." The blushes are described as having "high-impact payoff" with no other specifics. The consistency of the matte shades was incredibly silky, finely-milled, and smooth without being powdery--they were thinner but not difficult to apply and sat well on bare skin as well as over foundation. The pigmentation ranged from semi-opaque to opaque and was definitely buildable.
Both the matte and shimmer products wore between eight and nine hours on me.

Mojave Mauve (Left)
Mojave Mauve (Left)is a light-medium pink with warmer undertones and a matte finish It had good color coverage in a single, which needed half of a layer added on top to build it to full coverage. The consistency was smooth and silky to the touch without being powdery nor was it too firmly pressed in the pan–it almost had a velvety slip to it. The color applied well to bare skin and blended out with ease. It stayed on well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Mojave Mauve (Right)
Mojave Mauve (Right) is a medium pink with soft, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. It appeared a bit more shimmery/frosted when swatched on my arm, but when I applied it to my cheeks and blended it out, the finish was more moderate, smoother, and luminous rather than overtly shimmery. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in one pass, though it could be built up to full coverage easily. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours on me before I noticed any fading.

The shimmery shades were slightly firmer with more of a powder-gel hybrid consistency that is firmer, denser but is often smoother and more "melted" when applied and blended out on skin. For this type of formula, I'd recommend a moderately dense blush or highlighter brush. Most of the shimmery shades had a luminous sheen--smoother, shinier finish but not intense or metallic. I found that layering the matte over the shimmer to yield a more intense shimmer effect, which is more of a tip from me to you than a pro/con.
Both the matte and shimmer products wore between eight and nine hours on me.

I’m so glad you reviewed this and gave it a glowing A! As you know from my comments elsewhere regarding these blushes, I love them. Mojave Mauve is the first one I purchased, which led me to purchase all of the other colors. I think I love them as much or almost as much as my Marc Jacobs Air Blushes.
Very fresh and lively pink tones! This may just be a shade of true pink that doesn’t look too jarringly “Barbie Girl World” on me? I’ll have to test drive it when it comes to Sephora, which it may have already for all I know!
Yes, they are already at Sephora — and Ulta and the Cover FX website and Beautylish.
Thanks for that info, Christina! I haven’t been over to my local Sephora in several weeks, so I wasn’t sure whether bthey had them in-store yet.
I have seen so many stellar reviews of these blushes and they appear to be really beautiful. I am definitely interested in picking up a couple of them. I am not sure once applied, how they would compare to my Ciate Glow to Illuminate blushes but these seem like they would give a similar effect with the shimmer over the matte. Just need to decide which one I want to try first. None of the highlighter portions are light enough for me to use as an actual highlighter but over the blush they work.
I like this kind of blush duo – complementary shades in the matte and glowy finish. These are pefect.
I love the colors of this blush, but I also love the lipstick you are wearing with it. Could you please let us know what lipstick you are wearing in this review.
Thank you
I’m kind of in love with these duos, and a large part of that is the retro PC-esque packaging…thanks, Samantha. I’ll wait for dupes before MAYBE picking one, and then I’ll probably wait to get it when I have an extra 10% off at work.
Ohhh, these look really beautiful. I’ve heard nothing but good things about them.
Absolutely lovely!
Another knockout!
