IT Cosmetics Magical in Mauve Vitality Cheek Stain Review, Photos, Swatches
IT Cosmetics Magical in Mauve Vitality Cheek Stain
IT Cosmetics Magical in Mauve Vitality Cheek Stain ($24.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a rich, brightened, berry-purple with cool undertones and a soft, frosted finish. Kevyn Aucoin Neolita (P, $37.00) is warmer. MAC Hot Nights (LE, $21.00) is similar. NARS Oasis (P, $29.00) is more muted, warmer. MAC Restores Dazzle (LE, $21.00) is a cream product. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
It’s intensely pigmented–a little goes such a long way! If you prefer a very foolproof blush, you might look elsewhere, as this requires a very feathery touch to control just how much gets applied. The powder itself has a soft, buttery, and silky consistency, so it is easy to blend out on the skin and diffuse for softer color. It’ll be a nice option for anyone who prefers a more pigmented blush that doesn’t require building to get true-to-pan color. As the blush gets blended and buffed onto the skin, it looks more luminous than shimmery with a light glow and a distinctive “stained” look, even though it is a powder. This shade wore well for ten hours before fading slightly along the edges.

This is a gorgeous shade but I am worried that even applied with a light hand it’d be too dark on me!
It’s definitely blendable, so I think even very fair skin tones could wear it, but it needs a light hand for sure!
Wow! Love. And today is the last day of their 25% off too, right?
I think so!
Beautiful! I’m a bit blushed out at the moment, though. I bought six Nars blushes during the Sephora sale o_O
Good thing it’s permanent! 😀
Whoa, this is pigmented! I will have to check this one out, in a pink color, because blushes (even the long-wearing ones) have a habit of disappearing on my cheeks, but this one looks like it will stick around. On a side note, can you answer my question about the Burberry Nude Radiance Luminous Fluid – does it have any fragrance?
Hey Katherine,
I’m still getting an answer on the Burberry – that is why it is pending, because I haven’t had a moment to double check that for you yet. I should add that I’ve had a stuffed nose for the past few days, and I didn’t note any scent originally so I haven’t felt like I could give you a great answer based on my current lack of smelling ability 🙂
Ok, thanks! No worries, just let me know when you get the answer. I’m recovering from a cold, so I know all about stuffed noses…..hope your nose gets better soon. Thanks again
Hope your cold goes away soon!! 🙂
Oooh that’s pretty! This is definitely a color that’s lacking in my stash.
It is a more unique shade!
I love the shade (and it’s so pretty on you), but in all honesty I am a little intimidated by very pigmented blushes! Do you use a fan brush for something like this, Christine?
I usually just use a very light hand with a regular brush for me 🙂
Beautiful! Have you tried other shades from the line? Thinking about to get either peoney or rose color, the mauve one is a bit dark to my skintone.
I reviewed Pretty in Peony previously!
One of my favorite blushes! I have the matte red one (can’t remember the name). I want the other two. Like I really need more blush but well ya know lol 😀 😀
Haha! 😉 What applicator do you use with them?
Angled blush brush or Real Techniques Duo-Fiber Contour Brush
Love this!
I love how it is a more unique shade!
I love the colour of this but I think I’d have to be extremely careful applying this to avoid looking like a clown! I appreciate sheerer blushes simply because I don’t need to worry so much about going overboard. I love having such pale skin though so I can’t complain :P.
I totally understand 😉
Such a gorgeous blush. I don’t have a colour like this but I love it! 🙂 x
It is a nice shade!
Very pretty! Definitely a great shade for fall/winter
Agreed!
I have this blush and it is amazing on the cheeks! I use an IT Cosmetics blush brush to apply it. I bought mine as a set through QVC, and the brush is the perfect tool for this highly pigmented blush!
Happy to hear the brush works well with it!
This color is gorgeous! Definitely very fall 🙂 Christine, do you think these are comparable to theBalms Instain blushes? Better, maybe? I find theBalms blushes to be a bit hard to blend sometimes.
They seem similar, but these are denser, so they might be more blendable.
That’s really pretty. I’d need a light hand for sure, though.
It is a lovely shade!
“MAGICAL” is the perfect name for this. What a stunning, amazing and gorgeous shade! And it is uncommon as well. My collection will be enriched by it.
It will be gorgeous on you!
WOW! That looks gorgeous! I just might have to check that out! 😀
Hope you can try it, April!
I’ve loved just about every product I’ve used from IT Cosmetics. I hope they have this blush in some sort of “showstopper” when they’re back on Canadian tv in a week or 2. This blush looks stunning on you, Christine.
Fingers crossed that they will!
Oof. This is stunning! O_o
It even get bonus points for its colour having something to do with mauve, LOL! For some reason when I saw the swatch, the first thing I thought was ‘this is a blush match for Revlon Icy Violet lipstick’. I actually have no idea if this is the case, but it really reminded me of that lipstick for some reason.
Rambling aside – it’s beautiful on you! And we all know how I like me some pigmented blush…
Thank you, Sylirael! 🙂
Lovely, but already have and love Oasis.
Money saved!
I’m quite fair and I have another rosier shade of this blush. The first time I applied it, it was WAY too but the second time I used a lighter hand and shook off the extra blush from my brush before applying and it was much better for my skin tone.
Phew! Glad you were able to get it to work better the second time 🙂
I want to rock this with a plum lip!
Awesome!
So pretty! I’d love this for winter on my fair skin.
It would be lovely on fair skin!
Very nice but too dark for me. I’ll have to check out the other colors.
Hope one of the other ones will work for you!
Need a suqqu cheek brush for this. When I bought my first Clinique brush, there was .4 oz of product. The amount gets smaller and smaller each year.
That would work well with it!
Oh this is really pretty! I told myself no more blush unless it was unique:) I think this counts! I was looking into their other shades, too. Do you think the Pretty in Peony you reviewed this spring would be a close dupe for MAC Supercontinental? I’ve been looking for a dupe of that shade for forever! Online, it looks like there’s a little more hot pink in the Peony?
It is pretty unique 🙂
I think it may be more shimmery and pinker!
Love this on you. And I have Neolita so will probably not get it. But this is the right blush complement for a whole range of berry — burgundy– wine lip pies.
Thank you, Alison!
Thats beautifully gorgeous on you Christine 🙂
I’m planning to give them a shot
It will be beautiful on you, Rashmi!
Love love this shade! I was afraid it woul dbe too strong but the colour payoff is incredibly nice and complimentary to your skintone!
Thanks a lot, Stephanie!
Wow, what a beautiful shade! Definitely too dark/intense for me, but lovely all the same. I’ll bet I would love some of the other shades (there must be other shades), but I better not look ‘coz I just placed my IT Cosmetics order. I bought more of their fab CC cream and I finally bought a couple of their so soft brushes.
Glad you were able to take advantage of their sale!
Wow that looks amazing! Really pretty on you!
Thanks, Malia!
Ooh, this is really pretty! I’ve been cataloguing purple blushes, and this is one I hadn’t come across before.
It is really lovely — especially if you love pigmented blushes!
Glad to see an IT Cosmetics product. Please review more of their products!
Thanks for the suggestion!
wow, love the shade.. will look nice on my medium skin tone I believe 🙂
I think it would, Ritu!
Oh darn- did I miss a 25% off sale? I really want to try a few of their products- but would have loved a discount. The blush is very pretty on you- natural looking!
They just extended it, Trish!
Oh KOOL- Thank You Thank You Christine 4 the info. I’m on “It”
This might be a common question but is there a way I can see just the “temptalia recommends” products? For the first time I did use the products tab and select the specific products, that was incredible!! Such an amazing feature! 43 pages of highlighters lol!!
In the sidebar, there is a section called “Best of Temptalia” and you’ll find a link to “Recommended Products” – http://www.temptalia.com/temptalia-recommends
Looks like Breezy’s mauve cousin lol. Looks v pretty on you Christine!
Thanks, Dee!
This is beautiful, but I don’t think my touch is light enough to make it work, lol. That’s why I prefer lighter, “impossible-to-overdo” shades like Orgasm, Ilamasqua Katie, MAC Tea Pink and Easy Manner, etc.
I have the Natural Beauty eye palette and Bye Bye Pores finishing powder from It Cosmetics; I really love them, and they get a lot of use. I’m anxious to try some of their other products, just wish this product came in a lighter color. 🙂
PS. Thank you SOO much for using my question; I can’t wait to try out some tips today! <3
My pleasure <3 Appreciate you submitting!
I like it! Not sure it would jive on my flareup days but on good skin days it would be awesome with a light hand!
I like it! Very pretty.
I can see this as a WOC blush like Nc45 and darker.reminds me of Mac fever and Mac gentle
