IT Cosmetics Hello Light Illuminating Powder
IT Cosmetics Hello Light Illuminating Powder ($24.00 for 0.33 oz.) is a warm-toned, medium beige with a frosted finish. Becca Moonstone (P, $38.00) is lighter. theBalm Mary Lou-manizer (P, $24.00) is lighter. MAC Star! (LE) is similar. MAC Belightful (LE) less gold. Chanel Mouche de Beaute Illuminating Powder (LE, $80.00) is darker. bareMinerals The Shining Moment (LE, $26.00) is a little lighter. Bobbi Brown 24 Karat (P, $42.00) is more frosted, darker. See comparison swatches.
This is supposed to give a “true airbrushed look that works on all ages.” It’s also supposed to give a “natural radiance” while blurring pores and imperfections. It’s actually a very chameleon-like product, because in the pan and when photographed, it looks almost golden beige, but I noticed that at times, it looked almost showed as a silvery-white gleam on my medium complexion–ashy in a way, so it might be better suited for fairer skin tones. For a less pronounced sheen, I would recommend a stippling brush and a lighter hand. It doesn’t have glitter, but it has very, very fine shimmer that translates into a highly reflective sheen. The only way I could get this to apply and not look metallic was with a fan brush and use very, very little product. It didn’t do well on drier skin, as it emphasized the imperfections. I don’t feel like this blurred any pores or imperfections on my skin at all. The texture is incredibly soft and finely-milled, almost buttery, and really feels like silk. I love a good highlighter, and there are so many I love and reach for, but this one felt like three times the work to get just right. Once on, it lasts eight hours on me.

Pretty! Not sure about the silvery shimmers on me, I’d have to try it in person I guess, it does look lovely in the pan and on your skin
I don’t know if it’s my skin tone being medium that’s causing it or not!
Oooo! I may look in to this. I love me a super reflective, metallic highlighter! I also really like the color of this one.
Yay!!
This is one IT cosmetics product I haven’t tried (it might be what came in a “face disc” I have but the labelling and naming of products leaves a bit to be desired) but I’ve tried so many IT products that are totally amazing. There’s a 5th anniversary special/showstopper thing coming up on The Shopping Channel in the next week or two and I’m hoping this might be part of the promotion. They truly make some fabulous products.
A lot of people raved about this, but there are some unfavorable reviews–but the majority seems to love this product! I have seen some reviews that touch on the emphasis of lines/pores but that it does illuminate well.
wonderful! it looks so dimly on swatch and so glow on face. could you compare it with Kevyn Aucoin Candlelight The Celestial Powder. they look very similar and i don’t know what I want anymore. Thnx =)
The Celestial Powder is less golden/warm, and it doesn’t emphasize pores at all!
Pass. For where it is made and for the price tag, there are so many choices.
There are a lot of options on the marketplace nowadays!
It looks like a nice highlight on you!
Thanks, Rikki!
Oooh..very pretty! How does it compare to Hourglass Ambient Light in Luminous?
This is much more metallic!
Thank you!
Ah I am not sure this wuld work for me but it does look gorgeous on you!
Aw, thank you!
This looks gorgeous on you!
Thank you!
That’s very shimmery, not surprising when you see that mica is the first ingredient. You can get a similar result by mixing a liquid foundation with some loose mica based eyeshadow and using it as an highlighter. The color is very pretty though.
Good to know! Thanks for sharing, Judith 🙂
Oooh I likey! I don’t think the price is too bad either! I always wanted to try their brushes one day!
Maybe watch for a QVC special with this + brush!
If we had this brand here, I would, for science, swatch it on my vampire, cool toned skin and let you know if it had the same effect 😀 unfortunately, we don’t get this brand 😛
Haha!
Always in the name of science 😉
is the kevyn aucoin celestial powder still your favorite powder highlight (it won the editor’s choice award) or is there something you like better? do you prefer liquid or powder for highlighter? sorry for so many question. i had a diorskin shimmer star than got shattered and have been neglecting powder highlighters ever since (easily 2 years ago). i have a few liquids, but i don’t reach for them very often because i never feel like i have enough time to make them look really good.
Lately, I’m really loving the liquid version of Kevyn Aucoin’s Celestial – I mix it in with foundation and voila! But for powder, Kevyn Aucoin’s still my favorite 🙂
I have such a weakness for highlighters & this is gorgeous!
Glad you liked it, Danielle!
That’s quite subtle! I like it!
Really? It was so metallic to me!
Hm I don’t know if it’s worth such a struggle to make a product work. It looks pretty on you though.
I would probably pass!
I just swatched this the other day, actually. I suspect it would be a tad too warm for my skintone, but it was rather pretty. It’s definitely a highlighter for people who love their intense metallics, and I’ve got that plenty covered for me with NARS Copacabana.
I was surprised to see so many raves for it, only because it is very metallic, which doesn’t seem to be a finish people love (generally) on cheeks?
It looks great on you…:-)
Thanks, Rashmi!
I love It Cosmetics and have been wanting this for awhile! Our skintones are kind of similar, so I may need this as it looks GORGEOUS on you! <3
Thanks a lot, Shipra!
great review as always! Also, what lip color are you wearing? It’s stunning!
YSL Corail Jalouse Rouge Volupte Lipstick.
Not a fan of this but the company does make a. loose illuminating powder that I own & really love. Their blush stains are also really amazing with phenomenal staying power.
Might have to try the loose version! Thanks for the recs, Sandra!
It actually photographs well, Christine! But my, that does sound quite a bit of work.
It definitely seems to photograph better than it looks in person, lol!
