ColourPop x Hello Kitty Yummy Smoothie Lip Balm Trio Review & Swatches
Yummy Smoothie
ColourPop Yummy Smoothie Glowing Lip Balm Trio ($34.00 for 0.11 oz.) includes three creamy lip colors with more medium coverage that had a lot of creaminess and glide. They felt more like ultra-creamy lipsticks than a like a lip balm, which can be emollient but has less substance to it. They are overly emollient, so while comfortable to apply and to wear, they don’t look that flattering on. It is the type of formula that feels better than it looks, and if you’re someone who looks more at a distance, they may be sufficient for you!

Hello Fruity
Hello Fruity is a brighter, raspberry pink with subtle, cool undertones and a glossy, cream finish. It had medium color coverage with a very creamy, emollient consistency that never tugged but was a little too readily slid across my lips, so it was harder to get even edges for me. The product applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip texture. It wore well for three hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$9.00/0.09 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "hydrating" with a tint of color and shine. They're lightly hydrating but not a replacement for top tier lip balm in my experience, but they're comfortable to wear, easy to throw on, and pretty much do what I think most readers would expect from a tinted lip balm.
The tint was noticeable, which was nice, so the shades didn't run together. The consistency was firmer but not stiff, and it glided comfortably across my lips without tugging. They had more semi-sheer to medium coverage with an even amount of translucency, which applied evenly and seemed more forgiving of lip texture. They lasted two to three hours, and the tint wasn't that much of a stain, so they required frequent reapplication.
There was a sweet, minty scent but no discernible taste.

Hello Fruity
LELimited Edition. $9.00.
Tropic Cute
Tropic Cute is a brighter, medium coral with moderate warm undertones–not too pink, not too orange–with a creamy finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage, which did not apply as evenly as ideal and looked streaky along the edges. I had to be careful not to press my lips together as the product moved around easily and left lines of demarcation. It lasted for two hours and had a tendency to settle into my lip lines, though it was lightly moisturizing over time.

Tropic Cute
LELimited Edition. $9.00.
Fun in the Sun
Fun in the Sun is a muted, peachy-coral with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage, which made it closer to the marketing of the three. The texture was lightweight, smooth, and very creamy, which made it comfortable to apply but it often over-applied or glided too easily across my lips. This shade was prone to emphasizing and catching around any imperfections (even after exfoliating) and getting into my lip lines. It stayed on decently for two and a half hours but was lightly hydrating.

Going off the arm swatches, I really thought I would want these. But now looking at the close-up pics, I don’t. They look uneven and downright messy.
So, so average – bring on some more Lux Lipsticks CP – these were the winners.
The packaging looks like a kiddie version of the Sharpie yellow highlighters. I prefer that my lip products not look like they came from a remainders bin at Office Depot.
I feel like ColourPop’s quality has been going downhill because their collabs get hyped up so much, but like…. you can get better Hello Kitty makeup in nicer packaging for much cheaper from Asian brands on Yesstyle. CP’s stuff seems so low-effort in comparison.
I actually really like the yellow packaging, even it it does look tacky and cheap, ha ha!
These make me think of the Fresh Tinted Lip Treatments – lovely to wear, but a very buttery/melty/smeary texture and you have to be super careful applying them so they don’t snap off or smush into the tube…
I’m very much into the K-Beauty style gradient/diffused colour lip look at the moment, so I’ll be interested to see how these look with a little work.
