ColourPop Weekend Mood Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Weekend Mood
ColourPop Weekend Mood 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.32 oz.) is a nine-pan released for Target, which featured warmer neutrals with pops of coral. A few of the mattes were more powdery than typical, which resulted in some sheerness, but the quality was in line with what I expect from the brand (solid: pigmented, blendable, long-wearing, easy enough to apply).

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

This is one that I like, but cannot love because the only mid-lid shade is a pressed PET glitter. Odd, since I didn’t notice it at first glance at the palette! However, had that one shade been of the mica variety or just a super glossy looking metallic (what I initially thought it was!), I would have perhaps gotten it.
OK – another orangey red leaning palette this time. However I really do love the way CP does its bronze, gold and copper shimmery shades. Beach Trip is lovely.
I have been slowly building a cart on ColourPop and then went to check my shadows and lippies from the brand. I have quite a collection of SSS that I purchased from the brands inception up to the pandemic and they are all still useable. I was surprised that they had not dried out, do not have an odor and apply to my arm the same as they did when they were new. The pressed powders do not seem to have faired as well. They have always had a slightly dustier formula, at least on me but many of the ones I have in older palettes are basically falling apart when I put a brush on them. I have to evaluate whether I want to buy anymore pressed shadows from the brand. I also don’t like the glitter shades in the palettes. What I do like is the size. They are perfect for travel as they are small enough to pack away and contain enough colors to do several different types of looks. Of course, right now it seems everything they put out is pink/red/orange/copper and I certainly have enough of those colors. I have some Chanel quads that date back to the early 2000’s that are still useable and apply just as they did when I first purchased them. I am going to hold off on ColourPop until I reevaluate what I really need in my collection going forward.
