ColourPop Trill Seeker & Confetti Cake Matte Lux Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Trill Seeker
ColourPop Trill Seeker Matte Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium, cornflower blue with cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good color payoff in a single layer, though it wasn’t opaque and was hard to build up as the more product I applied, the more obviously the color separated along my lip lines. I really struggled with mitigating how often the color settled into my lip lines, so even though I could smooth it out to some degree by pressing my lips together, it always settled right back into my lip lines. The color stayed on well for four and a half hours, stain slightly, but it had settled quite noticeably within two hours of wear. The good news was that it wasn’t drying.

Formula Overview
$7.00/0.12 oz. - $58.33 Per Ounce
The Matte Lux formula is supposed to have a "velvet matte" finish that's "long-wearing" with "intense pigmentation and a soft blurring finish." Most of the shades are quite pigmented with four to six hour wear and a non-drying feel. The texture varied a bit as some shades were smooth, velvety, and thin without emphasizing my lip lines or pulling into them but several separated along my lip lines noticeably or color settled into my lip lines over time. I didn't get much scent from them--possibly subtle sweetness--and no discernible taste.

Confetti Cake
ColourPop Confetti Cake Matte Lux Lipstick ($7.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium-dark, green-leaning teal with subtle, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. The pigmentation was nearly opaque in a single layer, while the consistency was velvety and smooth, which made for a comfortable application, but it pulled away at my lip lines and looked “cracked” applied. It lasted for four and a half hours, stained slightly, and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Fenty did these shades better, I’d say. So did MAC with Show & Teal. Not that I’d be able to pull them off, especially that super cool-toned blue Trill Seeker! I’m kicking myself for not buying Show & Teal, though….
Might wear these shades, were I (much) younger. I’m comfortable with navy/dark green…to me, they’re conservative colors. Actually, really don’t favor many midranges, even in the ‘regular’ colors. Agree with Nancy, seen better.
These shades would not work at all for me, but I’m still disappointed that these CP Lux lipsticks didn’t score higher.
Something about Trill Seeker brings back warm memories of the big box of Crayola crayons with the built-in sharpener that I loved so much as a child. 😀
