ColourPop Pillow Talk, Hollywood Blvd., Chateau Matte X Lippie Stix Reviews, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop Pillow Talk Matte X Lippie Stix
ColourPop Pillow Talk Matte X Lippie Stix ($5.00 for 0.035 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark brown with subtle, warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque color coverage with a very smooth, velvety consistency that glided on effortlessly, but the texture did feel a bit thin and clingy once on. This one highlighted the natural texture of my lips slightly and would visibly pull apart when I widened my mouth or smiled. The color lasted for six hours with slightly more fading from the center of the lips. It was somewhat drying over time. Kaleidos Echo Valley (P, $12.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Make Up For Ever Neutral Beige (107) (P, $20.00) is lighter (95% similar). Anastasia Dread (P, $18.00) is darker (95% similar). MAC Cold Hard Cash (LE, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Hollywood Blvd. Matte X Lippie Stix ($5.00 for 0.035 oz.) is a dark brown with warm, orange tones and a mostly matte finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage paired with a creamy, smooth texture that was thin and lightweight but never dragged or tugged at the lips. It’s interesting how nice these feel going on, but they aren’t always comfortable after a few hours. This shade wore away evenly and wasn’t clingy for most of the wear, but it was drying after four hours (lasted for six and a half in total). MAC Derriere (P, $19.00) is darker (95% similar). Tarte Brownie (P, $20.00) is glossier (90% similar). ColourPop Tansy (P, $7.00) is lighter (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Boutique Brown (P, $40.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Chateau Matte X Lippie Stix ($5.00 for 0.035 oz.) is a deep burgundy with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage, but it was one of the “sheerer” shades in the range. The color went on really evenly, which is sometimes an issue with these types of colors. The color wore well for over seven hours and was somewhat drying over time. Sephora Autumn Wind (54) (P, $14.00) is warmer (95% similar). ColourPop Chola (LE, $7.00) is darker (95% similar). Anastasia Brandy (P, $18.00) is lighter (95% similar). ColourPop Thousand Percent (LE, $6.00) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Prim (P, $7.00) is cooler (90% similar). Giorgio Armani Nightberry (201) (P, $38.00) is lighter, cooler, glossier (85% similar). Makeup Geek Risque (P, $15.00) is cooler (90% similar). YSL Reverse Red (18) (P, $39.00) is cooler (85% similar). KVD Beauty Nahz Fur Atoo (P, $19.00) is lighter, glossier (80% similar). ColourPop Pencil Me In (LE, $7.00) is darker, cooler (85% similar). FORMULA OVERVIEW | ColourPop Matte X Lippie Stix ($5.00 for 0.035 oz.) is supposed to have “full coverage” in one stroke that is “long-wearing” with “the smoothest, most velvety glide” while still retaining a “super matte finish.” The formula glides on really well, and they have a smooth, lightweight texture that feels thin and has a more powdery, matte finish on the lips. Some are really comfortable to wear for most of the time, a few are somewhat drying earlier on and may look drier or “cracked,” though the majority look good applied. They are longer-wearing; not quite as long as the Ultra Matte or Ultra Satin range but longer than the average lipstick. I found most shades that I’ve tested thus far (about half the range) to be comfortable for most of the time. The formula held up fairly well to eating and very well for drinking/sipping out of a cup or mug. As they are thin, they don’t really slide or move around on my lips, so once they do start to fade or lose color, it’s better to re-apply than try to smooth back into place. The formula has a light vanilla scent but no discernible taste. They come in the same type (and amount) as the regular Lippie Stix range, so it’s worth noting that they contain less than a standard lipstick tube at 0.035 oz. (the average tube is around 0.10 oz.).

I ordered Chateau and can’t wait for it to arrive. I also love the look of Hollywood and will definitely order it when it’s back in stock (and the elusive Dopey ultra satin lip color!!). On a side note, Colourpop also should seriously hire temp staff to get them up to speed in processing their backlog of orders! They take at least five business days just to pack your order, let alone ship. For my last order, I believe they went over their estimated packing date, so my order arrived perhaps two weeks after I submitted it online. They must be doing very well, but they should definitely be mindful that they are going to be viewed as more of a serious makeup retailer and less of a tiny niche entity now, and they will therefore be subject to the sort of consumer expectations that attach to bigger businesses.
I swear I saw that they posted a note on Instagram to the effect of hiring more staff/temporary staff, but they definitely seem to be going through major growing pains.
Those colors look beautiful on you!
Thanks, Bade!
Love Chateau, but I’m still making my way through multiple dupes. Hollywood Blvd was sold out during the flash sale, they’ve re-stocked, and will order once I have enough items on wishlist to meet free shipping.
With ColourPop, I bet the wait won’t be long until they release more things to tempt you, lol!
You wear these so WELL! I don’t think everyone would look so good in these as you do.
Thanks, Melissa!
Nice, Pillow Talk like Zayn’s song :)) Gigi was wearing a nude lipstick.
These are pretty, I hope they’ll come to Romania, too.
Fingers crossed!
I like the colors, but not so much what I’m seeing of the matte formula.
It’s more comfortable than most mattes, but I prefer the Ultra Satins!
Don’t ya just love Colourpop? You can say, love Chateau. Yeah, Prim. Hey, it’s CP, why not both? What other company lets us do that? CP, thanks for the ride.
It is nice 😉
All too warm for me but Chateaux is lovely.
Hopefully some cooler shades will catch your eye!
Chateau is a really lovely looking deep brown-red! I love how vampy it looks. Pillow Talk definitely reminds me of MAC Styled In Sepia, of which I missed out on…before I knew that I actually wanted it? Yeah, weird I know!
It is a really rich shade!
Just love Chateau – but the other lipsticks look very pale and can make a person look drawn. Love your eye makeup Christine.
Thank you!
I ordered Hollywood Blvd., Chateau, tickler, climax. I may have orderd more of this line but forgot. LOL These Fall colors look beautiful on your warm skin tone! I’m most excited for hollywood blvd. I’ve been wanting a warm brown like this for a while.
I hope you love ’em, Amanda!
