ColourPop Olive Super Shock Cheek Review, Photos, Swatches

ColourPop Olive Super Shock Cheek
ColourPop Olive Super Shock Cheek

ColourPop Olive Super Shock Cheek ($8.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “true baby pink in a matte finish.” It’s a light-medium pink with soft, cool blue undertones and a satin finish. (And in case you were wondering, the product is named after a dog, not the color olive.) ColourPop Mochi (P, $8.00) is less shimmery, slightly cooler-toned. ColourPop Prenup (P, $8.00) is darker. Physicians Formula Rose (P, $12.99) is similar, powder. MAC I’m a Lover (P, $23.50) is powder/ Makeup Geek Head Over Heels (P, $9.99) is powder. Dior Rose (001) (LE, $56.00) is powder. Make Up For Ever #210 HD Blush (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Blush (P) is more matte, powder. Givenchy It-Girl Purple (P, $44.00) is powder. theBalm Down Boy (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, powder. MAC Well Dressed (P, $21.00) is lighter, powder. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

The finish is definitely not matte–there is a shimmer you can see in the swatch, which is less noticeable applied to the cheeks and blended out. I don’t find it gives a real sheen, but it keeps the finish from looking flat. The Super Shock Cheek formula is a cream-based one that is supposed to have buildable coverage that will have the most payoff when applied with fingers and less color coverage when used with brushes. It had a smooth, velvety consistency with just a little creaminess to it–these feel more like clay than your traditional cream blush–that is very blendable on the skin as it blends more like a powder, so it doesn’t look streaky. The coverage was semi-sheer to semi-opaque at best but never fully opaque. On me, it wore well for eight and a half hours before fading.

Kind of a no brainier color for me… But I was planning on getting prenup. Do you think on fair skin their differences would show up enough to have both? They seem so different in the pan to me.

Hello Christine!

I think one of the photos is wrongly uploaded (3rd from top) as the label says ‘Rain’ instead of ‘Olive’. But we know it’s the ‘Olive’ blush anyway!

ColourPop is driving me crazy! Every time I think I’ve narrowed down my buy list for blushes, another one comes by that I want. This one is so gorgeous. All of them are actually. For $8 each, I might as well put their whole collection into my shopping cart and hit checkout!

Very pretty! Looks maybe too light for me. I am waiting for Mochi to be reviewed. Not that I need a blush or have money for a blush right this second now that Mr. Ford decided to come to town.lol. I did order their “in the Bloom” set along with a bunch of new shadows yesterday. Couldn’t resist after your review! I can’ t wait to try their highlighter!

I love their shadows but I’m having a really tough time getting the blushes to blend out naturally and I end up with pink dots where I initially place the color. Ideas??

BeautyCandie Avatar

Yes! I swirl my finger in the pot then put it on my cheeks in a dabbing motion and then swirl my finger over my check. Maybe a brush would help but the product doesn’t seem to stick to any brushes I try.

Hi, have you tried the new Kathleen lights shadows? Also not sure if you’ll be reviewing it, but could you give me your thoughts on the quality of the MAC burgundy X 9 palette? thanks!

This blush, like so many others, is already on my wish list! I can’t wait to see your review on the Kathleen Lights set either! 😀
