ColourPop Flitter Ultra Metallic Liquid Lipstick
ColourPop Flitter Ultra Metallic Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium-dark rosy pink with a ton of orange-gold shimmer that gives it a more metallic finish. The color dries down to a mostly matte finish, but it is also very shimmery–a matte metallic finish, if you will. The color itself is more uncommon due to the pinker base color and more matte finish, but I wish it applied more evenly and was more opaque (it’s nowhere near “super intense”). The texture was thin and yielded semi-sheer to semi-opaque pigmentation. The dry down did emphasize my lip lines and “cracked” slightly. On me, the color lasted for five hours and was a little drying. NARS Super Orgasm (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Jouer Rose (P, $18.00) is cooler (90% similar). Sephora Fancy Peach (115) (P, $14.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). Too Faced Metallic Debutante (P, $21.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (80% similar). Anastasia Beaming (LE, $20.00) is lighter, cooler (80% similar). Too Faced Metallic Peony (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (80% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Demsey (DC, $36.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
ColourPop Mugshot Ultra Metallic Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, rusty red with warm undertones and a metallic finish. Finally! This shade was nearly opaque in coverage, and the color applied evenly and smoothly across the lips with a minimal emphasis of lip lines. The formula was comfortable to wear, non-drying, and lasted for five and a half hours on me. MAC Pre-Raphaelite (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Synthetica (P, $56.00) is less shimmery, lighter, brighter (90% similar). ColourPop Kween (LE, $6.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Havoc (LE, $56.00) is less shimmery, darker, glossier (85% similar). MAC Show-All (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, brighter, warmer (90% similar). Anastasia Chrome Burgundy (LE, $20.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Ciate Flash (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter, glossier (80% similar). Anastasia Phantom (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery, darker, more muted (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
ColourPop DM Ultra Metallic Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is a rich, coppery bronze with warm, red undertones and a metallic finish. The texture was thin and was fairly easy to spread across the lips, but the color could have applied more evenly (which became more apparent after it dried down). It was comfortable to wear, as it wasn’t too clingy, but my lips “cracked” slightly when I smiled after the dry down. This shade wore for six hours but was a bit drying. Sephora Bronze Icon (59) (P, $14.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Roach (DC, $18.00) is cooler, glossier (90% similar). Urban Decay Smog (LE, $18.00) is more shimmery, lighter, glossier (85% similar). Urban Decay Cersei Lannister (LE, $18.00) is less shimmery, glossier (85% similar). NYX Wrath (P, $6.00) is lighter, brighter, glossier (80% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Omar (LE, $36.00) is lighter, brighter (80% similar). MAC Bronze Shimmer (P, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Formula Overview
ColourPop Ultra Metallic Liquid Lipstick ($6.00 for 0.11 fl. oz.) is supposed to be “super intense” with “high impact metallic pearls” and a “non-drying formula” that “is extremely long-wearing” (but it is “not completely transfer resistant”). Of ColourPop’s liquid lipstick formulas, this had the most slip and least pigmentation (across all four shades)–more semi-opaque, though they were buildable. The consistency spread well across the lips, but it could look more even; I think the darker coloring of the shades made some of the translucency less apparent. They dry down to a mostly transfer-proof finish, and they are flexible and comfortable to wear. I got between four and six hours of wear with these, and they seemed to break down easily with food compared to the Ultra Satins/Mattes. Two of the four shades were a little drying, while the other two were non-drying.

How close is Flitter to Nars Super Orgams? Thanks!
Super Orgasm is a lipgloss, so it is sheerer and very glossy with little base color!
I just mean is similar in color? Looks beautiful on you.
Predict that, despite its shortcomings, Flitter will be highly popular. Maybe not as fall-y as the others, but quite unusual. Man you CP carts, people. Not sure I can do a retread on metallics, but the darker shades are boffo.
They’re more unique, so there’s that – and layered over something else, I think they may be easier to work with, but I was bummed with standalone performance for sure.
Flitter reminds me so much of Nars Super Orgasm blush! Heh
I can see what you mean!
Dang these are pretty!
Would you say the transfer is similar to other metallic liquid lipstick if you have tried them? Anastasia Sad Girl I found does break down easier and it slightly transfers because of the shimmer particles compared to the rest in the line.
These were pretty minimal! I get a bit on the edges but not full on lip prints!
I’m wearing Flitter today. I don’t like it on its own -base is too sheer for my not-so-pigmented lips, the yellow gold sheen is too strong and metallic for my yellow undertones, and it felt heavy and drying, I could see lip lines. So I took it all off. Then I got an idea. I put Revlon Balmstain in Honey ( a brownish MLBB pink) underneath, then used Flitter as a topper over the center of the lips. Wow, what a difference! It feels so much more comfortable, and the color is very pretty (the yellow turns it into a slightly coral pink with gold sheen) and my lips look huge! I’m wearing it with Becca Gypsy blush, a soft pink with gold shimmers.
Happy to hear it looks better over the Balmstain!
That’s great to know Katherine! I have Flitter in my CP cart, it looks so pretty, but I wish it had received a better review. I also have both the Revlon Honey Balmstain, and Becca Gypsy Blush, so I’ll be all set to recreate your look!
No problem Pami ! It’s such a beautiful, unique color. Glad I could help/enable 🙂
I am taking note of your tips too, because I just ordered Flitter!
Enjoy Julia! It’s beautiful, like a highlighter for the lips 🙂
Thank you for that tip, Katherine! Yep, I do have that Honey Balmstain, it’s the only one I still use on any consistent basis out them all. So Flitter will be a go! ?
Awesome! Flitter’s a fun one to play with.
I’m happy to see that Mugshot performed well, because the color is already a win in my book. Yay!
YAY!
I had high hopes for Flitter 🙁
🙁
I got Mugshot and DM in the mail two days ago (along with Love Bug which is in the trash now)! Love them both! Got major compliments on Mugshot yesterday.
I’m glad you liked a couple from your order 😉
Very cool finish! But it’s not for me.
I can understand that!
Darrrrn I just ordered Flitter! I thought it looked nice in the couple of looks you used it in. Maybe it will look nicer/ more even with a gloss or balm over top – I don’t mind changing the texture or finish, I just bought it for the color combo of pink and gold.
I think it will look better with a gloss on top or you could put this over a lipstick!
Mugshot and DM are seriously tempting. Gorgeous!
They’re pretty!
Until reading Katherine’s comment below, I wasn’t going to get Flitter. But that decision may have just been reversed! I may even try my brand new MAC WNMHGB lipstick over Honey Balmstain to see whether that intensifies it some.
Then there is that beauty called Mugshot. OMG. That is a “must get” shade!
Hopefully Flitter works for you that way! 🙂
I purchased Mugshot and Flitter but haven’t worn either yet. I will use Flitter over a lipstick to add some shine!
Good call to use Flitter as a layering shade!
I ordered Flitter about 10 minutes after I saw it on you in a photo, I can’t even remember what you were reviewing as I fell in love with the lip product.
I think it’s less pink on my lips, it’s a bit like rose gold, or even more gold-y. On my lips it seems to apply evenly, and I think it looks opaque.
It does enhance the texture of the lips, it is a bit drying, and it takes rather a long time for it to dry down. However, it looks a lot better than most of the liquid mattes I’ve tried, some makes my lips look like very, very dry raisins, and that is NOT a good look, let me tell you! 🙂
Mugshot is also a very interesting and beautiful lipstick. I might just have to get it, mybe next time they have a good offer.
Flitter is a nifty shade for sure! I’m so jealous that yours is more even though!
Flitter is gorgeous. I have that and papaye from Jouer which is extremely similar. I don’t care for either formula on its own but as a topper works nicely
What do you like to put it on top of?
I am a huge fan of black lipstick so that or a deep purple!! It’s just ver I ter sting and different
I ordered Flitter a week ago after seeing it on you! It still has to ship over here to the UK tho, cheapest shipping was 3-5 weeks so it’ll be a while lol…Ordered 2 others as well, 3 way and Wolfie.
I hope you get yours soon, Claire!
