ColourPop Feminist Lippie Stix Review, Photos, Swatches

ColourPop Feminist Lippie Stix
ColourPop Feminist Lippie Stix

ColourPop Feminist Lippie Stix ($5.00 for 0.0352 oz.) is described as a “black purple in a matte finish.” It’s a blackened purple with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pagan (P, $18.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Smoked Purple (LE, $16.00) is lighter. MAC Firm Form (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The formula is supposed to be comfortable to wear and moisturizing, and then the coverage of the matte finishes is supposed to be full and extra long-wearing. It is intensely pigmented, and it lasted for eight hours, at which point I went to bed, but it left a significant stain behind (that was more fuchsia in nature). I wouldn’t consider this really a matte, as there is a decent shine to it that lingers for two to three hours before wearing down to a more matte finish. It is lightweight with a light creaminess; enough that it doesn’t drag or tug at the lips, but it doesn’t slide around. I was able to apply it fairly easily straight from the tube, but to get a really crisp edge (and it’s worth the extra step for a color like this), I’d still recommend a lip brush or going back in with concealer to clean-up the edges. It’s neither drying nor hydrating over time, and there’s a little tackiness to the color after a few hours, but it doesn’t seem to lift or disturb the color. The color is rich enough that it had no trouble surviving coffee and dinner. The formula seems to have a very subtle vanilla scent to me, but it isn’t noticeable once applied.

Worth noting, you don’t get a lot of product in the twist-up tube relative to your average lipstick tube (which is typically 0.10 oz. or 0.12 oz.), but it is more in line with similarly-packaged lip products (e.g. Bite Beauty’s Lip Crayons are 0.05 oz., NARS Pure Mattes are 0.07 oz., Tarte Power Pigments are 0.04 oz., Buxom True Nude Lip Foundations are 0.03 oz. and seem to have nearly identical packaging).

So gorgeous! Can’t wait for my tube to get here (looks like it should be today or tomorrow). I didn’t get the pencil because between Nightmoth and OCC’s Feathered, I think I should be fine. But yeah, it is the kind of color that benefits from a bit of concealer and/or liner. On a sadder note, my Viseart Bridal Satin arrived today but Sephora didn’t get it in the wrapping exactly, so it came with the gold shade broken all over it. The colors are so soft that adhering the broken bits back has been a bit of a struggle 🙁 It’s a BEAUTIFUL palette but I’d recommend those trying Viseart to maybe go for a pro/film/theater store over Sephora since they can be hit or miss with the wrapping.

OCC Tarred* of course. Ha. And I’m still bummed about the palette but mostly because it really is something special. It’s like super evenly-pigmented butter from makeup heaven. The quality really is uniquely great. And they appear to wear perfectly without primer so far 🙂

I’m so sorry that happened to you. The Viseart palettes are fantastic quality, but not inexpensive by any means. Sephora has phenomenal customer service. If you call them and explain the problem, they will take all steps necessary to get you a pristine palette.
…at least I would for that price point. There’s a few that I’m coveting but hoping to purchase at IMATS.
Good luck!!

Unfortunately because Viseart palettes are so handcrafted and made in such select quantities, they are unable to replace it. They refunded the cost, which is great, but I’d have to re-order for a pristine one because their stock is far too limited and unpredictable.

Poor Technopagan indeed. It’s jawdroppingly beautiful–and because I am a copywriter in Israel, I could wear it to work! But too impractical for me: I know myself. Maybe later. (I’m much more daring than I was 1 year ago.) I think the intermediate step might be those beautiful Revlon HD lip glosses you just reviewed. Those are amazing colors, and you display them beautifully.

I’ve been trying really hard to resist lip products, until I at least make a dent in my very large stash, but inthink this may even be backup-worthy, especially at that price.

I am loving the look of these ColourPop items but they don’t ship to the UK (yet, they said they were working on it) I am very much considering using a mailing service for some of their items though!

Amy Avatar

That’s not fair. I’d be happy to help you obtain the products. You can use my shipping address, when they come in I can figure shipping costs to you and send them right off.
I recently did a very happy transaction with another of Christine’s readers if you need a character reference. ☺️
Happy holidays!

Will you be reviewing lighter colors? I’m interested in their opacity and hydration for sensitive lips, to find out if they’re more an option or a gimmick.

I would buy this just for the name, love it!
The colour is also really stunning, I very rarely wear colours this dark but its very tempting just to have in my collection for special occasions, same reason I bought (and love) KVD Poe!

I recently purchased Cyber by MAC and just wore it out for the first time-it went on a tad patchy and, while it wasn’t particularly drying, this looks like it would be more comfortable to wear and seems to be much more opaque. Don’t think I’d return Cyber but I may need to scoop this up.

Thank you for your in depth review!

Would’ve loved to add this color to my collection because I don’t have anything like it but I absolutely HATE the name. It’s a shame they had to ruin such a pretty lipstick with that
