Extra Glazed

ColourPop Extra Glazed 4-Pan Cheek Palette ($12.00 for 0.3 oz.) includes one cream highlighter, one shimmery powder blush, and two matte blushes: champagne gold, pearly mid-tone pink, brighter, matte pink, and matte, rosy brown. They were fairly as-marketed with respect to pigmentation; the blushes were more buildable and hard to over-apply, though they had enough payoff to show up on skin.

I found that the texture of the blushes was very smooth and finely-milled, which didn’t seem to adhere as well to my arm (which is quite dry) but worked well on my face (ultimately, where I test cheek products!).

Smoke 'n Whistles

Smokin’ Whistles is a pale, champagne gold with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had more opaque pigmentation when applied with a fingertip, while sheerer, more buildable coverage could be achieved by applying with a brush (as marketed). The highlighter had a smooth, more emollient texture that felt almost wet to the touch but had that spongy consistency signature of the formula. It stayed on nicely for 10 hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

$10.00/0.15 oz. - $66.67 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have "buildable" coverage and can be applied with fingertips (which will yield "higher coverage") or a brush (for sheerer coverage). It's a cream-based product that has a subtle, "wet" feel to it but never has the thickness of a true cream-based blush.

It goes on with the smoothness of a cream formulation but diffuses and blends (without lifting up one's base) more like a powder product. The product sets to a powder finish, so the product won't slide around during the day.

On me, the wear tends to be between eight and 10 hours. Most shades have medium, buildable pigmentation with some being semi-opaque to opaque on occasion. They are typically blendable, easy to use, and long-wearing.

Pink Velvet

Pink Velvet is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and cooler pearl throughout. It had medium, buildable pigmentation with a soft, silky-smooth texture that was lightly powdery. It applied evenly to bare skin and blended out with ease, while the color lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview

$12.00/0.28 oz. - $42.86 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to go on "smoothly" and have a "natural and healthy flush" that has "long wear" and "can be layered to your desired intensity." It is a lightly to moderately powdery powder blush with semi-sheer to semi-opaque, buildable color payoff. The consistency has a drier, thinner feel and though it feels silky to the touch, I found it the type of powder blush can be tricky to blend out evenly on the skin, depending on one's skin type or base preferences. The drier the skin/base, the better the formula would blend, but any natural oils or slip caused the blush to go on unevenly and was difficult to blend out. The wear was between seven and eight hours on me on average.

Swirled

Swirled is a brighter, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage that was buildable to mostly opaque coverage with three layers. The consistency felt soft, smooth, and was blendable on my skin, but it was somewhat powdery and tended to adhere better to my cheeks (which aren’t as dry as my arm)–I didn’t notice any dryness/powderiness in practice, just on my arm. It wore decently for eight hours before showing signs of fading.

Strawberry Strudel is a light-medium, rosy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation (to semi-opaque with three layers) paired with a moderately powdery texture, though it felt finely-milled and silky. The product applied better to my cheeks, which were more normal-to-dry in type compared to my arm, which was drier. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours before fading a bit.
