ColourPop Byron Babe & After Shock Lippie Stix Reviews & Swatches
Byron Babe
ColourPop Byron Babe Matte X Lippie Stix ($6.00 for 0.0352 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color payoff in one pass, which adhered evenly on my lips without streaking, but the product pulled away along some of my deeper lip lines, which seemed just barely noticeable in person. The consistency felt velvety, smooth, and skated across my lips without tugging, and it was much more comfortable to wear than a matte, liquid lipstick typically is. This shade stayed on nicely for five and a half hours, left a pink stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$6.00/0.0352 oz. - $170.45 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "full-coverage" with a "super matte" finish that has a "lightweight and velvety feel." I'd agree with all of those things--most shades were opaque while a few were more semi-opaque to mostly opaque. The texture has a silicone-heavy feel to it, so it has the velvety slip that used to be more typical of face primers than lip products, but this silicone-heavy type of formula has made its way into lip products to give a more matte finish with a smoother, more velvety consistency. The consistency feels a bit denser, though it remains lightweight, and usually delivers even coverage in a single stroke that doesn't tug. The formula wears anywhere from four to eight hours on me, and it is typically neither drying nor hydrating. There's a soft, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

PPermanent. $6.00.
After Shock
ColourPop After Shock Matte X Lippie Stix ($6.00 for 0.0352 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied smoothly and evenly across my lips, but the product split noticeably along my lip lines. The texture was lightweight, velvety, and incredibly creamy going across my lips without the traditional slip of a creamy lipstick (drier but not dry). It wore well for five hours, left a faint pink stain behind, and was non-drying.

Byron Babe is a pink I could actually look really good in, I’m thinking! Love that it makes me think of a flower garden back home. ???
After Shock is *okay*. Probably best suited to lt.-med. and fairer folks, though.
Maybe it’s the pink shades, but you look extraordinarily happy and youthful in these swatches pictures. After Shock looks amazing, but seems to be a little too “hot-pink” looking for me.
I like Byron Babe a lot. Not sure if it would look great on my wrinkly lips but the shade is great. Probably would work a little better if I used a balm or gloss just to take away a bit of the matte look. I haven’t placed a ColourPop order in quite a while so will have to browse their site.
Some nice pinks here … for someone who’s into that sort of thing. 😉
