ColourPop Birthday Suit Super Shock Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
ColourPop Birthday Suit Super Shock Cheek
ColourPop Birthday Suit Super Shock Cheek ($8.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “neutral pink with a satin finish.” It’s a muted, medium pink with subtle, neutral-to-warm undertones and silver-ish micro-shimmer. NARS Fervor (Left) (P) is lighter, warmer, powder. Physicians Formula Natural (P, $12.99) is less sparkly, powder. Chanel Jardin de Chanel (LE, $55.00) is less sparkly, powder. MAC Modest Blush (LE, $27.00) is cooler-toned, powder. YSL Passionnee (6) (P, $47.00) is a powder. MAC Pink Sprinkles (LE, $21.00) is less sparkly, powder. MAC Lesson in Love (LE, $21.00) is lighter, powder. Charlotte Tilbury Love Glow (P, $40.00) is a powder. MAC Formal (LE) is more matte, powder. NYX Mauve (P, $5.00) is less sparkly, powder. NYX Dusty Rose (P, $5.00) is less sparkly, darker, powder. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Though the finish is described as a satin, I’ve found that the shimmer is very hard to see on the skin–they all look semi-matte once they get blended out on the skin. The texture is lightweight, blends easily without looking streaky or uneven, and stays put for eight and a half hours before fading becomes apparent. The texture is sponge-like–a definite cream-based product, but it lacks the slip of most traditional cream blushes. It is supposed to have buildable coverage with the most coverage achieved when applied with fingertips, but even applying with fingertips, I was only able to get semi-sheer pigmentation out of this shade, which was comparable to the coverage achieved using a denser synthetic brush. You can use a duo fiber or stippling brush for sheerer application that is still buildable to semi-sheer color payoff, if desired.

I like this. but, I think this shade would be better for fair skin girls or someone who just wants barely there color. Yeah,I can’t see the shimmer in your photo on your cheek. it’s still pretty though. It’s nice to have some options without shimmer. At the same time I could see someone not being happy that they see shimmer in the pan and that’s not what shows on their face. But, $8…so far, they seem to be pretty good quality considering the price.
I was surprised at how little the shimmer shows up!
I think it’s a really pretty shade but I have a lot of similar ones already.
Easy skip! 😀
This looks like a very versatile shade – a mix of pink, berry, plum – can go with a variety of lippies
Very true! For my skin tone, it’s an easy, goes-with-everything kind of shade.
All I see is colourpop everywhere these days lol! Everybody is raving and I still have not tried it! This color looks perfect.
So cheap, hard not to try it, lol!
This is one of the ones I want to get. I think it will look great on fair skin.
I totally agree!
I quite love this color. I have Charlotte Tilbury Love Glow and Nyx Dusty Rose and. Glad to see that there’s a dupe in the cream version.
So glad you have similar shades you can use! 🙂
Lovely color!
It is! I love seeing more neutral-toned shades.
I like it! And I personally don’t mind the lack of shimmer. For me that’s a plus, actually 🙂 Matte ftw!
Definitely not always a bad thing!
I like the shade! Neutral indeed!
Would be perfect for your skin tone, Erin!
I love this blush! It’s the only one I bought out of the collection and I am so happy when I pull it out to wear! I want to buy more but I have so many blushes it’s like do I really need more??? Then again, I’m currently decluttering my collection right now so maybe I’ll free up some more space for new babies! Hahaha The blush addiction is strong!
Awww! 🙂 LOL! I’m sure you could do with another one or two…. my advice would be to pick more differing shades so you can have good variety!
What lipstick are you wearing? I love it!
On lips: Too Faced Melted Frosting.
Too bad about the application, depth of color issues. The color is pretty in the pan and on you. Their price of this line is very good.
Thank you, Susan!
Oh, Christine, I just ordered this! I haven’t received it yet, but I hope it looks as good on me as it does for you. I’m still looking for a go to blush, and a HG blush!
I hope it is a HG for you! 😀
After reading a few of the reviews, I took the plunge & purchased some of these (Fruit Stand, Thumper, Cheerio, & Pegacorn). OMG, they are awesome! On a side note, I’ve been using the Shiseido Foundation Brush to apply these; it works like a dream (yay, no more collecting dust in my drawer)! I just barely touch the surface of the blush with the brush, then tap & swirl on my cheeks. I imagine a similar style brush would work just as well.
Thank you so much for posting swatches & reviewing these!
My pleasure, Daheep! I’m so glad that you’re loving the ones you got AND you finally found a use for a brush you no doubt spent a pretty penny on 😉
I am so glad I waited for your reviewing. ColourPop is so tempting and I am trying to limit my list to the best-performing shades. I was considering purchasing Birthday Suit but now I think I will get another shade instead.
Happy to help!
