Believe in Fairies

ColourPop Believe in Fairies Super Shock Shadow Trio ($15.00 for 0.21 oz.) includes three shimmery shades: pink-peach, chartreuse, and deep red. All three were pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing, which was consistent with the expectations I’ve come to have for the Super Shock Shadow formula!

Fly to Your Heart

Fly to Your Heart is a darker, pinky-peach base with flecks of lighter, sparkle and fine gold pearl throughout. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy to the touch, and blended out like a powder once it came into contact with my skin. It had rich color payoff that adhered evenly and lasted nicely for 10 hours with faint fallout after eight hours of wear.

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.

From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).

The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable.  They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.

The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply.  Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter.  They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Straight on 'Til Morning

Straight on ‘Til Morning is a bright, chartreuse green with warmer undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage in a single layer, when applied with a fingertip. It was able to be applied with a flat, synthetic brush and built up.

The texture was smooth, lightly emollient to the touch, but it was lightweight, thin, and applied a lot like a powder once it came into contact with my skin. It wore well for nine hours with slight fallout over time.

Never Grow Up

Never Grow Up is a deep red with subtle, warm undertones and a metallic finish with faint gold and pink micro-sparkle woven throughout. The texture was lightweight, thin, and lightly emollient to the touch, but the formula was quick to transform from cream to powder once it came into contact with my skin.

It had rich pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly to bare skin with a fingertip or a flat, synthetic brush (though slightly more buildable coverage was achieved with this tool). It wore well for 10 hours before fading slightly.

ColourPop out scoring all the dupes of high end brands. Glad I ordered the Tinkerbell set which included the palette, eye liners and Super Shock shadows. It looked like such a well coordinated collection I couldn’t resist.
