Lotus Flower

Cle de Peau Lotus Flower Lipstick ($65.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a muted, medium coral with warm undertones and a luminous finish. It had nearly opaque color payoff with a smooth, lightweight texture that was creamy enough to glide on the lips but was not so slippery that it was a high-maintenance shade to wear. I felt like the formula made my lips appear slightly plumper and smoother, even though there was a touch of color in my deeper lip lines. This shade had fine shimmer, which wasn’t something most shades contained. It wore well for four and a half hours and was moisturizing over time.

The formula is supposed to have “ultra-vibrant, luminous HD color and rich lasting moisture” that has a “silk, semi-matte finish lasting for 8 hours.” Under “Key Benefits,” they repeat that it has a “long-lasting finish for up to 8 hours” and “delivers lasting moisture for up to 4 hours” (I swear, that seems like it’s switched–it would really make more sense for it to last for four hours but keep lips hydrated for longer than the color itself lasted). The consistency was lightweight, creamy with a more emollient feel as it applied that had a lightly tacky feel afterward. Color coverage varied from medium and buildable to mostly opaque with light to moderate shine. Some shades applied more smoothly across the lips and made my lips appear smoother and plumper but not all shades did so. The wear was four to six ours with some of the deeper, richer shades (like reds) wearing longer. I found the formula very hydrating and comfortable to wear. I did not notice any taste but they had a subtle, rosy scent.

Camellia

Cle de Peau Camellia Lipstick ($65.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium-dark, coral-orange with warm undertones and a soft sheen. There was a bit of gold pearl, but it was very minor and almost undetectable in person. The consistency was lightly creamy with some slip, but it seemed to turn a touch tacky after thirty seconds from the initial application, which helped the color adhere better overall. The color payoff was semi-opaque but did not build up much beyond that. It wore well for four and a half hours and was hydrating while worn.

Passion Flower

Cle de Peau Passion Flower Lipstick ($65.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a bright, medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and golden pearl. It had good pigmentation, though it was shy of full coverage, that covered the lips with smooth, even color. The texture was lightweight, creamy, and a touch slippery initially, but it became marginally tacky as it “set” no the lips. This shade lasted for five hours and was incredibly moisturizing to wear.

As usual, very insightful. (That’s why we’re here!) Especially agree about moisture lasting longer than color. These should do better, with that price tag.

I still really like Camellia, but I’ll be going for one of the dupes and I need to look in my collection to see if I have something similar. I really like the color and the little bit of gold pearl.

kalliela Avatar

Lotus looks really great on you:)

This line is pretty..$65, not so pretty. Lol. I have a hard enough time justifying $20-$25 for a lippie, let alone $65. Pretty though and the formula seems rather luxurious to wear.

Oooh, I like how these make lips look full and lush! And since these are harder colors for me to pull off, I also like how understated but pretty colors are , but not the price tag! Will be checking out the dupes list

Gorgeous shades! But I won’t lie, unless I could get one through Sephora with the 20% Rouge sale, I’m not about to spend $65 on a lipstick. That said; I thankfully do have listed dupes for Lotus Flower and Passion Flower. Leaving Camellia. Looking for the smoothest looking, closest dupe for that one on the “Dupe List”, because that shade is perfection IMHO!

Betty Avatar

I know they are expensive and don’t last long or rate that well but darn if these don’t look perfectly luscious on the lips – color and finish (at least initially) is gorgeous.

WildDove Avatar

Beautiful! I do like the bit of shimmer, but that makes them hard to dupe at present. I would get one or two of these if they’d cut the price in half.
