The Silky Satin finish is supposed to be “the perfect alliance of luxurious colour, sensuous feel and superior wear.” More specifically, it is suppose to have “medium to full coverage in one stroke” while hydrating the lips and will not feather for four hours. Miss Loubi had semi-opaque to mostly opaque color coverage that was buildable and went on evenly. The consistency was creamier than Ronron and glided on with ease. This color lasted for five hours on me and left a slight stain behind, and the formula was comfortable to wear and moderately moisturizing. It had the same rose scent and soapy, rose taste as the other finishes.

Each lipstick is housed in a glossy black cardboard box with a red velvet shell lining, silk case (it was rougher and I thought it was just plastic mesh, but the brand says it is silk), and the lipsticks have a shimmering, gold ribbon that loops around. The ribbon has two crimped ends, and you’re supposed to simply tie them into a knot, but I wish it was some sort of clasp for better hold. It has moderate heft; not as heavy as Guerlain’s Rouge Gs but certainly not so light that it feels “cheap.” They don’t stand up, and they don’t have the shade name printed on them at all; there is a number printed on the interior tube, but the numbers aren’t readily available online. The packaging itself has a lot of details, and it’s a unique shape and style relative to what we see on the market, but I imagine you have to appreciate the packaging to justify the rest of it. I wish they stood up, because then you could really display them (like the polishes), or perhaps if the top was a removable cover, rather than a lid on a “hinge,” then you could remove the cover and display in the boxes.

Hello Christine 🙂
I really loved this color and looks gorgeous on you..

(has nothing to do with this post, but if the concealer color Custard from Nars is good for me, do you think that the most similar from Cle de Peau is Almond?) Sorry to ask in this post.

Kind regards 🙂

I am glad to see a good grade on this one, and I must say that I am extremely sad you were not as happy with the others….they looked phenomenal on you!!! You should post a picture of the pilling you had from Ronron because your swatches alone really make me want it!

Beautiful shade. I’m glad this one performs well. I still just don’t see myself purchasing one of these. The shade would have to be like something I don’t have and perform well. I’m passing and remaining content with the Nars dupes I own already. 🙂

It would be nice if a shade with a name like Miss Loubi was more unique, but it is very dupe-able for a lot less. I was worried I was going to cave if I saw a color I really loved, but that soapy rose perfume smell/taste is a total deal breaker for me. But I do like the luxe packaging, I think it sets a new standard.

This is a pretty shade on you too. I am going to get a color or two soon. I just haven’t decided which one. I am mainly buying it for the packaging. I will change the silk sash to either a velvet sash or a rope like sash where I will get at Britex. I want something sturdier. Actually I wish there was a pen rather than a lipstick inside. I may buy the lip liner too.

That lipstick scent taste sounds terrible. It seems like other people don’t seem to mind. And as for the other lipstick that peeled, if I got one like that, I would definitely return it.

This one is *swoon* worthy!!! It’s absolutely a stunning shade! It reminds me of MAC Make Me Gorgeous lipstick from this summer’s LE collection ( cannot recall the name, though! ), definitely my kind of shade! The two things that kill this brand for me are, 1.) That horrid SOAP taste and soapy rose scent would drive me bonkers ? and, 2.) $90 for MY sanity ( I’m a cheapskate! ), is better spent on 3 Nars Audacious or Estee Lauder lippys, or 4 UD Revolution lipsticks, or 4 MAC Ultimate Lipsticks. Heck, even 2 Guerlain lipsticks, and they’re much better quality too!

Elena Avatar

Nope. Still not feeling the price and the asparagus thing on the tube. I see nothing special for the price even though it looks lovely on you.

Trish Avatar

You look beautiful in this shade Christine! So happy it got a high grade. I might take the plunge after seeing this- I can see myself indulging in one, but I’m not keen that they added that scented baloney to it! Thanks for the great reviews on them all.

El Avatar

I’m really glad you reviewed these. Rose scent and soapy taste are two of the instant dealbreakers for me with a lip product, so even though this one scored better than the others, I’ve lost any desire I might have had to get any of these lipsticks.

You’ve reminded me that I want to try NARS Grace, though! 😀

The color of this one is stunning on you Christine!!! I’m going to have to get Colour Pop or M.A.C’s dupes because I need this shade of coral in my life. Can’t see spending this amount for Miss Loubi and getting a mouth full of grandma perfume to boot.

Kayle Avatar

price aside, it’s definitely not a color that would look good on me by any stretch of the imagination but can we just talk about how pretty the bullet is? it looks so smooth and i love how the top is cut. i probably stared at that picture for a solid 5 minutes haha

Sarah S. Avatar

I love the color! Some of the dupes are exactly the same (to my eyeballs, at least) so I think I’ll check out those. As always, thanks for the review!

Vanaily Avatar

Wowwwww! That lip swatch! I can’t believe how glossy and smooth it looks on. I’ve always been one to splurge on makeup but, I don’t know… $90USD a pop seems a little too crazy (being Canadian, we’re probably looking at $95-100+).

Do you really think it’s worth the 100 dollar price tag?

Christine Avatar

Not really – nothing about the formula itself was out of this world to me, so I think it is mostly packaging. If you love it and would enjoy it, then maybe it is worth it to you! The quality alone, though, I think can be replicated with other options.

Vanaily Avatar

Thank you for the feedback! I saw the collection in store at Holt Renfrew (in Canada), it was $118 CAD… so 133 with tax – crazy! The packaging is nice, but I think I draw the line at Tom Ford lol.

Also, I wasn’t crazy about the scent!
