Charlotte Tilbury Beach Sticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick
Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick ($45.00 for 0.23 oz.) is supposed to be a multi-tasking product that can be used on lips and cheeks, and the formula says it will hydrate the skin and uses ceramidone that acts like a “poly-filler to refill and plump the skin.” From the description, it sounds like these are a “natural flush,” so not fully opaque coverage but some color. As you might expect, the product performs better on the cheeks than on the lips, though I wasn’t overly impressed with it as a cream blush either. As a blush, it must be applied directly from the tube in order to achieve any visible color; using fingertips, most of the color adhered to the fingertip rather than transferring onto the skin, and with a brush, the formula seemed streaky and very, very sheer and difficult to build up intensity. This meant it wasn’t ideal for applying over a base, as the consistency isn’t so creamy that hardly any pressure is used, so it ended up moving my foundation if I used it over a blush (but I tested longevity on bare skin). Once on, it dries down to a semi-dewy finish; it’s not really shiny or wet-looking, but it’s not matte and never fully sets in place, so the wear time was six hours or less as a blush. As a lip product, they’re just drier in feel, though they weren’t as drying as I expected given how parched they make my lips look. It’s a lip product that really needs a topper, be it lip balm or gloss, to smooth out the lips–the Beach Stick on tended to emphasize the texture of the natural lip, giving it that drier, parched appearance. They yielded more color payoff as a lip product than the cheek (they seem to adhere better).
Charlotte Tilbury Es Vedra Beach Stick ($45.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a “mystic sunset coral.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark coral-red with gold shimmer. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color coverage. It lasted for six hours as a blush, four hours as a lip product (lightly drying but not as drying as it looked). See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Charlotte Tilbury Formentera Beach Stick ($45.00 for 0.23 oz.) is “sun-kissed berry.” It’s a subdued, medium-dark brown with hints of rose and a soft sheen. This was one of the less shimmery shades in the range, and it had a more emollient consistency, which helped it look better on the lips but minimized its wear time–five hours on the cheeks, three hours on the lips (lightly drying). See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Charlotte Tilbury Ibiza Beach Stick ($45.00 for 0.23 oz.) is “burnished bronze.” It’s a medium-dark, rich bronze with warm, golden yellow undertones and light gold shimmer. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque color payoff that lasted for six hours on cheeks, four hours on lips (lightly drying). See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Charlotte Tilbury Las Salinas Beach Stick ($45.00 for 0.23 oz.) is “candy, fresh, pretty pink.” It’s a brightened, light-medium pink with cool undertones and warmer gold shimmer. It had sheer to semi-sheer color payoff and was one of the more difficult ones to build-up and too many layers made it look incredibly splotchy, so I wouldn’t recommend this for medium or deeper skin tones looking to wear it as a cheek color. As a blush, it lasted for four and a half hours, and as a lip product, it lasted four hours but was moderately drying. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Charlotte Tilbury Moon Beach Beach Stick ($45.00 for 0.23 oz.) is a “rose gold, iridescent peach.” It’s a light-medium, gold-shimmered orange with a hint of red in its undertone. It had sheer to semi-sheer color payoff that is really more of a highlighter on my medium skin tone, so this is another shade better as a blush shade for fair skin tones but can still work as a highlighter on other skin tones. The color had turned patchy after four and a half hours of wear on cheeks and two and a half hours on lips but settled significantly and was drying. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Almost bought one of these last month. I’m glad I didn’t now.
They seem like a great idea, but so rarely do these combo products really work!
I was about to ask about that! In the two years I’ve been reading Temptalia, I have’t seen a multiple use product like this actually do well. I guess they figure it’s the type of product people see and go, “Oh, I’ll SAVE money because I can use it on my lips, cheeks and eyes!” (I know these aren’t marketed to be used on eyes, but some other multiple use products are.) In reality, they’re getting a mediocre product that they’ll probably never use as it’s intended, or even ever use, period.
That being said, I probably would have been lured into buying a NARS multiple if I hadn’t found your blog!
The one that I can remember distinctly is YSL’s Kiss & Blush – that one did pretty well for both, at least for a couple of shades!
I think it’s hard to get both right, since they have different needs. Something hydrating for lips is likely to slide right off the skin, lol!
they all LOOK really good but I’m sad to see the review and ratings.
I was disappointed, too!
Seems like the Charlotte Tilbury products are gorgeously packaged and presented, but just don’t seem to live up to the hype or the price!
So far, I like her blushes, some lipsticks, a few glosses, and some of the eyeshadow quads. I REALLY wanted to love her recent cream eyeshadows, but they’re just not quite there.
Exactly..
Meh 🙁 Some of the arm swatches look pretty, but it doesn’t translate well on the face or lips. I tend to be pretty suspicious of products that claim to double for cheeks and lips – they usually end up only working for one, if that!
Same, Izzy! It’s rare they work well for both 🙁
The packaging looks beautiful.
It is a pretty rose gold!
I’m surprised the formula isn’t better especially when there are so many good cream blushes on the market. You are right, they make your lips look really dry. Too bad.
I think it would have been better just to leave these as a cheek product, though they aren’t a great cream blush either.
It’s a shame these don’t work too well because they look beautiful
They seem so promising when swatched!
Hmm, I’m usually pretty impressed by Charlotte Tilbury’s products, but I think these will leave many of us wanting for more. I prefer products to be quite well pigmented so I can sheer them out rather than have to stack them on, but I’m fine with sheerer products IF the formula is nice, but if you say it isn’t, that’s rather disappointing. I like the colours, but considering the price vs the review, I’ll pass on these…
I would definitely test them out in person before taking the plunge, if you’re really pulled in by the colors!
Sorry if this has already been posted, but in case you dont know yet ebates is having 16% cash back at sephora 🙂
Thanks, Karla!
The colors scream “Summer’ and look so natural on your lips. They almost feel real.
They are very summery!
It’s great to have a mulți functional product when you’re în vacation. Moon beach is my fav color!
That is true!
I wonder if Charlotte Tilbury isn’t getting a bit too big for her britches, charging a pretty heft sum for products that are sub-standard. Christine, you reviewed something else recently from her, I think, that was also pricey and you rated it very poorly. The status and cachet a brand has is usually very hard-won but can be lost so easily with a run of less than stellar stuff (look how iffy most of us are about Dior shadow quints, for example!).
It seems like some of the products are gimmicky – I get the shtick (this idea of one and done, quick, fuss-free makeup), but it doesn’t seem to pan out well to me. Her blushes are probably the most consistent, though I like some of the lipsticks, glosses, and eyeshadows (but not all of the eyeshadows).
Christine, will you be reviewing Charlotte Tilbury’s Rock ‘n’ kohl eyeliner pencils?
I’d love to read your thoughts on those.
I don’t think I have any!
Not a fan of these combo lip/cheek products. In theory, they sound great (swipe and go! 2-for-1 product!) but in practice, a formula that works on the cheeks isn’t going to work well on the lips and vice versa, and this one seems mediocre on both. Not to mention it’s not very sanitary. And I can see they really dry out your lips, like it’s sucking all moisture out. Too bad, as the colors are really gorgeous. I hope she will reformulate and make them either cream blushes or lipsticks. If she did, I would definitely buy Es Vedra.
Yes, I’m not so sure about a lip product that gets used on my cheeks, since I am so careful not to get oil from my lips onto my face (like after eating), lol!
Las Salinas and Moon Beach look quite nice. It’s a shame that the performance of these isn’t great because they’d be great to carry around for touch-ups. Oh well, at least that’s money saved. :/
If only they were better!
I appreciate your reviewing these as I was wondering about them. Also appreciate your showing the ingredient list!
My pleasure, Di! 🙂
Wow, those just look so awful.
They are definitely a pass for me 🙁
I’m lighter than you (NC20-25), and still like the looks of Es Vedra and Formentera! I can see them being a quick hit of color for the beach (as stated) or on busy days when I’m running late (ok every day 🙂 They seem less unwieldy than Nars Multiples and less messy than my Josie Maran Infinity Lip/Cheek Creamy Oil, and I’m all about keeping it neat on the run… I’d *definitely* have the lip balm handy though! Thank you so much for all you do–you’ve saved me money and turned me on to some GREAT products! (Colour Pop!)
Always happy to help, Paula! 🙂
La Salinas & Es Vedra look pretty on the cheeks, but 45$ for a sheer cream blush is just absurd. The Chanel cream blushes actually deliver at a lower price!
Chanel’s cream blush formula is soooooooo much better.
Thank you for reviewing CT products! I want to buy her lipsticks but the color of the products the way they are pictured on her site differs from swatches I’ve seen online. That’s why love to see swatches of her lipsticks on your blog. I hope you do swatch them! 😀
I don’t think I have any other lipsticks from her, unfortunately!
Oh bummer! I don’t know if you know this, but she posts “looks” on her website and costumers can buy the products used. I loved one of the looks but the lipstick she used apparently does not swatch like that in real life.
Anyways, thanks for the reply!!
The first one is beautiful but the formula sounds terrible. I guess these are literally for the beach lol
LOL! That was my thought, “Well, I guess if all you need is your makeup to last about two hours, there you go!”
I actually kind of like the stained look. But I wouldn’t buy these (just because they aren’t exactly my colors)
I think they can be very pretty on, but they’re just so short lasting and not that easy to apply!
Pretty colors but not for $45.00.
The shade range showed promise!
I am a HUGE fan of Charlotte Tilbury and her work, so naturally, when her makeup launched in the U.S., I bought as much of her makeup line as I could. I can say I have almost every item, but I have been disappointed by the products. I’m glad I skipped out on these because they lack pigmentation and don’t last very long. For that price, I much rather purchase the new Smashbox sticks. Thanks for reviewing these! 🙂
That is such a bummer, Maria! 🙁 What products from her line have you enjoyed?
The Vintage Vamp eyeshadow palette is one of my top favorites from the line. I like some of her lipsticks and lip pencils, the mascara, the highlight and contour palette, the blushes I like too, the brushes are great, so are the eyeshadow sticks; That’s what I like so far. The glittery shadow in each eyeshadow palette dries out and develops a film that’s hard to scratch off, what a bummer! The lip glosses are a miss for me, as well. I really wanted to like “Forever Marilyn” lipstick, but I don’t! Magic cream does not nothing but flake my foundation, despite letting it thoroughly dry, and the pressed powder shades are way off for my skin tone. Sorry, Christine, I know you asked me what I have enjoyed, but I had to share what I’ve disliked too! There’s no denying, however, that the packaging is beautiful. I guess I expected more from the person who helped create Tom Ford beauty
Thank you, Maria! I appreciate hearing both sides 😀
I had a moment of brief excitement when I saw the word “beach” hoping that my prayers for water-appropriate makeup had been answered, and then a slow tumble into disappointment when I saw the price, grades, and the fact that it doesn’t seem to actually be made for the beach anyway. So I guess I’m saved from spending the money, but dangit I want my beach makeup!
Moon beach sure has a pretty look besides the patchiness. Glad it has a healthy number of dupes.
I do not own a lot of product from this line. The swatches look terrible and the product on your lips horrible and painful looking actually. You do not have dry lips. I do. These would be disaster for me. I’m very cool with products like these not working so well on lips, I’m a fan of NARS multiples afterall, but the cheeks are not doing it for me either. Complete pass. I have CT Filmstar bronze and glow, great product, but the one and only in my stash.
I’m not too surprised as much as I hate to say it. I would love to see one of these multi-sticks really hit a home run. But, it just seems like it doesn’t work. I do have to say overall, I have found myself rather disappointed with Charlotte Tilbury’s line. When it first launched, I bought a ton of stuff. The only things I like are the filmstar and the eye shadow quads and I really feel everything is way overpriced in her line. I bought all of them and If I could have seen them in store or was a readr of your blog at that time, I would have likely only purchased a few. I won;t purchase any of her stuff without a review or trial first.
I don’t mind products like these that work only for one purpose, or don’t last long (these are sooo easy/quick to touch-up!), but I don’t particularly like these shades, and the distribution is so limited. I’ll just stick with NARS Multiples, which are also a bit less expensive.
No – I don’t really like the idea of a blush and lipstick in one – either the blush is too bright or the lipstick is too sheer. Besides – the ratings are not good enough to justify the expense. Colour Pop has much better blush alternatives.
You look so soft yet pretty and bright in these! I’m sorry to hear they didn’t go too well! I’m thinking it might be batch/time related? Mine were quite slick with a great dry-down and blending time! I purchased them prior to their release, though. I’d not want to believe in inconsistency, but it happens! Some brands want to add things so quickly that quality plummets. I had babies as samples, could also be that, but either way they weren’t my go-to. I don’t even know where they are! Haha! 😀 The review does help in the color category for other brands that have similar products so people can gauge how they might look in those! 🙂
Wow! I swear to you before I went on temptalia.com. I was was wondering “when will the CT beach sticks be available?” And “I hope Christine reviews them” it’s makeup destiny!!!!!! So sad these don’t warrant the 45 dollar price tag! Thanks!
LOL! Makeup destiny 😀
While I do get the concept of such a product, these are pretty bad performance wise and look SCARY DRY on your lips, like painful looking! And then there’s the issue of them not being long lasting on the cheeks either. I think this is a product that can’t make up its mind what it wants to be!
I wish brands would just stop with the combo products if they aren’t willing to go the distance with them. The kind of emollient effect you need for a comfortable lip product is bound to undermine the product’s endurance on the cheeks unless you’ve created a really remarkable formula. Thus far, the only brands I’ve read have accomplished that are Stila and YSL, though the new Burberry ones looks promising…
I think I’ll stick (no pun intended) with my Smashbox LA Light Color Sticks.
Haha!
Noooo say it ain’t so! I had such high hopes for these. I’ve tried a few of her lippies and like them. Her matte revolution formula is different- not drying/feathering like most but definitely not wearing for 7+ hours. I’m mostly sucked in by the colors (Amazing Grace, Sexy Sienna, Lost Cherry). But a note on the packaging- I’m so unimpressed with it. They warp fairly easy and don’t click shut. For 30 gazillion $$ a tube, I expect more.
Darn, I wanted these to be good as I liked the idea of dual purpose. Even though Multiples are often bad on the lips I feel they still look better than these.
I wonder if the formula is exactly the same as it was last summer when I bought Es Vedra. I think it’s quite easy to work with, and though it is a bit drying on the lips, the colour is really summery and pretty.
I’m not sure how long it lasts, I eat my lipsticks in no time, and I can’t remember how long it lasted as a blush.
I’m quite satisfied wiht it, given that it is a multitasker, and I think, as it seems you all do, that multitaskers are never as good as the ordinary lipstick/blush.
