Chanel Tisse Cambon (228) Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad ($61.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a mix of shades that range from light pink to dark purple. This is one of the more “colorful” variations in the eight new and permanent quads that Chanel has released. Overall, it was pretty good with decent to good color payoff, softer textures, and longer-wear. The entire quad, though visually they don’t seem particularly small, contains less product than most palettes/quads (including the regular U.S. version of quads). Baked formulations often weigh less than more traditional powder formulas do, but it’s hard to say if it contains as many uses as the regular quads.

Tisse Cambon #1 is described as an “iridescent mauve.” It’s a soft, warm-toned mauve with a sparkling finish. It had semi-opaque color coverage that was slightly buildable, but I couldn’t get to be fully opaque. It’s one of those shades, however, that has enough sparkle that distracts from the lack of opacity, so I think many would easily forgive this shade (as a result, it also works well as a wash of color on the lid). The texture was soft, finely-milled, and easy to blend/apply. It wore well for eight and a half hours and had very minor fall out. NARS Dolomites (Left) (LE, $24.00) is darker, less sparkly. Kat Von D Transition (P) is cooler-toned. theBalm #32 (P, $6.50) is less shimmery. Makeup Geek Twilight (P, $5.99) is warmer, darker. MAC Shale (P, $15.00) is darker, less shimmery. Giorgio Armani Terra Sienna #2 (P) is browner, darker. Giorgio Armani #7 (P, $33.00) is more metallic. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Tisse Cambon #2 is described as a “pale pink.” It’s a very light–almost white–pink with a golden shimmer-sheen. The pink seems to lean cool, but the addition of gold shimmer makes it appear warmer overall. It had good color payoff that applied smoothly and evenly due to the soft, silky texture. This shade stayed on well for nine hours before creasing slightly. Laura Mercier Diamond Pink (LE, $23.00) is more metallic. Tarina Tarantino Delightful #3 (P) is cooler-toned. Tarina Tarantino Violet Storm #2 (LE) is cooler-toned. Tarina Tarantino Diamond Dusk #2 (LE) is cooler-toned. Too Faced Champagne Truffle (P, $16.00) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty Seductive Rose #1 (P) is darker. Kat Von D Instaglam (LE) is similar. MAC Dare to Bare (LE, $21.00) is similar. Disney by Sephora Treasures Untold (LE) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty Enchanted #1 (LE) is cooler-toned. MAC Radial Pink (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Tisse Cambon #3 is described as a “bright pink.” It’s a lightly brightened, light-medium pink with yellow undertones and a golden shimmer-sheen finish. It had fantastic pigmentation that went on very smoothly. I didn’t have any creasing until after nine hours of wear. Too Faced Paper Roses (P, $16.00) is similar. Chanel Rose des Vents (94) (LE, $36.00) is more metallic. Sephora Collection Star-Crossed Lovers (103) (P, $13.00) is less warm-toned. MAC Rose (P, $15.00) is less shimmery. MAC Da Bling (P, $15.00) is less warm-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Tisse Cambon #4 is described as a “deep violet.” It’s a muted, medium-dark eggplant purple with subtle cool undertones and a satiny sheen. It had fairly good color payoff, but the texture was a little drier, so it didn’t apply as easily as the other shades did. On me, the color started to fade after eight and a half hours of wear. bareMinerals In Vogue (LE) is darker. Tom Ford Beauty Lavender Lust #4 (P) is similar. Disney by Sephora Wonder by Wonder (LE) is darker. Urban Decay Tornado (LE, $18.00) is more shimmery, brighter. Le Metier de Beaute Matte Plum (LE, $30.00) is darker. MAC Altered State (LE, $15.00) MAC Highly Charged (LE, $18.50) ius a cream product. Guerlain Attrape-Coeur #3 (LE) is brighter. Make Up For Ever #142 (DC, $20.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This will be an easy one for me to “pass” – I’ve got colours similar to the 2 I really like (the dark purple and the top left shade) and as I never wear pink shadow (and have maybe 3 anyway that came in pre-made UD palettes), this is one I’d not use. Christine – the dark purple UNDER your lower lashes – is that a pencil or is it the purple from this quad?

Aditi Avatar

Hi Christine, In the caption under the eye look, it says marc jacobs introvert, but i think its something else…unless i’m mistaken 🙂 I really like that pop of purple on lower lash:) I wonder if its the shadow from the pallette?

Very different finish but the 3 lavender/purple shades are similar to the ones in Dior Night Butterfly (from antiquity — 2009). That pink is a color that Dior also throws into a lot o palettes that I own – and it stands alone, terribly ignored due to my pink skin!

It will be interesting to see what combinations Chanel puts out as this product sells.

It is an awesome quint, though I think it’s much cooler toned overall than the Chanel quad (the purple shade is just divine, I admit!) and I have to say I’d stick with Night Butterfly over this… Tisse Gabrielle was my favourite to look at but it just went muddy when applied on me (by the Chanel rep, so YMMV), sadly. Rivoli it is for me!

OMG, this pink makes my heart jump. And it is solely responsible for me buying this quad)) But eventually I sold it after 3 month of ownership and 2 make-ups… somehow we just don’t love each other(( the taupy-mauvy-something color is too shimmery for my liking and the puple is too dry

OK… I’d forgive this palette for that golden sheened bright pink! Mind you, this is because I fell in love with that shade in the Too Faced Country palette, which if I could get my hands on it here might be slightly better value than the Chanel quad, LOL 😀 Still, I think the quad overall is pretty! Definitely another one to flag for my sister!

I’d say this is my favourite so far. Not sure I’d buy it as I think I have similar colours, but if I didn’t this is a winner for me.
If I won the lottery, or got an inheritance from an unknown relative I’d certainly get it, though 🙂
When next I’m close th a Chanel counter I have to check how much they are, as I think you could add some 25-30% to the US price, making it quite expensive, must check to get facts, though, always a good thing to do.

I purchased Cambon but I’m keeping it for Fall. These are my colors, and I got one for my son’s girlfriend too. She’s a doll and I love her to pieces. I get so much pleasure buying clothes and makeup etc. for her. I never had a daughter and I love to take her out shopping. We have a wonderful time together.

MythKitty Avatar

Christine, did you use a primer under these? So far, I have loved the colors in many of the palettes in the pan but that color hasn’t translated onto the eye. This palette, in particular, caught my eye, but it looks a bit too subtle for my liking. Since I wear glasses now, I’ve started using darker eyeshadows so my eyes don’t get lost behind the frames. =)

Love your reviews! (I’ve been reading them and sharing them for over a year.)

Hi Cat!

I didn’t wear any primer with these – in general, I don’t wear primer unless the formula is either really, really horrible (so then I might test with primer, but I usually don’t) or the formula doesn’t say it’s long-wearing. If you used a white base, you could definitely make the pink/purple stand out more, though!

Thank you! 🙂
