Is Stunning… Stunning?

Chanel Stunning Rouge Coco Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a pearly peach-beige with subtle champagne shimmer and a rather glossy sheen.   It applied smoothly and pretty evenly, and it felt more moisturizing than other Rouge Cocos I’ve tried in the past.  It’s comfortable to wear, and this lighter shade lasted beautifully  under a glossimer (over seven hours). It’s a very lovely barely-there shade, and I think it will flatter all skin tones.  Though it’s soft in color and a little sheer, it is versatile; it can be worn on its own for an everyday look or layered underneath a more pigmented gloss to add some oomph.

I think the name sort of gave me high hopes, but the color itself was a bit of a let down. I think with a name like “Stunning,” a bolder, really show-stopping kind of shade was in order.   Instead, it’s much more of a my-lips-but-better hue. I’m not sold on it, even though it looks nice on, just because it’s not my cup of tea.  I can see why this sold out, though!

I would say it’s similar to Chanel Chintz (pinker), Chanel Mythic (a bit lighter), Guerlain Gabrielle (pinker), Urban Decay Peroxide (frostier, pinker), and Smashbox Charming (peachier).

RECOMMENDATION: Well, if you’re able to track it down and you like subtle shades that are similar to your lip color, you may enjoy Stunning. If you’re more into opaque lip colors, I would skip.

It’s pretty, but it’s one of those situations where it’s so either unpigmented, or already lip-color, and I can’t pay that much for something like that. If I’m buying a Chanel lipcolor, it has to be pigmented!

Thank you for the review and swatches! Hmm I’m thinking perhaps NARS Cruising is similar as well? Though I do love the Rouge Coco formula, Cruising looks similar on my lips from what I can tell in your pictures…

I was going to get a back up of this because I like nude/neutral shades but when I looked last night, it was gone 🙁 I like this topped off w/a clear gloss!

It’s back in stock! Just placed my order. When the collection came out I did buy Stunt without even seeing a swatch, just knew I had to have it because it was a rouge allure lacquer & heard it was described as mauve. Didn’t think much of Stunning until I saw your review, that I regretted not getting it & was sooo disappointed to see it out of stock! Since then I had been checking every couple of days to see if it was back & my prayers have been answered! My first rouge coco lipstick 😀 PS Found your site over a year ago & check it daily, thank you for all the time & effort you put into this site, you do an excellent job & are a beautiful artist, xoxo

will this colour and rose confidential 491 (nail varnish) be release internationally/ in the UK? I am so wanting this colour, it would be great for everyday wear =D

wow, I wanted this so bad but see how it really isn’t much more than a MLBB shade on you so I know it would be the same on me. Thanks for your lip swatches! They are always soo soooo helpful!

Love this colour. But I can understand why you’re not sold on it. However, I can also see why its sold out too! This is a very popular kinda colour. This could work on practically any skin colour.
Maybe not Stunning, but lovely for sure!

Ooo I love a lipstick touted as ” your lips but better ” !! Cafe makeup gave ” Stunning ” a stunning review. The swatches are beautiful, and I love that you reported that it is more hydrating than some of the other Rouge Coco colors. When I read the Cafe Makeup review today, I quick logged onto the Chanel website and was so sad that they have taken down the Soho collection completely. Being a lipstick addict, I googled the Chanel Soho store and called. Tim, the S/A said he was completely out, I asked him to recheck and was overjoyed when he let me know he found one !! It will arrive on my doorstop on Thursday, along with “Stunt ” that I ordered last week from the website ! A good week ! By the way, i know you favor stronger colors but the pics of you wearing ” stunning ” are gorg !!!
