The Spring Season: Smashbox Charming Lipstick

Smashbox Charming Photo Finish Lipstick ($22.00) is semi-sheer, shimmery beige with a slight peach undertone. I’m not exactly sure why Sephora describes this as a “nude pink,” because I didn’t see any pink in it. It was definitely nude and dare I say it, a little peach? Smashbox’s lipsticks also have a sweet vanilla scent, very similar to MAC lipsticks, though I’d say this is just a bit stronger (but not overwhelming!). It does run a little more on the sheer side, so those with more pigmented or naturally tinted lips may find it doesn’t do much for them once applied. I was able to build up decent coverage, but I wouldn’t say it’s opaque. It’s a subtle shade, which makes it very wearable. With Smashbox’s lipsticks, I get about four hours of wear — probably a little on the lower end of the wear spectrum for me.

Is this the right nude for you? Would you wear it?

The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Hmm very pretty indeed, I don’t see any pink tones in the tube but it definitely looks pinkish on your lips. Probably your own lip colour showing through?

Ooooh, this looks so gorgeous on you. It’s a real pity it might not work so well on super-pigmented lips like mine (thanks for the warning!), but at $22, I’m not taking a chance like that.

I haven’t liked a shade this much since Urban Decay’s Indecent (similar to this, actually) blew me away–but that tasted like toxic waste on my lips and I returned it. So disappointing.

This post just reminded me that I own this lipstick. It is a beautiful color, but I also considered it to be on the pinky side. After seeing your swatches Christine, it does seem run a bit peachy. Nonetheless, it’s still a nice color:)

It’s a very pretty color, but unfortunately I rarely like how super frosty lipsticks look on my lips so I won’t be buying… Awesome color but too much shimmer for me!

I love Smashbox lip glosses – they are not sticky at all which is my biggest complaint about most lip glosses and they last a long time! I have yet to try the lipsticks by Smashbox however. Can’t wait, that color looks amazing!

I have this lipstick, and I like how moisturizing and smooth it feels on my lips most of all. There isn’t much color payoff with this one, though… it’s very transparent at least on me. I have to build it to get a decent coverage. I do like it though and I have probably used it more than most of my other lipsticks. It is a beigy-neutral on me with lots of shimmer, I don’t really see any pink when I wear it. I am very fair, cool toned. I can wear it with a smoky eye and that is what I go to most often. It’s a nice one to try!

This is gorgeous on you!!! I keep coming back to this post so that I can look at the color again and again…I think it would be much too light for me (NW43). First you had me with the Scarlett Season and now this…my pocketbook will not be safe!
