Chanel Sari d'Eau Rouge Coco Shine Review, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Sari d’Eau Rouge Coco Shine

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Sari d’Eau

Chanel Sari d’Eau (44) Rouge Coco Shine ($32.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a semi-opaque orange with tangerine-gold shimmer and a glossy shine.  It reads like a darker version of Sari Dore Rouge Coco.

It’s actually more opaque than the Rouge Coco formula seems to be touted as, so while I will remove a point off of pigmentation for being too pigmented (I defer to what the brand claims the product should be), I wanted to make it a point to say as whether it’s too pigmented for your liking (or maybe, just pigmented enough), may be a bigger deciding factor.  It’s not opaque like Rouge Allures, but everything I’ve heard from Chanel artists and read from Chanel pegs these as sheer to semi-sheer.  I used about a layer and a half of product (just one pass around the outer edge of both lips, then a little dabbed on the center to ensure I had product everywhere).

It’s a lightweight, nearly scent-free (I couldn’t distinguish what it was, but it was very faint), and has an emollient base. It applies evenly and smoothly, because it has that balm-like quality. Unfortunately, it only lasts two to three hours on me, but I would say it is on the moisturizing side, though not as moisturizing as my favorite lip balms.  I do wish these were the same size as other lipsticks in Chanel’s line (like 0.12 oz.), because of the emollient base, it’s easy to over-apply the product–and the need for reapplication being every couple of hours means you’ll go through a tube much faster than other lipsticks in Chanel’s range.

I love this color. It’s the first lip shine I bought. It gives good color and it lasts surprisingly long on me. It has a lot of slip to it, which I’m not used to but it’s ok. I then went and bought Boy. I’m shocked that I prefer it over this one. I am NC45 with pigmented lips, but Boy shows up wonderfully.

I was just wondering yesterday, what you’d do if something was more pigmented than they claimed it was supposed to be! I think it’s a good thing, though, that you took off the points. It keeps your rating system consistent, and therefore more informative 🙂

Thanks so much for this review! I immediately thought of Sari Dore when I first came upon Sari D’eau–though it’s strange that the D’eau (and you’re the first one to mention this) is darker than the Dore? Since the formula of the RCS is advertised as being sheerer than the RC, I would expect that a sheerer formula would imply a lighter color as well. Maybe it’s good for Chanel to introduce a lip product that packs a punch of color without weighing down on the lips–perfect for summer! Or maybe I just can’t resist anything in the ‘Sari’ color family.

I purchased 7 of the Coco Shines and this one is my Favorite!! plus I got the Rouge Coco Regular one also in the new Summer line. I am happy to have both. I see that Chanel has a new one that is Online only and is an exclusive color. I love Chanel.

Christine, that whole look is just a beautiful look for you! I’m too cool toned for this shade, but it looks like it was made for you!

I have olive skin and can totally see myself wearing this shade! Such a beautiful, warm orange, perfect for my skin tone! 🙂

You look better in redder shades though. LOVE Chanel’s Dragon on you, that’s the most flattering color I’ve seen on you! 🙂

Christine, I remembered what you said about not being able to distinguish what the scent was when I bought mine. I think I’ve placed it. Roses! If you sniff it the sniff one of the powders/blushes…same scent, imho. Just thought I’d pass that along and see what your thoughts on it were. Thanks! Shannon

I love that I have beige undertones instead of pink or yellow, so it’s easy for me to wear both cool and warm toned products. gorgeous color!

It reminds me of my beloved NARS lip lacquer in Capucine, even the gold shimmer. Good to know there is a dupe so I won’t be desperate when I run out of it (it’s been discontinued…)!

How do you think these Chanel ones compare to the new Dior lipsticks that are also sheer? Any change of comparison coming…? would be so helpful to know which are more moisturizing, color differences etc.

p.s Love this color!! 🙂

This shade looks gorgeous!! I have 6 other Rouge Coco Shines and unfortunately I’m kind of disappointed in them. They don’t wear off evenly on me and have way more slip than I like. I just got a similar shade to this in the new Dior Addict lipstick Fire from their Summer collection. It’s the only Dior Addict I’ve tried so far but I’m much more fond of it than my Shines 🙁
