Chanel Rose Ruban (602) Joues Contraste Blush Review & Swatches

Rose Ruban (602)
Chanel Rose Ruban (602) Joues Contraste Blush ($45.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. The texture was firmer, slightly stiff in the pan, which was unexpected, and so the product was harder to pick up on my brush and didn’t apply as evenly over bare skin as this formula typically does.
I found it necessary to apply it over set-foundation, as it tended to adhere more strongly to areas where I applied it first but not want to readily spread out for an even layer of product. It had semi-opaque color coverage that was buildable to full coverage with a second layer. Once on, it stayed on well for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

The Joues Contraste formula is supposed to have “buildable coverage, from natural to dramatic” with a “flattering radiance” and “silky texture.” The pigmentation ranges from semi-sheer to fully opaque, depending on technique and skin tone, but it seemed exactly as described–buildable–without having to pile it on or spend too long sheering it out. The formula has an extremely smooth, silky consistency that blends out beautifully on the skin. Most shades wear around eight hours on me.
The formula is rose-scented but the scent was largely undetectable applied (but noticeable in the compact).

Joues Contraste have always been more on the firm side to me. I can’t say I actually loved the formula, but in a sense I guess I have. It does lend itself to layering .. Some shades have been dicier for sure, but I find the product inspiring in terms of shade selection.
How awful Christine – this is so not like Chanel – another big brand producing something substandard……
Such a beautiful color.
Not good for a pricey blush. I wonder if they reformulated?
The first Chanel blush I bought (2016) was phenomenal. I’ve noticed with each one I’ve purchased since then that the formula is not as nice. I bought three last fall and I need to scrape the pan with tissue each time I wear it to get any color! I’ve collected my fair amount of these and once done, I’m sure I’ll find a new brand as replacement.
