Chanel Rose Reve (189) & Songe (191) Glossimers Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Rose Reve (189) Glossimer
Chanel Rose Reve (189) Glossimer ($29.50 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as a “milky pink.” It’s a light, milky pink with warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage, and it had a high-shine, glossy finish. The thicker consistency of the gloss made it less prone to settling into lip lines, though it did just slightly, but for this type of gloss, it performed better than expected. It had a mostly non-sticky texture until after three hours of wear, after which it developed a slight tackiness. It stayed on well for four hours and was lightly hydrating. NARS Turkish Delight (P, $26.00) is lighter. Chanel Rosace (87) (LE, $27.00) is shimmery. Maybelline Petal Plush (100) (P, $8.99) is lighter, shimmery. NYX Maple Blondie (P, $5.00) is darker. Chanel Allegorie (LE, $29.50) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Chanel Songe (191) Glossimer ($29.50 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as an “iridescent pearl.” It’s a shimmer-ladened clear gloss with fine shimmer that shifts from fuchsia pink to murky purple. It had semi-sheer pigmentation, which was primarily in the form of shimmer, but it is lightly tinted pink from what I can tell. It looks more complex in person than it does in photos, but it didn’t look as complex on as it did in the tube (the duochrome doesn’t come through nearly as strongly). This shade lasted for four and a half hours and was nicely hydrating. Chanel Eau de Rose (86) (LE, $27.00) doesn’t have a true duochrome but looks similar applied with its icy shimmer. Bobbi Brown Firefly (P, $24.00) is less murky but looks similar applied. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It would have been gorgeous if that duochrome effect really did transfer once applied. Glossimers are usually too sheer for my liking!
I agree! It’s a bit more than what’s shown in the photo, but it’s not too impressive, even in real life 🙁
Songe reminds me of MAC Vex eyeshadow in gloss form! Pretty! <3
That’s what I thought of, too!
I dropped my Vex shadow and it’s…powder. i don’t use it all that often anyway…i wonder if i can make my own “dupe” with clear gloss…hmmm……….
Brittany, I’m not too sure, the base color in Vex might be a bit too opaque. Still, you can probably try it in a small batch then re-press the eyeshadow with alcohol if you wish.
Too expensive for me! I can just use lip balm or a cheaper gloss for a similar effect. 😡
Or NYX Butter Gloss, which I know you like!
I love those barely there glosses, they are so versatile. Songe is lovely!
Will you be getting either, Judith?
I like Songe but I don’t think it’s worth the price since it’s pretty sheer. Your eye makeup looks great though.
Thanks, Agata!
Both look very soft and pretty on you. I especially like Reve.
Thanks! 🙂
I like Songe, but feel BB Firefly is it’s tricked out and flashier sister which I completely love so pass.
Firefly is definitely <3
Really? Please go on!
It looks like nothing. I will pass on this.
Yeah, it definitely depends on the type of look and opacity you prefer!
I love the shimmer in Songe! So pretty!
The shimmer is lovely!
Ooo, the Chanel Songe (191) Glossimer is quite pretty!
Monica.
I wish it had a stronger duochrome!
I think Songe is really pretty! I have yet to try Chanel makeup, but it’s at the top of my list!
Let me know if you give it a shot!
I’m impressed by the non-lipline-settling of Rose Reve, and Songe is actually quite pretty in a very understated way. I get the feeling Chanel’s glosses are aimed fairly strongly at a more conservative market – they seem to be so sheer, so often (this is speaking as someone who isn’t necessarily opposed to sheer gloss, but preferes pigmented glosses that you can *optionally* sheer out).
I swear they used to have a better variety (which is what they describe the range as – sheer and more opaque) years ago with more opaque shades, but for the past few years, primarily sheer, soft shades of pink and shimmer.
Utterly unimpressed.
Chanel seems to do a lot of sheer, pink glosses these days.
After seeing promo pics, I have had high hopes of Songe. I’m a bit disappointed that the duochrome effect disappears when it’s applied. 🙁 But it’s still nice, after all.
There’s a little bit there, but it’s not a lot 🙁
I’d rather spend my money on Bobbi Brown’s Firefly
Firefly is more dazzling!
I will be getting Rose Reve for shore. !!
Yay!!
OMG I have never needed a Chanel Glossimer as much as I need that Songe! *flailing arms* the iridescence is glorious! I almost don’t care it’s not an A+ (which I would normally insist on for that price tag) but it’s SO PRETTTTYYY! I have no Chanel cosmetics, but I think that would be a great place to start!
If you end up splurging, let me know how you like it!
Songe is very similar to Divine Diva by Black Radiance!
That’s great to know! Thanks, Toni!
I HAVE to have Songe! The other one looks like semen. Yuck. You look outstanding, though, Christine! 🙂
I think you’ll like the duochrome-ish nature of Songe!
You found me out!! 😉 🙂 Thank you! The review solidifies that! 🙂
Songe looks so intriguing in the tube but frankly speaking it wont do any good to my pigmented lips .. 🙁
Mostly shimmer 🙁
To me Songe looks like a dupe for Clearwater (MAC Aquatic collection). Clearwater looks like a shimmery pink on me, but still pretty though.
I can see some similarity!
I like Songe but I don’t think I like it enough to buy it.
I think you have to love a Glossimer to splurge on it!
Ooh, I love that colour shift in Songe! Really wish it was more apparent on the lips, though — you’re definitely not alone in that.
Me too – it sucks when something is prettier in the bottle/tube than on!
I love colors like rose reve for how they look in the tube. Any Idea how this shade compares to chanel plasir? i love that shade and it surely looks clear after the 1st hour of wear. initially, it appears to add a soft tint and it’s great over lipstick. I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy this one!
I don’t think I have that shade, unfortunately!
Hmm looking for Bobbi Brown Firefly and can’t find it sold anywhere. Has it been discontinued?
It was LE 🙁
I just splurged on Songe yesterday! It’s my first Chanel Glossimer but I was so wowed when I swatched it, I had to have it. I happened to be wearing Bite’s Retsina and in my excitement, just threw this over top and thought the result was gorgeous. It makes your lips look full and plump and I think it’s going to make a great topper for a lot of lipsticks. 🙂
Nice! Will have to play with it a bit more!
