Chanel Rose Favorite Soft Touch Eyeshadow ($28.50 for 0.07 oz.) is described as an “audacious pink.” It’s a brightened, medium rosy pink with mostly neutral undertones; it looks subtly cool-toned in the pan but against my skin tone, it looks neutral to slightly warm. It has a mostly matte finish. Dior Bow is a smidgen darker and cooler-toned–Rose Favorite appears softer, less fuchsia. Guerlain Terra Azzurra #2 is cooler-toned. MAC More Amour is redder.

If you’ve always wanted a “bright pink” eyeshadow, Rose Favorite is a subtle introduction that may pain your wallet but will allow you to explore the possibilities without having full, in-your-face, kind of brightness.  It’s nicely pigmented, but there’s a soft, muted quality to the color that keeps it from being a truly bright pink (like you might expect from brands famous-for-their-brights, like Make Up For Ever and Urban Decay).  The texture is incredibly soft, almost buttery, and very, very finely-milled; there is a little excess powder that kicks up when used, but it seemed to settle quite nicely once applied to the eye.  That softness, however, lends itself to being easy blended on the eye, and it can be sheered out more readily if you don’t want opaque color.  Rose Favorite wore for eight hours well on me, and there was some very faint fading after nine hours.

Are these limited edition Chanel items you’ve been reviewing part of a collection or just one offs? Do you know if they are only going to be available through Chanel online or should they show up in department stores? I love this pink!

Very pretty – I have a color similar to this in a L’Oreal HIP Brights Duo that I like to blend in over my crease when I’m wearing neutral browns. It warms up the eye, but doesn’t scream bright pink – it also doesn’t give my eye that bruised or pink eye look.

I think that this could be a fun liner color. A deep smokey eye and then bam a pink liner. Of course it would have to be on one of the nights that I get sleep so that I didn’t appear to have even redder than normal eyes!

I think it’s a pretty colour. But personally I feel better investing in neutrals that I can wear every day, and getting less expensive “play colours” for places like Costal Scents.

I purchased the pink shadow (Rose Favorite) because I wear pink shadows often, as it’s my favourite colour. I applied Rose Favorite from lashes to above the crease, then a light pink Ombre Unique called Frou Frou (1980-ish)as under-brow highlight. Notorious in the crease blended into an awesome pinky-purple, so the purple Ligne Graphique was a good match for winged eyeliner. Violet Smoke Crayon Yeux under the eye, with Beryl Stylo Yeux on the waterline, then whacking great loads of the new mascara. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I loved it, and enjoyed many compliments. <3
