Chanel Poesie (234) Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Poesie (234) Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow
Chanel Poesie (234) Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow ($61.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a limited edition palette that features a mix of bronze, beige, pink, and taupe. It sold out at most retailers quickly, but Macy’s continues to have it in stock. The colors work well to create a warm, smoky eye with hints if pink and plum in it. The palette performed well overall, and the formula was consistent with the other quads in the range.
Poesie #1 is a medium bronzy brown with warm undertones and a slightly metallic finish. It had nice color payoff that went on very smoothly and evenly. The texture was soft and finely-milled, which made blending effortless. On me, it wore well for nine hours before fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Poesie #2 is a light, yellowed beige with a soft, frosted finish. It has incredibly fine shimmer, but there’s enough of a sheen that it’s not a satin or pearl finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, blendable texture that was easy to use. It lasted for eight and a half hours on me. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Poesie #3 is a pale, pink-lavender with subtle, cool undertones and a metallic sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff that went on smoothly and evenly. The powder had a soft, finely-milled feel to it that seemed just a little drier compared to the other shades in the quad. I didn’t see any fading until after eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Poesie #4 is a rich, deep taupewith subtle, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The sheen is so prominent that it almost looks wet when applied. It had good pigmentation, and the powder felt soft, finely-milled, and silky on the skin. The color stayed on well for nine hours before fading. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This quad is beautiful!
It is!
Oh no, these are my colors!
Your poor wallet is running away already!
I picked this up recently too and really like it – easy to use and has a beautiful finish. I can’t wait to try more of the new quads.
How awesome, Jill! What combo have you worn most with it?
Hi Christine! I have Tisse Rivoli, and I absolutely looove it. Do you think these are different enough to justify picking up both? 🙂
I think you could skip, though I wouldn’t say they’re dupes, you know? Tisse Rivoli is darker overall, and it reads cooler to me at a glance, but it’s not really cool-toned.
This is very tempting! 🙂
Really! Tell me more 🙂
I was hoping you would review this quad, though having indulged in 2 of the recent quads from Chanel, I think I’m at my limit. Interestingly, though, I swatched some of those MAC mineralize eyeshadow quads you reviewed not too long ago and I really, really liked them so may buy one or 2 of those instead.
Oooh, glad you are liking those quads – a little cheaper than Chanel, at least 🙂
Well, the colors aren’t anything special but they sure are pretty! If I didn’t already have all these colors x10 I might be interested 🙂 The texture sounds wonderful.
Glad you got these colors covered!
I’m loving the fourth color! It’s so perfect for fall
Yay!
The amount of product you get for the price is a little steep, in my opinion. That’s like paying $60 for less than one and a half Urban Decay eyeshadows.
There’s something about the way the baked/hybrid formulas are made – I don’t understand it myself – only that it seems common where mineralized/baked/hybrid/tri-brid formulas are always a lot less in weight (but not in volume) compared to regular powder.
Would you recommend this over Rivoli? I’m treating myself to ONE of them for the holidays…
They’re both really nice, so I might say Poesie, if only because it’s LE and Rivoli is permanent.
They both look SO beautiful!
You got it! I bet it looks great on you!
🙂
The darkest shade is really beautiful, I have to say, but this one is probably not for me at this price point – doesn’t feel special enough. 🙂
Totally understand 🙂
this is a pretty quad, the colors look so delicate.
The colors work well together!
Thanks for posting! I was so bummed when this one sold out. I placed an order on Macy’s today!
Crazy how it’s still in stock at Macy’s! Glad you were able to order!
This is such a classic shadow combination, I’ve had palettes exactly like this in the past from luxury brands. . Not my thing anymore but still lovely!
Did you overdo on this combo? 😉
These look gorgeous colours and, above all, an excellent rating – showing that they are a quality product worth purchasing. YAY to Chanel.
Yayyyyy! 🙂
So gorgeous! I’d probably buy this if I didn’t already have dupes for all of these shades. They do look buttery smooth (edible almost 🙂 ) . Tisse Mademoiselle is sooo pretty too!
Your bank account is happy for dupes 😉
I love this quad . Shade 4 wears more plum on me. It is especially flattering worn in the evening!
I bought this one a few weeks ago and I love it! It’s quickly become one of my favorite palettes I own. They blend so well and create a neutral look that has a little something more because of the pink/purple-y shades. So happy to see you liked it as well. 🙂
The #4 brown is *beautiful*! You know, this whole quad reminds me deliciously of a Pinky Bar – it’s a chocolate bar with caramel and pink marshmallow inside! All the colours are here, LOL! *drools*
Lovely quad. I like pink and brown combos. Shade #4, the dark brown, is really pretty.
Yay, I’m glad you reviewed it! I’ve been eyeing this one but wasn’t sure I wanted to hunt it down. Thank you! 😀
It’s an awesome quad! Its limited edition : ( also the new ones are really beautiful as well. Thursday October 30th Barney’s NY is hosting Chanel’s National makeup artist Sterling Williams if any of you ladies would love to come in and meet him and try some shadow this would be a great time.
Gorgeous!
Dupe shopping my stash has become my latest obsession (Thank you Christine for the dupe list!) – and as I was making my notes for this quad I thought maybe #4 could be Fyrinnae’s Knickers in a Twist?? I have heard tell that it is a close match for MAC Moth Brown, which came up as a possibility here.
I might have that one, but I have no idea if I’ve swatched it (it is not ringing bells, though, lol). But if it is like Moth Brown, then might be similar!
I bought this quad about a month ago and I love it, mainly because of the bronzy color. Unfortunately the dark purple one in my quad seems to be a lot chalkier than yours, so I haven’t really used that one. Btw I also got the rouge coco shine in intime (not knowing it was from the same collection) and I’m obsessed with it, so for me this collection really delivered!
I bought mine from Nordstrom a few weeks ago, they had plenty left because they didn’t receive a tester pan so no one wanted to buy it without playing with it first! I love it. Even though it’s mostly warm, it looks great on me. I’d highly encourage cool toned to pick it up because it doesn’t pull any warmer than it does in the pan on skin.
How funny! A hidden gem 🙂
I like this palette, but I like one of the permanent ones better, can’t remember which one riht now, though. It’sreally later here 🙂
While I do want to try this new(ish) formula from Chanel, I also want to try a Charlotte Tilbury Quad and we now have Tom Ford here so I have to do a bit of swatching and thinking before I buy any of the higher end eyeshadows.
There are just so many things I want to buy and try, and actually not quite enough money to buy it all and still eat 😀
I liked it, but now that I’ve had it, I don’t think it’s like a track-it-down-or-I’ll-die kind of palette. Very nice, but the rest of the permanent range covers a lot of the colors!
I’ll have to check my counters, hoping I can still snag one of these!
Fingers crossed!
