Chanel Merveille Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss ($32.00 for 0.28 fl. oz.) is described as a “lilac rosewood.” It is a reddened plum with soft pink shimmer. Bobbi Brown Naked Plum is very similar, but it is a sheerer formula, so it looks lighter applied. MAC Lap of Luxury is a touchd arker and has less shimmer.

The Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss (whew! that’s a mouthful) is supposed to be a color-rich, non-sticky, and high-shine. Merveille applies easily with opaque color–and lots of shimmer. The size of the shimmer is fine but noticeable, so it reflects and catches the light well, giving lips a very sparkling look.  It’s incredibly comfortable to wear–very hydrating–and lasts for five hours.  The tapered doe-foot applicator tapers on both ends, and it actually fits the natural curve of the lip well for application.  The consistency isn’t too thick or too thin, and it never gets tacky.

That is such a beautiful shade! It really looks great on you! I’m a big fan of the rosy plum colored glosses, not too crazy of a color but it looks classy and pretty.

Bought this and the other gloss as well and two of the lipsticks. Cannot wait to open the boxes – they got here today. Also bought one of the eyeliners.

This is the sort of color I reach for on a daily basis, but because of that reason, I have way too many already,so I’ll pass on this. Besides, I can’t imagine spending $32 on a gloss that’s so dupeable. That said, it is beautiful, and I can see it working well on deeper skintones, as well as fair.

Reminds me of Chanel’s discontinued Aqualumiere Ironic Tonic. I loved that gloss. Anybody remember that gloss lovelies? Looks similar right? Ironic Tonic was not so opaque, but the gold flecks and the plummy tone seems to be along the same lines of Merveille.

Hello Christine! I love the gloss – it looks great on you! However, there’s something I’d like to ask. I’m always afraid of plum shades making my teeth look yellow. Do you think I’m better off passing this shade? It’s so pretty but I’m worried I wouldn’t be able to wear it…

I have many Chanel lipsticks, but I have never pushed myself to buy the different gloss formulas. Up until now I have only bought one glossimer to layer on top of lipsticks. But this seems to be opaque enough to be worn alone. It is beautiful, and the kind of color I generally prefer using, easy to wear, beautiful color, far from being nude, but it doesn´t scream either. I think it is now on my list of presents for Christmas 😀 it suits you very well Christine 🙂 .

This looks like it may be similar to MAC Viva Glam VI lipglass, which is described as “Warm plum with pearl.” Can anyone weigh in? It’s one of my favourite lipglasses, I’ve used one tube already and am working away at a second tube!
