Chanel Lumieres Naturelles Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Lumieres Naturelles
Chanel Lumieres Naturelles Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow ($62.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a soft, warm-toned neutral quad featuring three hues of light to mid-tone brown and a dirty gold. I wish the lighter, matte brown was more blendable (it really should be for the color it is and how it fits in the color story), while the mid-tone shimmery brown could have held its intensity better. These seemed to fade a little faster than some of the more recent Chanel quads have on me as well, so I would highly recommend an eyeshadow primer if considering this product.
It is currently sold out through Chanel online, but it may be restocked or found in-store (I don’t have an official press release for this launch).

Lumieres Naturelles
LELimited Edition. $70.00.
Lumieres Naturelles #1
Lumieres Naturelles #1 is a dirty, medium-dark gold with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation but needed a second layer when applied to my lid due to the product sheering out and looking a bit muted/dusty without a second pass of product. The texture was soft, finely-milled, and blendable on my skin. It lasted well for seven and a half hours on me.

Lumieres Naturelles #2
Lumieres Naturelles #2 is a light brown with stronger, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. The color payoff was opaque in one layer, while the texture was soft, silky, and a little powdery in the pan. It didn’t blend out quite as nicely as I expected along the edge, so I had to spend a little longer working with this shade. It stayed on well for seven and a half hours on me before fading visibly.

Lumieres Naturelles #3
Lumieres Naturelles #3 is a light-medium brown with warm, yellowy undertones and a matte finish. It had rich pigmentation with a smooth, silky consistency that wasn’t too soft nor too firmly pressed in the pan. The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out without issues. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before I noticed fading.

Lumieres Naturelles #4
Lumieres Naturelles #4 is a medium brown with warm, golden undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in one layer when applied to my lid (it swatched a bit better than it appeared in practice) but had slight fallout and some dustiness. I noticed this shade seemed to dull down and look a bit lighter after a few minutes, so it ended up looking very similar to the light and mid-tone matte browns with respect to depth and made the quad less versatile. It lasted nicely for seven and a half hours on me before it started to fade.

This quad is for those folks who post no makeup selfies while clearly wearing makeup ?
I can definitely see this being a workhorse/easy go-to for certain skin tones / environments!
A little black on the corners and/or at the lash line would help those who need a bit more punch, but the color story on its own is very pretty.
For certain skin tones, for sure, like I said above 🙂 For others, it’s not going to show up well at all without significantly adding more products to it, not just black, IMO.
LMAO!!! ?
I blind bought this before your review as something quick and neutral for work. I already use eye primer regardless of shadow formula or I will have creasing by lunchtime. Sometimes even with primer I have creasing after 8 hours. This holds up impressively well for me with the Nars eye primer and is still going strong at the 12 hour mark for me. I have been enjoying it and appreciating it’s simplicity for my purposes. If you don’t already use eye primer, this probably isn’t special enough to start using it for though.
I like this but I think I get more versatility with the CT Exaggereyes quad that I have.
The finished effect was perhaps less coppery on my pale olive skintone than I was hoping when I used all 4 shades together, but after a few trial and error wears I really like this quad. I use it over a little of just my regular concealer (cle de peau radiant corrector for eyes) and it holds up well. I haven’t managed to duplicate with the same effect Chanel’s promo video look as well as Michele Wang (she has a darker skintone than me) but maybe as I get tanner over the summer. That small disappointment aside I think I will get TONS of wear out of these beautiful shades. I also really like the spring 9-pan Les Indispensables palette. You can get a similar look out of it but it definitely has a completely different, cooler undertone than this. I’ve been using them together too – for some great looks.
Hi Rachel, I echo your comments wholeheartedly. I have a basic eye look that can easily be amplified when needed, so I appreciate Chanel creating two very wearable eyeshadow palettes. I particularly like brown shades in every increment, so these palettes will get regular use. I pre-ordered both the minute I saw/swatched them. Glad you are enjoying yours!
Another gorgeous quad from Chanel. I could not pass up this gem in my pre-order for the Cruise Collection. Just loving the brown tones released this summer through Les Beiges and Cruise collections.
Not Chanel’s best, that’s for sure. I do wish there was more contrast between the last 3 shades!
I like 1 but have dupes; there doesn’t seem to be a whole heck of a lot of differentiation between 2 and 3 and I have dupes for all 4 shades. I’m disappointed that this quad isn’t more exciting but, again, it strikes me just how much I’ve reach a saturation point when it comes to eye makeup.
I find this to be an underwhelming quad – the last three shades are so very similar to each other and the only stand out original looking shade is the first one, which is very average in quality. This quad is not up to Chanel’s usual standards. The shades are quite popular, living in all of our palettes. So nothing new here. Beautiful eye look Christine.
I have this quad and am glad I purchased it. I was on the fence until I saw it in person. The colors are plenty deep for my skin tone and I can put together a quick office eye effortlessly or intensify it for a more dramatic evening look. In practice, there’s a noticeable difference between the palette colors and finishes – no complaints there. I agree with knocking off a few points for longevity; it fades a bit without primer. Exciting? Maybe not. Workhorse? Yep!
I love this quad! It’s a lovely neutral warm toned, right up my alley. Going to try it in Nordstrom first to see if these colors are any different from the zillion neutrals I already have.
