Chanel Jardins Eclatants Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
Jardins Eclatants
Chanel Jardins Eclatants Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad ($61.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a warm-toned, neutral palette that featured a pink-peach, peach, warm brown, and deep, coppery brown. It’s a new, limited edition palette for spring/summer that uses Chanel’s “vibrant, pigment-rich formula” that is “long-lasting” and has a “soft, smooth texture.” The colors are definitely dupable, so I see this working best for someone who prefers Chanel’s formula, is looking for an all-in-one quad, or uses these types of shades often. The palette had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation, seven to eight hour wear, and was very easy to apply and blend out.

Jardins Eclatants
LELimited Edition. $70.00.
Jardins Eclatants #1
Jardins Eclatants #1 is a light-medium pinky peach with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque color coverage that was soft, smooth, and blendable on the skin. I felt like it darkened ever-so-slightly on bare lids (but over primer, I don’t think it would do so). This shade lasted for seven and a half hours on me.

Jardins Eclatants #2 is a soft peach with warm, orange undertones and a frosted finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was soft without being dusty or thin, and it blended out beautifully on the skin without becoming sheer. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me.

Jardins Eclatants #4
Jardins Eclatants #4 is a deep brown with subtle, warm red undertones and a pearly sheen. It had rich color payoff that applied evenly and smoothly to my lid. The texture was soft, finely-milled, and blendable without being so soft that it was dusty or prone to sheering out (without that intention!). This shade started to fade after eight hours on me.

This is sooooo tempting! Shimmering colors never seem to last on my eyelids though. Primer or not, I tend to lose them before noon. 🙁
Oh no! 🙁 Have you tried layering primers?
You can layer primers? What would you suggest, Christine?
Usually something thin with something thicker – the combo readers used to use often (maybe less often now, since I don’t think MAC Paint Pots are QUITE as popular) was UDPP + MAC Paint Pot.
Wonderful…. Thank you for the recommendation. My staple is Painterly. I’ll definitely try out a combo now tho. 🙂
Oh my goodness, Christine, I have BOTH!! Will try that combo tomorrow. So very thankful for the tips and trick I learned on Temptalia!
I discovered Paint Pots last year when trying to find a good base for Tom Ford’s Sphinx eye cream and I couldn’t believe how wonderful they are. I picked out Rubenesque, which didn’t bring out the duo chrome as much as I would have liked, but I love wearing it on it’s own! (CT’s Bette ended up being the perfect base for Sphinx on me.)
Let me know if it works at all!
Another trick is to put translucent powder on top of your primer (this is how Tom Ford’s primer works!).
The colors are dupe-able, but something about that glowy, luminous finish is so pretty! I’m eagerly awaiting your thoughts on the other palette
Yep, they are dupable but still lovely.
Same here Katherine T.! And then I ll make my choice: time for a buy, joohoo!
I’m attracted enough to #1 (pink) and #2 (peach) that I may go for this, but first I’ll be checking out the dupes and costs for those. Very pretty look you did.
Thanks, AB!
Warm green-eyed beauties and hazel-eyed lovelies rejoice. My eyes are a warm, moss green and this palette makes them sing! It’s an easy, everyday palette that can be used to create different looks without having to over-think it. Is it razzie-dazzle? No, but it is excellent for that effortless, peach-pink look that is one of spring’s trends. Of the two palettes, this was my favorite.
I definitely see it being a staple, everyday quad for some – for others, totally redundant, but it’s always nice to see something that’s well-done, even if it’s super dupable.
Ohhh, these are lovely. Even though it’s really warm the hint of pink/burgandy shimmer in there makes it more wearable for us pale and cool toned people!
Woohoo! 🙂
I LOVE the last two shades omg!!! So stunning and beautiful!!!
I love the eye look you did too, Christine!! It suits your eye colour imo!
Aw, thanks Shannon!
This is a nice enough quad but very dupe-able. In fact, I can pretty much dupe it without even looking any further than other Chanel quads I have.
Totally unsurprised 😉
Me thinks I fit that profile you wrote of! I love and want this quad for its ease of use and the way everything blends so nicely together. Big question is: do I really need it? As I look at the combination of shades, I’m reminded of my Lorac Unzipped Palette for some reason? Sooo, I’m going to do a look using that to see whether my hunch is correct, or if I’m just having a semi-senior moment!
That is a good idea – to do a look with Unzipped and see if you get a similar effect! 🙂
I do love Chanel’s formula and I’d love to have these shades in their quad. So I think I’ll buy this. Do you happen to know if it’s coming to Nordstrom, or has come and gone…?
I’m not sure – I think it will be available at other retailers as it seems like a regular launch and did not say chanel.com exclusive (there were some items that did say that). I haven’t seen it at Nordstrom yet!
Thanks so much, Christine. Christine, does Chanel.com take returns by mail of products that have been used? I’ve never ordered direct from them before.
I’m not sure! I know they DO take returns in some capacity but am unclear on their policy for makeup. I think Chanel might have live chat during the day, so you might try asking there. I’ve ordered a lot from Chanel online, and they’re actually one of the best shippers for makeup, but I haven’t returned anything that I can recall!
Thank you so much for answering Christine. I will live chat them. As always you are an invaluable resource!
Chanel website definitely accepts returns, even if product was used. I don’t remember though if they provide a pre-paid shipping label. I think they do.
Oh thanks!!!
They do, Ginny. I changed my mind about that beautiful tweed palette and the return by mail was easy and they quickly processed the refund..
Thank you!!!! ::trots off to buy::
This is a glorious little quad – perfect for the work day rush, all the shades you would need if these shades suit you. Beautiful eye look Christine.
Thank you, Genevieve! 🙂
…and that’s how she lures you in. Christine does those fabulous eye looks (even with really substandard products, the looks she produces make you overlook the D or F rating and get you thinking “Can it really be THAT bad if she can make THIS look?”) I’m thinking that in overall “feel”, this is a lot like the Tisse Rivoli quad (the colours are different but the vibe and ease of everything working together so well are similar). I’m going to hold on for the other one in the release and hope it’s either really bad or waaay like other shadows I have or BOTH! (but I’ll probably cave).
You’re so right Mariella – Christine always does amazing eye looks with every single product.
Having another look at the Tisse Rivoli palette confirms that these shades are quite similar……the other little quad is my favourite and maybe that’s the one we’ll get.
I’m caving.
Do we know when this will be available outside of chanel.com? Right now I’m not seeing this available at any of the posted links (Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, etc.).
I don’t have any dates yet!
I thought this collection was coming out in May, despite being released everywhere else (internationally), it seems.
No idea on my end!
This is such a pretty eye palette I just wished Chanel would throw in at least one completely matte shade with their eye palettes.
I totally understand that desire!
I am such a fan of the Chanel quads, even those that don’t perform as well as this. I am waiting for the review on the other quad but pretty sure both of these will be mine. Also really loving the blush.
What is your favorite Chanel quad of all-time?
This will come home with me. I have no other Chanel quads, no dupes, except for the soft peach one and I prefer the convenience of having all these four shades in the same quad. I saw some pictures with each shade applied individually on the entire lid and they are so beautiful even on their own.
It will be my second purchase from this Chanel collection, after the Tweed Cherry Blossom blush which looks gorgeous and natural on my fair skin; I’ve been using this blush every single day since I got it.
Glad to hear that this one will work well for you, Nicole!
This quad looks gorgeous. I swear your eye makeup stole the show in the product reviews where you wore this palette. I like all-in-one palettes. Will give this palettes serious consideration if can buy at a discount. Truly lovely!
Aww, thank you Tracey!
It looks pretty but a little bland in my opinion. Not much contrast between the two light shades, and everything is very dupable.
I think the tone of the two lighter shade makes them more different, but it will definitely depend on one’s skin tone + undertones!
So happy this is as good as it looks! My stash is not that big, I do not own a warm pink eye shadow, and this seems excellent value for me. Can’t wait to work with these shades, can’t wait to officially break my no-buy! But I will wait for a little while: want to see how you rate the Lumières quad Christine, before I go for it!
Happy to hear this will work well for you, Ouineque!
From the PR pictures they look so dupable and I was gonna pass….. until I saw your posting.
Aww!!!!! No eyeshadows are ever the same, right? 😉
LOL! They are similar, but my philosophy is as long as you’d USE them, similar is OK. But no need to buy 20 reds that are the same if you never wear any of them, you know? 😉
