Chanel Jardin de Camelias Aqualumiere Glosses Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Chanel Aqualumiere Gloss
The Chanel Jardin de Camelias Collection (an online exclusive) includes four shades of Aqualumiere Glosses ($29.50 for 0.20 fl. oz.). My information listed all of these as limited edition, but Chanel’s website is only listing Pink Pivoine (88) as being limited edition. If you’re not familiar with Aqualumiere Glosses, the formula is supposed to be comfortable to wear, give a “sheer wash of colour,” and have mirror-like shine. It has a brush-type applicator, while the consistency of the gloss is fairly thick but non-sticky. They’re very comfortable to wear, but I’ve never found them to last too long, so they need frequent reapplication. The formula is lightly hydrating and aren’t heavy, but they’re not lightweight (you can tell you’re wearing gloss). I didn’t notice any scent or taste when trying these.
Eau de Rose (86) has a sheer, pink-tinged base with cool-toned, icy, iridescent pink shimmer. It wore for two hours on me. MAC Asian Butterfly (LE, $19.00) is pinker. MAC Butterfly Dream (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Charming (LE, $29.50) is not quite as iridescent. MAC Icescape (LE, $15.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.
Rosace (87) is a light-medium, yellow-toned pink with soft white shimmer. It had semi-sheer color coverage, and it applied evenly for the most part. This shade lasted two and a half hours on me. bareMinerals Heartbreaker (LE, $18.00) is more opaque. Maybelline Petal Plush (100) (P, $8.99) is lighter. Maybelline Caramel Infused (065) (P, $8.99) is darker, pinker. See comparison swatches.
Pink Pivoine (88) is a medium, lightly warm-toned pink with no shimmer. It had semi-sheer color coverage, and it wore well for two hours on me. Urban Decay Flushed (P, $19.00) is less glossy, more pigmented. Chanel Murmure (179) (P, $29.50) is lighter. Paul and Joe Beaute Carnaval (06) (P, $29.00) is pinker. Maybelline Captivating Carnation (080) (P, $8.99) is cooler-toned. Maybelline Caramel Infused (065) (P, $8.99) is a little lighter. See comparison swatches.
Baie Rose (89) is a cool-toned, light-medium pink with blue undertones and a creamy, no-shimmer finish. It had semi-sheer color payoff, but it applied unevenly and looked splotchy. The color wore well for two and a half hours on me. Milani Pink Lady (07) (P, $5.49) is more pigmented. L’Oreal Florid Pink (LE, $7.99) is more pigmented, less glossy. Edward Bess First Kiss (P, $30.00) is more pigmented. MAC Petite Indulgence (LE, $20.00) is very similar. Chanel Insolence (P, $32.00) is very similar. See comparison swatches.

I wanted 86 and 89 but I think I may just go for the first one. For Chanel’s price your rating had to be A- or more. Thanks for helping my wallet.
No problem! They tend to feel nice on the lips but just don’t wear long at all!
Baie Rose is very pretty on you!
Thanks, Fancie!
Pink Pivoine and Baie Rose both look really lovely but for the price, I’ll stick with the Gloss Prodige glosses from Clarins. At least with those, I can try them in-store to see how I like them, which is an added bonus. And I doubt that Chanel even ships to Canada so it’s just as well I’m not crazy about these.
Phew! 🙂
I love these lip glosses. Particularly love Eau De Rose looks so fresh dewy and Spring like. These will go on my want but can’t afford list 😉
I’m sure you could find something similar for less!
I have several similar shades from L’Oréal, if you don’t mind the scent. I don’t know if any of the specific shades I own are still available, but it seems they always have at least one in rotation.
Thanks XAMYX I will check out the L’Oreal range.
I may have to have a little look for a dupe! If I get some spare money I am deffo buying it.
Baie Rose is very cute!
It’s a nice color!
Eau de Rose looks so pretty in the tube. 🙂
Not loving it applied, though?
On you, I do. But, I don’t think Eau de Rose will work on me, because I’m more yellow-toned than you are, it’ll just make me look like I’m sick or something. 😀
Gotcha 🙂
To sheer for my liking!
Bummer!
I’ve been getting more into lip glosses lately, and I love these!
Awesome! 😀
Pink Pivoine looks lovely! All the shades are infact real pretty except these wont work on me standalone unless over a lipstick!
They’re all on the sheerer side for sure!
Woah. Pink Pivoine looked so uninteresting in the tube, but swatched and on your lips it’s gorgeous! o:
Glad to hear you liked it!
These are pretty pinks – I seem to harp on Revlon a lot lately, but since we don’t have access to Chanel’s online stuff here, I wonder if you could tell me if Rosace is similar to Pinkissimo? I checked your swatches, but the lighting in the lip swatch photo seems to be slightly different, so I wondered how it looks to the naked eye, as it were!
I wish we could get the online stuff – I would be all over the highlighting powder and the fleurie lipstick, and my sister all over the eye products!!
Pinkissimo is darker and not quite as warm-toned, so it actually appears darker on the lips! 🙂
Thanks! 😀
Oh crap, you’ve done it Christine! I think I need all of these!
Poor wallet!
While I really like these colors, I don’t think I’d pay $30 each for a lipgloss I have to frequently reapply. Just not worth it to me.
I must say, they all look lovely on you, Christine. 🙂
Thank you so much, Rebecca! 🙂
For me, the only gloss I really love even though it’s sheer are Bobbi Brown’s High Shimmers… that shimmer is dazzling. But in general, I probably wouldn’t stock up on glosses like these!
