Chanel Imperial Rouge Allure Laque Review, Photos, Swatches, Lip Swatches

Chanel Imperial Rouge Allure Laque

Chanel Imperial Rouge Allure Laque ($32.00) is the second up in our seven days of Chanel Rouge Allure Laque feature.

Imperial is a slightly warmed-up, muted red-coral. It’s not quite the coral that comes to mind when I think “coral,” but it’s certainly not the “deep rose” that Chanel describes it as. I always find the descriptor “rose” to mean something pinky, but this has more red in it. It’s like a wearable version of a red with a touch of coral. I suppose if we think of red roses, maybe this is “deep rose.” I would say this is one of the harder shades to describe, because it’s beautiful, but I can’t find the words to aptly describe it! The shade has a dusting of slightly rosy-gold shimmer and the same glossy sheen as others in the line-up. It applies evenly without a fuss and goes on full-color right away.

Since I don’t want to just re-write what I say about the formula (since it is the same–if there are any variations, you can be sure I’ll call them out), here’s a quick bullet-point summary.

Pros

  • Satiny, creamy lip color that hydrates
  • Opaque color in one layer–very pigmented
  • Lasts for hours and even through eating/drinking
  • Glossy sheen
  • Looks like a lipstick AND a gloss
  • Easy to travel with
  • Sleek packaging

Cons

  • Pricey at $32 each

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 5/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

Recommendation:  For a more muted, but still opaque lip look, consider Imperial.  Not too warm or cool, it can easily be worked into your lip wardrobe.

I think this is the one I tried at Macy’s – I may have to go back and try it again. I will be traveling Nov/Dec so this may be good for my traveling makeup bag

Oh, the shade is similar to a Shiseido Perfecting Lipstick I own (can’t tell the shade number right now). But still, I so want to own one of these babies… So expensive ;_;

I totally agree with you about describing the color! Jane Iredale’s Catherine kind of looks like this one me (I couldn’t have cared less what the color was when I bought it lol) and I’m at a loss to describe the color too hahaha. They called it a “dusty red.”

I think it might also be the lighting–yours is straight on and close up with flash, and Karen’s looks like it’s with no flash and using diffused natural light from a window. Its funny because the other day I saw a car whose color was almost exactly like Imperial’s, and indeed the part of the car that was shaded on the side was a bricky red, and the part that had the sun (it was a cloudy day, so the light was diffused) on it was a purply lavender! Its cool how colors can change so dramatically depending on what kind of light it’s reflecting.

Geez, the pigmentation and application of these is seriously a dream! It honestly looks absolutely flawless… and if you can get that even of an application just for swatches…
I think it might be worth the price. Aaah! Why are there so many things I want?!

I just bought Ming today. This is my second Chanel purchase, the first being Arlequin Glossimer. I celebrated by using the two together–so pretty:D I would also like to take this moment to thank you Christine because if it weren’t for you I would never have given Chanel products a try!

Hi Christine! Ive been reading your blog for a couple of months now and I think its great! Keep up the good work!
These colors are gorgeous but Im wondering with what kind of eye makeup would you wear it so that it doesnt look too overdone??

Happy Friday!

Hi Christine! Thanks for all your recent posts for lippies! Your posts single-handedly started my current lipstick obsession with these Chanel Rouge Allures and Guerlain’s Rouge G. Next up is Guerlain’s KissKiss! haha

I’m an NC37 and was torn between Imperial and Dynastie. Tried both and loved them both but I opted for this one for now 🙂 Will definitely be back for others – I want a natural/nude shade also! Hope I find one!

So far for Rouge G, I have #44 Graziella(?). I can’t wait for the holiday LE ones too! Before reading your blogs, I usually stayed with the plums and browns. Now I’m venturing into red territory! I’ll probably pick up KissKiss in Red Strass next! And I hope you’re right about them selling refills for these Rouge Gs! Thanks again, girl! 🙂

Toni Avatar

Is it?!?! OMG…I’ll have to check it out then! The Guerlain lady told me the Holiday collection won’t be in till mid-Oct, I think. How on earth do you get your hands on em so early? 😉

So are these way better than those drugstore long wear lipsticks? I love this color but I havent had luck with other long wear lip products they peel off and are sooo dry!

Tika Avatar

Hey. This colour looks so amazing that I want to run out and buy it. But I’m not sure if it will work for daily wear.I am looking for a long lasting very pigmented lipstick/lip gloss. I have dry lips so I can’t really wear matte finishes. What lipstick would you suggest. Would mufe intense lipsticks be better or Chanel Imperial Rouge Allure Laque? I like shades similar to 29, 28 in mufe. Or would you please recommend other brands if you think they would give better pigmentation and at least 4-5 hours of wear?
[ I am Mac NC45 with really dark pigmented lips]
