Chanel Gold Fingers Le Vernis / Nail Lacquer

Chanel Gold Fingers Le Vernis ($28.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “semi-sheer, gilded lacquer.” It’s a slightly coppered yellow gold with darker yellow gold micro-glitter and yellow gold shimmer. China Glaze Champagne Bubbles is much yellower. SpaRitual Golden Gleam is more orange. Milani 3D is holographic and a little less orange. MAC Vice is Nice is a little more orange.

Gold Fingers is almost opaque in two coats–if you want more of a “semi-sheer” look as Chanel describes, I’d recommend just one coat.  I think it looks best with two coats, because it results in more even color coverage.  The benefit to having it be slightly metallic and chocked full of shimmer and micro-glitter is that it dries down faster than the average polish.  It has a consistency that’s just slightly watery but doesn’t seem to affect the application in any way. Chanel polishes typically last a week on me with minor tip wear but no chipping.

P.S. — I think Chanel is in a race against itself to make Le Vernis the most expensive polish on the market.

28 bucks is a lot to pay for a polish! I’m sure I’d still dole out the money if it’s a color that I really want, but I can’t stand Chanel nail polish brushes, and for some reason it doesn’t stay as well on my nails as its cheap counterparts…

Haha. Your P.S. almost made me spit out my tea! So funny, so true! I’d like this polish but they are getting a bit too pricey for my blood.

Ugh! Stupid phone!!!

I was actually gonna reply to this post’s PS and say, “disagree! Look at the Dior berry red polish you recently reviewed!” I actually said “what the f$@&?!” out loud when I saw that polish costs $32 for 0.33oz!!!

For anyone in the UK that wants to purchase the Vegas collection, selected Chanel counters in Selfridges sell it. (I got mine in the Manchester Exchange Square one, and I’m sure the London store will too). I love the polish, it’s really long wearing and very very pretty!

Their pricing is just making me wince at this point. When it was closer to $21 a bottle I was willing to occasionally splurge. At almost -$30- a bottle it’s making me think twice – especially when some dead on dupes inevitably come out their colors.

I remember when Chanel polishes were $18! That really wasn’t too long ago at all… now I really think twice as well. Graphite was the last Chanel polish I splurged for because there are good dupes of nearly all others

Such a beautiful colour. It’s not on the Australian site though. If you think $28 is steep, Le Vernis is around $40 here. Or so I have heard…

Pretty but it looks to me just like Essie’s “As Gold As It Gets” from their Luxefects Collection. Same feel for just $8. 😉

Expensive indeed! And Chanel nail colors wear really short! Leave out the color part, they are not even half as good as the nail colors of Butter London or Lunasol.
