Chanel Spring 2011: Nakkar and Aragonite

Chanel Glossimers ($28.50 for 0.19 oz.) are delightfully shimmering, sheer to semi-sheer lip glosses with a smooth, non-sticky formula that’s not too thick nor too thin. It also wears three to four hours on me, and I never find my lips parched after wear. For spring, Chanel launched two shades:

  • Nakkar is a reddened watermelon pink with subtle gold micro-shimmer. It provides some color on my lips, but it’s still on the sheer side. Nakkar is like a red version of Pink Teaser (from fall ’10).
  • Aragonite is a sheer, nearly colorless base with silver, pink, and teal micro-shimmer. Aragonite is fairly similar to Galactic, the primary difference being Aragonite has more pink shimmer, while Galactic has less and therefore appears cooler in tone.

  • Product: 29/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

FINAL THOUGHTS: Both shades are pretty, and they are true to Chanel’s Glossimer formula–whether the shades appeal enough to you to purchase is just up to personal preference.

Hey Christine, how does Nakkar compare to the Myriade glossimer? I have Myriade, and it seems similar, purely based on what I can see here.

The spring collection will only be launched in Singapore in the 3rd week of January. 🙁 I’ve my eye on Nakkar since I love Pink Teaser soooo very much.

I own Myriade and it is more red with blue, gold and pink shimmers. As the name suggests, it is more complex in color than Nakkar. For the record, I like Myriade more =D.

I almost purchased Nakkar. It swatches so pretty but doesn’t show up on my lips. Chanel used to make some that were more opaque, not so much anymore.

I heard Chanel would be increasing the prices on their products this month, and I guess it’s true lol! Oh my, I’ll end up paying $45CAN for a lipstick now! Both of these are gorgeous, I’ll be picking up Nakkar! Thanks for the swatches Christine!

I agree. The pictures do not even begin to do this beauty justice. Aragonite is packed with a veritable rainbow of sparkles with the emphasis being placed on pink (Galactic skewed blue). Worn alone or over lipstick, it provides depth and sparkle while creating the illusion of fullness. It has to be seen and swatched in person to be fully appreciated. In truth, I have not seen one picture of Argonite on any blog that fully captures it’s unique beauty.

Hey Christine, I’ve never owned any Chanel and I was thinking about the Rouge Cocos…I’m going to go try a few on at Nordstrom this week, but do you ever wear the Glossimers with them? These seem really pretty! Thanks 🙂

The pictures of Argonite on Christine’s arm and lips make it look like Galactic which was similar in concept but skewed towards blue. Aragonite is warmer in overall tone than Galactic and has a much more pronounced pink presence than is shown in the pictures. If you’re undecided about it, don’t make a decision based on blog pictures. None of them do it justice. Go to a counter and try it. You’ll be amazed. As I said in my reply to AmyP, Argomite is packed with a veritable rainbow of sparkles. It’s simply stunning!

These are kind of sheer… I only own one Glossimer (my mum hates lipglosses so she passed one down to me when she got it as a present) and it’s on the sheer side too but not as much as these two.

Nakkar has gold flecks, that makes me alwayss weak at the counter… The other one looks fab in the tube, but it is really not my cup of tea. How many Glossimers are too many?!

I just bought Nakkar and I love it! I’m so glad it’s not LE cause I will definitely repurchase. I never tried Chanel Glossimers and lipsticks before because of the price tag but all your wonderful lip swatches inspired me to try one and now I’m hooked. I adore Chanel Glossimers because they’re wonderfully sparkly without being sticky like MAC Dazzleglasses (not that I mind too much) and feel so moisturizing on my lips <3 <3.

I don’t understand how everyone wants Nakkar! I own Aragonite but I tried both colors on in the store and I prefer aragonite more. Anyway great blog(:
