Chanel Fall 2012 Collection - Les Essentiels de Chanel

Chanel Fall 2012 Collection – Les Essentiels de Chanel

The little black dress, the quilted handbag, the two-toned shoe — the iconic essentials created by Coco Chanel inspire Peter Philips, Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, to create the elegant Fall 2012 Collection, LES ESSENTIELS DE CHANEL. Classic pinks and natural beiges soften the face and lips while fuschia and modern black dress the nails.

Lumiere d’Artifices Beiges / Illuminating Powder with Shimmer ($65.00) (Limited Edition)

This highlighting face powder epitomizes the modern-classic look of Fall beauty and the artistry of Chanel. Enchantingly rendered to resemble sequins, the duo of lighter and darker beige shades blends together harmoniously for a subtly iridescent complexion, extending a summer glow.

There seems to be a lot more listed in the collection than what is shown in the photos but, based solely on what I see here, I think this all looks very boring. So much of the same old, same old. The exception is the novel texture of that (very bland) blush/highlighter. Unfortunately, that just serves to freak me out. The pailettes looks like chickenpox eruptions or lesions. Granted, I have lesions on the mind right now because of Zola but, still, nothing here excites me.  I like the model’s Paulina Porizkova (sp.?) resemblance, though; I think it’s the haircut and thick brows.

As a note, if you go to chanel.com and sort by collection, there are two eyeshadows listed that I haven’t seen in promos or for sale anywhere else. One is called Black Star and one is called Midnight, and I have no idea what they look like, but they’re listed on the website.
As for me, I want the rouge allure extrait l’gloss, the blush, and one of the rouge cocos 🙂

@blueraccoon Well, we’ve had Black Star in the UK for a while now and I think I’ve seen Midnight in stores too, so I don’t think it’s a part of this collection at all (which we won’t get until about August – a sensible time for autumn collection, I mean, we’ve barely started summer!)

In some countries, I’ve seen a fifth shade called Noir. That might be why certain places seem to be adding Black Star and Midnight as alternatives. Haven’t heard of the US getting Noir so far (I could be wrong on that, just haven’t seen it on US blogs).

@Leila – right, what I’m saying is that if I go to chanel.com, and look at makeup, there’s an option on the left that says “Collections”. I click on that, I select “Fall 2012” and it shows me all the items in the fall collection. *Included in that list* are Black Star and Ebony (I got the name wrong, sorry). I haven’t seen these shadows anywhere else, I haven’t seen them on store websites or store counters, but they are listed as part of the collection on Chanel’s website. No idea if they’ll just be non-US or online only or what, but Chanel’s site lists them.

@blueraccoon  Oh, I just checked the US site, so now I get what you’re saying. Well we have had the two shadows you mentioned for a while, so maybe they’re using this collection to release it to the US. It’s strange though, since they’re not on any of the press materials I’ve seen for this collection. They either list the four eyeshadows here for US, or in Europe, include the fifth – Noir (there’s a sixth colour in Asia too, but I don’t think they get Noir).

Ah, it’s all so confusing, I don’t understand the regional restrictions with all collections.

I already bought Rose Initiale! I can’t believe how early FALL products are available now. It was available starting in June and summer wasn’t even officially here yet. I always remembered fall stuff coming out in August, but I guess not.

Very pretty. I also love the lip color. I’m not sure which lip color I will buy. I think I’ll wait for Christine’s reviews.

Am actually quite excited for this colour collection. Jac’s look is everything I want in a fall cosmetic collection! Am eyeing the two nail varnishes and the rouge coco in caractere! Pricey but it will be worth it because I see myself wearing these kind of tones everyday!

Yikes, this all looks dull; Chanel essentials should be anything but! Last fall they released the amazing Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadow line, that gorgeous trio of nail polishes (Graphite, Quartz, Peridot), and the Prelude quad. It was all so exciting! This year seems like a let-down in comparison, but I’m still hopeful that the swatches of the Premier Regard quad and the lippies will be okay. And if not, the Bombay Express collection still looks amazing.

Great collection! I’m always so excited about new collections of Chanel, the promotion pictures are always beau-ti-ful! I never bought anything though, but when I get to next year at school, I will get myself a present 😉

Spotted this collection at Macy’s today.  The single eye-shadows looked super glittery.  But the quad seemed really nice, smooth and satin without chunks of glitter.  The illuminating face powder was beautiful, but not something I really needed.  I picked up the Gossimer lip gloss (which is that perfect pinky beige) and the Nail Varnish in Vertigo which is a gorgeous grayish brown with very, very subtle burgundy simmer.  Its my favorite type of polish to wear to work, kind of like wearing really sexy underwear under your business suit.

I got the eye quad because it looked so gorgeous in the store lighting but when I got it home and tried it out it looked quite ordinary and basic, just kindof blah…  I have blue eyes, so the sales associate recommended Eclaire and Furtif so I got them and wore the Eclaire which is a shimmery yellowish tone shade all over and Furtif which is a shimmery gray shade on my eyelids.  It looked stunning when I left in the morning but kind of faded and smeared as the day progressed.  But that may have been due to the eye cream I was wearing, so I will have to experiment a bit with them.  Also I think they can be worn wet?  That might help to make them last longer?

Received my lippies today. I’m in love with Caractere and Troublant. They seem to be the same color, but the first is Rouge Coco and the second is Rouge Allure Gloss. I appreciate the hydration of the first and the long wear and glossiness of the second. I can’t wait for fall. Next splurge: Rose Initiale blush!
