Chanel Delight Le Vernis Review, Photos, Swatches

Chanel Delight Le Vernis

Chanel Delight Le Vernis ($26.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is a pale golden bronze with lighter champagne, copper, and bronze shimmer. It has a strong metallic, almost foil-like, finish. Urban Decay Superfreak is more pewter-like; less bronzy, more silver-gold. OCC Cruising is a golden yellow. MAC Soiree is the closest I could think of, but it has a rosiness to it. China Glaze Jingle Bells is much yellower.

This actually could be a one-coater, and I liked the way it looked better at once coat–it almost gets a little too thick-looking (but it doesn’t seem thick in terms of actual, physical thickness). It was totally opaque in one coat, but I did swatches with two coats. The drying time on this is very quick, regardless of whether you’re doing one or two coats.  The texture was really fantastic on Delight; it wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it flowed beautifully across the nail during application with no bubbling, streaking, or pooling along the edges.  Not many polishes chip on me, so I’ve had no problems with Chanel and wear–I get noticeable tip wear after a week of wear but no chipping.

Updated: Sorry, all! It was supposed to be A–I must have typed through the rating fields too quickly and hit A+ rather than A. Thanks for everyone who emailed and left comments telling me about my colossal error!

This reminds of OPI Warm & Fozzy, not a total dupe but it also has that sandy like texture going on, and also is a very warm color.

Just out of curiosity, does any criteria in your rating system carry more weight when giving the final score than the others?  The two most recent NARS nail varnishes got an A rating while this Chanel got an A+ but both had same 10,10, 10, 9, 5, 4 numbers. Was there something that you liked that much better about this colour/product?

@Christine (Temptalia) Thank you for explaining and, most of all, for not taking my comment the wrong way. I was genuinely curious, not nitpicking, as just the other day you had explained to me the 4/5 rating with regard to nail varnish handles. 🙂

Christine, I was wondering about the grades you give on some products.  You gave this one an A+ for 98/100 and the NARS Lal Mirchi Nail Lacquer also had 98/100 but got an A.  Also, the Tarina Tarantino Emerald Pretty Eyeshadow Palette got 99/100 and got an A too.  I’ve noticed this before and I’m not nitpicking but I was just curious why some 98/100 get an A+ and some don’t.

I went back and looked at the Tarina Tarantno palette’s rating, but that was 98/100 – not 99.  You have to remember that with packaging 4/5 is the equivalent of losing 2 percentage points!  The total score is out of 50 so with 10+10+10+10+5+4 = 49 = 98%

@Emma Kennedy Yeah.  Revlon has about three colors similar to Delight.  And, of course, there’s MAC Soiree.  I’d choose any of those over Chanel.  The price is too dang high!

too similar to Designer De Better (already own) for me to pick up. To spend that much on a polish, Chanel or not it’s gotta be unique.

I think anything in the gold tone range looks super sophisticated especially with a touch of colour on your skin.  I do like Chanel’s nail formula, but I do find it rather expensive for a highly dupeable nail varnish.  I think you could get comparable quality at a lower price on this one.

Love that you now include details like brush pics and ingredients. Aside from showing the brush shape it sometimes helps to see how the polish looks on the black bristles. It gives us an idea of the formula viscosity and pigment density.

I got this polish and totally adore it looks even better in real life. I got Island as well liked it as well but delight is my favorite
