Chanel Cristal de Printemps (316) Les 4 Ombres Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Cristal de Printemps (316)
Chanel Cristal de Printemps (316) Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow ($61.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a pink-themed quad featuring a deep plum, two lighter pinks, and a pale peach. Normally, I find the micro-shimmer in Chanel’s eyeshadows to look almost “melted” on my skin after application, but these were dusty and looked a little dry on my skin. They didn’t adhered as easily, even over a primer, and had a tendency to sheer out and have some fallout during application.

Cristal de Printemps (316)
PPermanent. $70.00.
Cristal de Printemps #1
Cristal de Printemps #1 is a deep plum with subtle, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, lightly dusty texture that had slight fallout during application but didn’t sheer out as much as the other shades in the quad did. It blended out decently but emphasized my skin’s texture a little bit when I did so. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Cristal de Printemps #2
Cristal de Printemps #2 is a light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a frosted finish. The texture felt smooth to the touch but was more powdery and drier, as the eyeshadow sheered out and did not apply evenly to my skin when I worked with it. I had to really pat and press it on, and then leave it alone to avoid it becoming a dusting of shimmer. There was fallout during application, and the only way I could make it look true-to-pan was to use it with a dampened brush (but it’s touted as “pigment-rich” as is). Used dry, it lost a lot of its color just sitting on my lid–it looked like a washed out version of itself within a few minutes. It stayed on well for seven hours before fading on me.

Cristal de Printemps #3
Cristal de Printemps #3 is a light pink with subtle, warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had a moderately powdery consistency that seemed drier when I worked with it, as it looked dusty and adhered unevenly to my skin. I had to press and pat it into place or else use it with a dampened brush to avoid fallout and help it sit better on my lid. It wore well for seven hours on me before I noticed fading.

Cristal de Printemps #4
Cristal de Printemps #4 is a pale peach with subtle, warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer pigmentation with a dusty, drier texture that sheered out even more applied to my skin. Even over primer, it was semi-sheer at best, but it had a tendency to blend out too readily and drop fallout during application. It showed signs of fading after six hours of wear.

Even if this earned an A+ rating, these are so not my colours, with the exception of #1 (the dark purple). I have to say, Christine, that you have been really busy and productive in the past 2 days with all the products and reviews you are putting up! Kudos to you, lady!
Thank you, Mariella!
Oh man, what an epic failure. Thank you Christine for reviewing it so fast. You saved me some money as I was eyeing this quad. I will stick to the one from last year’s spring collection (Blossoming of Spring).
I hate it when Chanel makes me sad 🙁
I saw a review on this over on you tube. There was zero color payoff when the lady was showing us swatches on her arm, yet she was raving about how GORGEOUS it was. I was thinking to myself “thank you pass. “
Chanel just dashed my hopes for another liquid-like melty quad ala Empriente du Desert. Not sure why pinkish e/s’s seem to be difficult for some brands to do well?
Empriente du Desert was such a stellar product. How I wish they’d re-promote that treasure or somehow manage to create a few different quads with that sort of quality.
What a waste of money this offering from Chanel is! The shades are not at all original and quality is really poor. Thank you for saving us lots of money Christine.
Normally I love Chanel eye quads but this one doesn’t even really appeal. There are too many light shades that are too similar in tone. That coupled with the overall less than stellar performance and I am definitely skipping this which is unusual as I usually try to buy all the Chanel quads, if they are shades I can wear. This is a huge help to my no buy so thank you, Chanel.
Agree 100% with your review. I ordered from the Chanel website and was so disappointed! #1 applied really patchy for me and #4 was too sheer.
You still put together a pretty eye look!
When I swatched it, I was a little bit worried… but on the eyes, it was almost worse, lol!
No thanks ?
I so appreciate your honest reviews! This one wasn’t on my radar because cost, but it always blows my mind when the high end brands perform so poorly!
A pity. Always disappointing when a high end brand underperforms, just on principle.
I’m at a loss how the plum turned out good, but the three lighter shades are awful. It seems to me that the shimmery pinks and peach should have been easier to pull off.
How sad, the colours and combination really appealed to me.
Me, too, Tatyana. It’s a very pretty combo that would have been great for easy everyday looks. It would have been my jam in the summertime.
