Formula Overview
$55.00/0.07 oz. - $785.71 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have a "satin" finish with eight-hour wear (and 12 hours of hydration) and an "ultra-high concentration of pigments" and a "deeply moisturizing complex." The range was quite pigmented with most shades delivering fully opaque coverage in a single layer, though there were a few exceptions.
The consistency was smooth, creamy, and lightly emollient without too much slip, so it stayed in place without feathering on me, but it was a "thicker" and denser formula compared to most Chanel lip color formulas I have tried; this wasn't a good or bad thing, but it was a departure worth noting for those familiar with prior lipstick releases from the brand. I felt this thicker formula did help to soften my lip lines and yield a very flattering look on my lips, though.
Most shades lasted at least four hours with some shades lasting closer to six hours but eight hours of decent wear would have been a stretch. Eight hours with some remnants of color? Possibly with some of the bolder hues (e.g. a red). The formula was comfortable and hydrating to wear, and I definitely felt no need to hasten to get lip balm after one wore off.
The lipstick had a subtle, floral scent (I didn't notice it after I applied it, mostly in the tube) but no discernible taste.
Note: this is a refillable lipstick, so the price reflects the cost of the case and the lipstick shade (cases are not currently available on their own). Refills are $40 each at the time of publishing.

Brun Lunaire looks like such a perfect shade for autumn.
Rouge Selene is a resplendent beauty! Probably not something I would have thought to have loved for winter, but definitely spring into autumn, though!
Both are lovely lipsticks – Rouge Selene would be my favourite.
I just noticed the price, of course brands like Chanel do cost a lot more than most, but I honestly don’t know how exceptionally unique, gorgeous and amazing a lipstick would have to be for me to go to the super high end brands.
And now that I have got that out of the way I have to admit that both are lovely and very useable. I would probably chose Brun Lunaire, I have a little thing for plummy coloured make up.
Agree after I wrote my comment and read yours, I checked the price and no way for $55; however, I usually purchase these brands when Sephora does 30 to 50% off of them (at least once a year here in Europe.)
I don’t currently shop at Sephora, the closest one is 140 kilometers away. I loved their sales when I lived just a 20 minute subway distance away.
For some really strange reason, I can’t shop from them online, after a klick on a product I get a message that access is denied. It’s been like that for some years. I guess I should contact their support. 🙂
Brun Lunaire is absoluuuuuutely lovely on your lips! Sold!
