Chanel Baroque Rouge Coco Lipstick
Chanel Baroque (30) Rouge Coco Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a lightly berried brown with hints of red and ruby micro-shimmer. The shimmer is incredibly light and almost invisible to the eye but the effect is lightly reflective. It is a new and limited edition shade from the Cote d’Azur Collection, which is online-only at this time–but you never know if it’ll pop-up in-stores (as SoHo eventually did, at least at select locations). This is a surprisingly wearable shade, despite its initial dark tone, but it’s not bold or so deep that you have to worry about what you can or cannot wear with it.
Rouge Coco is a slightly drier formula, because most of the shades are frost finishes, but I don’t find it drying–it’s just not moisturizing. It has a light vanilla-rose scent that’s rather faint but still detectable. It doesn’t seem to linger, though. On average, Rouge Cocos last four hours on me. I like the formula overall, and the shade range tends to be very wearable with a wide variety of colors from pinks to browns to reds. Pigmentation ranges from semi-sheer to semi-opaque, with a few shades being quite opaque and a couple on the sheerer side.

FINAL THOUGHTS: There’s enough depth and color for this to be a great autumn/winter color without being too bold or vampy. The Rouge Coco formula is most suitable for those with relatively healthy lips; if your lips are dry and cracking, I would recommend opting for a more moisturizing formula (perhaps Rouge Allure, if you want to stay within Chanel).

christine, do u know when the champale collection releases online?
Given it is the holidays, while one would expect it on the 24th, I have no idea what schedule MAC employees at the website work on.
It’s available on Nordstrom online.
wow, its so different in the tube! I was expecting a deep purple! I’m going to wear Rouge coco in byzantin tonight, its a great berry with gold shimmer, i think you’d like it christine!
it looked gorgeous in the tube, but it pulls a lot more orangey red on the lips than i’d prefer
wow, I would’ve never guessed it would look like that on lips! It’s so dark in the tube! Gorgeous!
That’s pretty on you.It looks darker in the tube.Hope everyone had a great Christmas!
Unfortunately, as usually I love this shade, in particular but I must only wear Allure due to my dry lips (very dry should be the WORD). This fact aside, I think this is collection very gorgeous, isn’t it? Anyway, I gonna check out if The Allure version has some dupes in terms of shades…
Oh wow, this didn’t look like something I would wear in the tube, but what a lovely colour on the lips! Reminds me of Clinique’s famous black honey lipstick a bit.
That looks nothing like it does in the stick, I like the stick colour better.
yeah my thoughts exactly. Maybe I wouldve liked the actual colour if the lipstick colour didnt give me a totally different impression of how it would be at first!
I love the tube color better too. Is there a lip stick out there close to the tube color?
Rouge coco looks almost the same in the tube.
The Color looks orange, is this not a cool toned purple Color?
Ohh wow, I thought I was going to have to splurge on this until I saw the swatch. I was expecting a shade closer to the tube. That would have been really pretty : /
How would you say this compares to Ballet Russe? I was thinking of getting that shade.
It seems similar, perhaps not as brown.
Wow, this looks very similar to Clinique’s Black Lily lipstick that was discontinued years ago. I loved that lipstick and have been looking fora dupe ever since. Black Lily looked that dark in the tube but applied in a sheer glossy finish and faded down to a beautiful reddish berry stain. It just looked great on my lips. I think I will have to try this. It may not be exactly the same, but probably as close as I’ll ever get.
wow! major difference from tube to lips…
I must say the color on the lips took me by surprise! It looked like a darker coral berry than reddish eggplant on the tube. It’s a good thing for my wallet though, cos if the color on your lips is as dark as the tube, i’ll be placing an order no matter how broke I might be :))
Made me think of Clinique Black Honey
