Buxom Scoundrel Full-Bodied Lipstick
Buxom Scoundrel Full-Bodied Lipstick

Buxom Scoundrel Full-Bodied Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.13 oz.) is described as a “blue red.” It’s a medium-dark, blue-based red with cool undertones and a glossy finish. Edward Bess Eternal Passion is brighter. MAC Love Goddess is pinker. Guerlain Gwen is darker. Dior Marilyn is more matte. Chanel Rouge Byzantin is darker, less glossy. See comparison swatches.

One of the ways Scoundrel stands out from a sea of red lipsticks is the glossy sheen–it’s not a gloss, but it’s a very creamy, intensely pigmented red with a natural shine. It looks juicy and almost wet once applied, and the finish is just very flattering on the lips as it doesn’t look heavy, settle into lip lines, or emphasize any imperfections you may find on the lip. The formula is also nicely hydrating both during wear and after the colors wears off, and this shade lasted six and a half hours, plus a residual stain. Full-Bodied Lipsticks are quickly becoming one of my favorite lipstick formulas for creamy color.

Wow Christine..this looks really really REALLY good on you! Seriously!!! It lights you up. M’kay..I just knew you were going to review another one of these babies to get me completely bent on picking up a few lipsticks in this formula. Scoundrel will probably be one of my picks. This blue red is quite bright and I like that!

Good/Bad news: Buxom sent me the rest of the range. Worse news: already swatched ’em, just need to test them.

The formula is sooo good! And the price tag makes it so affordable (relative to a lot of the other high-end lipsticks I love!).

I’m tempted to get this shade, it looks phenomenal! I’ll be waiting for your reviews on other shades as well. 😀

I liked the look of the bullet but then on the lips “OH HELLO! I’m Scoundrel and I’m going to be your new favorite red!” (Even though I have enough red 😉 ) Gorgeous! I also like the swatch of Gwen, so I’ll have to check for dupage.

Christine, that color is the perfect red for you. Your face just lights up!

I have 5 of these, but not this one, yet. That will need to be remedied soon. It appears that the only one I’ll be happy to skip is Nudist, as my skin is so pasty that pale nudes never do me favors. Glad to find out that I’m not the only person in love with these! In case anyone is curious, I have Two-Timer, Provocateur, Runaway, Hooligan, and Menace. They are all beautiful, but the darker colors bring out the best of the formula on my lips.

My fave is a toss up between Runaway and Hooligan for now. I have a feeling that come fall, it’ll be Runaway that I wear to work most days, and that is despite owning about 30+ other lipsticks that could be described as rosewood or rosy chestnut type colors. Runaway beats them all.

Now you’re talking!! I ADORE blue reds with a passion. My recent favorite red is Mac’s Mineralized Rich Lipstick in “All Out Gorgeous”. Scoundrel is definitely on my haul list.

Oh wow. Sounds like an amazing lipstick + price. There has been so many good coral-leaning reds so this blue-toned one is a delight to see!!! Hope to see your review for the rest of the line soon. 😛
