BUXOM Mykonos Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blush Review & Swatches

Buxom Mykonos Wanderlust Primer-Infused Blush ($22.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a bright, medium coral with a balance of pink and orange undertones and faint, golden micro-sparkle over a natural matte finish. It appeared more natural matte with a few golden shimmers/sparkles at most. It had intense pigmentation in a single layer, where a little went a long way, and the product applied darker on my skin (both on my arm and cheeks) than it appeared in the pan. The consistency was soft, a little dusty in the pan, but it applied fairly evenly and diffused and spread well across my skin. It wore well for 10 hours and was still mostly intact after 12 hours of wear.

Formula Overview

$22.00/0.13 oz. - $169.23 Per Ounce

The powder blush is supposed to have "12-hour wear" thanks to the "primer-infused" formulation that is supposed to "seamlessly blend" with a "luminous finish." It is scented with a "subtle, beachy scent" (it smells a bit like coconut and suntan lotion... aptly described a"beach," but wasn't a scent I detected much on, though my sense of smell has been dulled down lately). Most of the shades had semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation--and some where intensely pigmented to the point where the warning "use with a light hand" comes into play--with soft, finely-milled consistencies that were a little dusty in the pan.

The finish varied from satin to more pearlescent, and one shade has larger sparkles to it, so you'll want to pay attention to the finish of a particular shade if you are particular about the level of shine/shimmer in your cheek colors. I noticed that most of the shades applied darker and richer on my skin, both my forearm as well as my cheeks, than they appeared in the pot. The blushes blended out well and lasted between nine and 11 hours on me--definitely a bit longer wearing than average. They looked smoother and were more forgiving of skin texture when worn on bare skin than the average powder blush, too.

Do you think the glitter/shimmer is prevalent on the cheeks or does it blend in? I don’t care for visible glitter on my cheeks (for day to day makeup, special event/night makeup is different)… but am okay with a sheen. I’m so torn on this one because I need to get a peach blush and this looks beautiful and the formula sounds intriguing.

Hi Lauren!

In the review, I mentioned that it appeared to have more of a natural matte finish but there were still a few sparkles on my skin!

I’m glad to see Buxom doing fresh lines, and so far so good in terms of quality and reviews. To my view, they’d become a bit invisible. I’m ISO a new blush and so will check these out.

Though pretty, this shade would be a nightmare on my coloring (lol), but the packaging seems rather curious to me. For a $22 blush, this packaging looks very cheap and flimsy.

Yay! I semi blind ordered this from Ulta after seeing your swatches over the weekend and it’s arriving today, but it looks like I made a good selection! 🙂

I’m fair and cool-toned so I do not normally find peach blushes appealing, but I really like the color of this one. A little concerned that it may be a smidge too dark, but I’ll just use a light hand.

Ooh, Mykonos is a perfect coral if there ever was one! I’m very appreciative of perfect pink/orange balance in it. I do have MAC Spring Flock, which is listed as a *possible* dupe. Looking at them side by side had me going “hmmm”. Just not sure I need both? But, I do feel that they would only constitute an 80% likeness if entered as a dupe.

this isn’t a good shade for me but I am glad that so far, this formula seems to be a real winner. I love Buxom’s single eyeshadows (that used to be available in value pricing AND with a free empty palette to store them) so it’s nice to see that sort of quality carrying through to this blush. formula.
